I love this channel, you are re-kindling my interest in metal & rock in general and new bands in particular. I got a bit jaded from about 15 years ago & couldn't see beyond the old stuff I had. I'd got fed up with it & just wasn't spending much time listening to music anymore. Thanks for making an old git happy!
Thank you Duncan. I was sort of in the same place, was playing 30-50 year old music all the time and didn't feel anything new was worth exploring, well until l then got into this and found out that there is tons of good stuff out there that just took a bit of digging to find.
Gonna be checking out all 5 of these bands. Currently listening to Múr and its really interesting. Also last month some time you recommended me Gatecreeper and i checken them out. Their album Dark Superstition was one of my favourite albums of 2024. Its gonna be cool seeing them open for Arch Enemy in November together with Amorphis and Eluveitie.
Can recommend a band from Liverpool called Ashen Reach, they are a modern metal band with great structured songs and amazing vocalist and musicianship! They have released 1 album and an epic EP too, definitely worth checking out.
5 good discoveries AGAIN ! I recommend Neckbreaker (formerly Nakkeknaekker) seen them live --> they are great on stage. so young but they master the stage
Make sure to check Dödsrit, if you can spare the time. Unfortunately missed them play at Roadburn last year, but high on my list to check when they are in the area.
You are welcome! Their album is great, and if you like them you might want to check out Cryptic Hatred as well, from Finland and also a young band full of energy
Yes I found about that band too late to be able to go and see them. Hope that they make some of the festivals this summer or a tour in the autumn, very interesting band.
That Mur sounds like a band for me. I always advocate Black Metal to the uninitiated by saying, Black Metal is the most 'experimented within' genre there is. This surprises the people who think they know what Black Metal already is (I'm sure you can guess what that means). I also say that Black Metal can use just about any kind of vocal style there is, which ties in with what you said about the vocal styles employed by Mur. So I'll be listening to their album before I go to sleep, tonight, heh.
I found Necknreakker a couple weeks ago really impressed by their debut album. Have you Heard of Mutilation barbecue? If not I recommend you check them out.
THE RIVEN ,sound good . But at the moment I favored another band from Japan, if you like this 80s metal, like Maiden, Helloween, Slayer, Metallica, Priest, you will find it with this group. I'm talking about LOVEBITES, when you hear the guitars you feel young again.
Yes I covered Lovebites in a similar episode at the start of 2024 or late 2023. I also did a special Japan episode with a guy that runs Rokku Sokuho which covers Japanese metal and rock , you can see that here ruclips.net/video/fqhZP-51oYw/видео.html
she's not new but fans of heavy music need to check out Poppy's Negative Spaces album. the center is falling out and had enough are excellent. some serious brutality.
I saw dieth live this year in a small club and i had no idea that ellefson was in it, so when i saw him playing his heart out for like 7 people i was blown away. Then ofcourse he ripped once again after a 30 min break whit kings of trash😂
Yes I saw that same tour, and agree that it was cool to see him get up there with a band that nobody from a small crowd knew. I had seen him also early in 2024 with Basswarrior tour and that was also a very great experience and I interviewed him there. This guy is such a nice man.
please make sure to email me metalandrockzone@gmail.com when the single comes out so I can put it on my New Metal & Rock Weekly on Spotify when its fresh!
