- EMERGENCY POD presented by Indeed. The Philadelphia Phillies make a move ahead of the trade deadline. The Phillies have acquired closer Carlos Estévez from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for pitching prospects Sam Aldegheri and George Klassen. Jamie Lynch gives his thoughts on the breaking news.
As an angels fan, you got a great player and he’s chill, signs autographs and takes pictures with the fans.
Yeah, but can he pitch?
@@guthrie428 he will have 2-3 straight bad closing games but after he will be fine.
Looks like a good trade, have a sense that the Phillies are going to pull off a big trade. Would love to see them get rid of Rojas who cannot hit or bunt and he is not smart on the bases.
I like the 20 SAVES thus far this year & 31 last year so finally someone with true dependable, reliable closing experience!!!
20 saves on a terrible team as well
I think the overpay notion is ridiculous. These guys weren’t even being talked about by anybody at the beginning of the season and this is the going rate for closers.
I think there needs to be a distinction between “overpay” and “I’m surprised the phillies were willing to move both these guys”. Acquiring MLB talent is always my goal, and I don’t worry terribly about moving prospects, sans a few. I’m just surprised the Phillies were ready to move both guys in one deal.
Why is it an overpay? Those 2 minor leaguers might not ever make it, and they are both in the 20s in the system. Gotta make this move if you want to win now
Did we kick the tires on that Trout guy the Angels have? 😂
Trout can’t finish a season. Couldn’t care less about playing for a good team. He loves being far away from home under the radar makin bank
Alvarado has no control... should be nowhere near a save situation.
There prospects that are 4+ years away if they even make it. Class A ball really? These fans who complain what do u think they can get solid players for trash?
Rob flat out said…he was going to see A LOT of 9th innings 😂 He won’t be the only closer…but he will be their top closer and high leverage guy.
the sad part about this whole thing is that the players you have on the team ARE NOT getting the job done, so you remove who's not getting the job done and you get the players who will
Steep price. I followed George Klassen and he has major upside. Carlos needs to be absolute lights out or this one will look ugly.
Agree.....Estevez is just really good right now BUT he doesn't move the needle. Hoffman is a better closer imo.....
Can we stop over reacting to trading a guy who’s still in A ball. McGary was a stud in the lower levels too moved up and isn’t shit Abel was an “untouchable” he’s been awful. The vast majority of prospects fail. Name the last prospect the Phillies traded that was regrettable?
@@joed6067 Ben Brown....kid is only 24 and the Chicago Cubs love him. Logan O'Hoppe with the Angels. In 2018 we traded JP Crawford away and he's won a few GG and thats just off the top of my head.
Thomson would be a fool not to use him as the closer. Already has 20 saves this year for a bad Angels team. His strikeout-to-walk ratio is better than ANYBODY the Phils currently have. As a Phils fan, I'm tired of Alvarado, Kierkering, Soto, Marte, Strahm, & Dominguez throwing 100+ mph but walking & wild pitching a small village of opponents for every strikeout.
We need a flarity put Phillips in the pen
Would rather have had Miller
NOT @ THE ASTROMICAL ASKING PRICE (I.E. MOST LIKELY BOTH MILLER & PAINTER!!!)
He's hurt
Dude he's hurt and has been hurt alot
Miller would have cost the Phillies 2 of their top 3 prospects..
