I heard the turbo was so large that they would actually floor them at corner entry and time it right so that boost hit on the exit. Crazy times yet the BEST in all of formula 1 IMO
the only way to drive this kind of cars is floor it right after you stop braking, if you get the timing right you'll get the boost on the apex, then ease the throttle just a bit to avoid spinning into oblivion and upshift (as per simracing esperience)
If I recall the information correctly, at Monza they fitted a particularly larger turbo (than the already big one) to the qualifying engine and experienced wheel spin in sixth gear at 237MPH.
@@KnutHansen123 still the best though in terms of raw engineering and power output yes we all get it was unsafe that doesnt mean the cars were any less beastly
1984 Nelson piquet won the Canadian Grand Prix , Becouse the engine had so much power but did not last long , they installed a small radiator at the nose of the car , it got so hot that Nelson had his foot burned! I remember him on the podium with out a shoe showing his foot on international tv feed ! Good times , go Nelsao.
AT THE BEGINNING, THE SQUATTED MECHANIC IS RAINER DIPPELHOFER; AND THE ONE TO HIS LEFT COULD VERY WELL BE PETER VOLL, WHO HANDLED THE BOSCH-MOTRONIC UNIT(ENGINE'S COMPUTER)
I once watched on Documentary on RUclips about this engine that was pretty old. It said the same thing about leaving the block outside to weather it and such. Do you know which one I’m talking about? I can’t seem to find it
Benneton f1 How to Build a f1 car or how to build a race car is what its called, i beleive. Dude, yeah, its like 2.5 hours long, goes over the whole development and everything. Its a super nerdy video. Video goes in depth on the entire story of that engine and cars development.
No. That’s not why. They still race this old BMW M12 in historic races-NO Jet Fuel. Produced 1,400hp. It’s because of the boost. Jet fuel was purely for cooling-and anti pre detonation.
im not even a lewis fan by far but dont understate the beastly pace that was the w11 coming from a solid redbull fan the pace of the W11 and RB16 will go down as the fastest ever unless the new cars for 2022 catch up by 2026 but as of right now they are the fastest of all time and that brings all kinds of dangers that even the gladiators from previous era didnt have to contend with

look at the turbo (larger one?) that the man in the video holds smiling. it's almost twice as his head, do a comparison

Is this is the F1..." Megatron " ??
A bit late but yes.
These engines the teams would use rocket fuel thats how they produce lots of horses
Also stuffing 80psi of boost would get you there
Lolll. No.

Toluene was used to get the octane rate higher thus allowing alot of boost pressure
Piquet his Genius
Jebas, 4cyl under boost, ggz
Make a hole on the tarmack...wtf??? Woow
