If you apply gator glide to the bottom of the boat it’ll slide through the grass like butter. Plus you need to trim up. You want a rooster tail shooting out the back when your on plane.

That’s the same motor I have on my 18’ war eagle. I am very pleased with it and no problems with it. The only thing is you won’t be able to turn all the way to the sides because of your pods. Other than that, have fun with it!!! God Bless!!
I just got a 1648 with a 23hp fnr from go devil I'm like 45 minutes away from them in baton Rouge and I'm running 22 23 with two people I love it enjoy the new motor

Yep, the old kill switch catches us all sooner or later! I would have that spare key around my neck, better yet get duplicates for everyone in your team. Good hunting boys, I know how excited you must begetting, even in my mid seventies I’m like a five year old in the week before Christmas. Six and a half months to go here in South Australia. Yesterday I was going through all my decoys and planning a new boat hide.
Ya figured out it won’t start without the kill switch attached you know it won’t stop if you fall out if you’re not wearing it haha
I have a 25 hp. Go Devil long tail and love this thing . I talked to Warren on the phone one time pretty cool guy . Enjoyed it have fun

I had the 23 hp surface drive when they first came out in 2007 was extremely reliable and love it but was slow.
Congratulations you will like and dislike certain things. None of them are perfect but I do love my 37efi gatortail

Not sure you'd really want to be going 21mph in the dark anyways as that is when you'd mostly be traveling if your past videos are what to go by. Don't want to end up on top of another tree do ya. 😉
Agreed, no need for that kind of speed very often. We have sacrificed speed for safety with the size of our boat.

Is the Vanguard motors are reliable Only thing I don't like about the lower end is the Is the oil coupling on the bottom of the unit I've had a mud buddy long tail currently have a betill surface drive on a 16' boat fairly light boat does well 2 guys 3 guys is a little heavy 25 horsepower always will show what I went bigger Is motor when I bought it have had but it have had it for about 7 years now only thing I've ever had wrong is my own stupidity
I can do about 20 Is with 2 guys 2 dogs And about 7 dozen decoys Cooler's lunchboxes

Also, We wanted less bells and whistles to break down i.e. no clutch and no power tilt and trim. Just a good Briggs engine.

It’s a very simple motor. No reverse no Neutral

@@FreelanceDuckHunting I run a prodrive on my phowler 1850 was lucky enough to have one of the last ones to roll off the build table in Clinton Iowa in 2019. There’s only two reliable surface drives in my book. Prodrive and go devil. I have buddies with GTRs and they are broke a lot and mud buddy well is always broke.
Why did you downgrade?
Less moving parts on a motor = more reliable. Plus budget retraints
