Chords is basically th same as What You Wont Do for Love by Bobby Caldwell which due to the songs versatility, being played / sampled in so many different styles, might be the best song ever written.
I grew up in the 50s and 60s and we used to watch Liberace on TV and think he was good. HA! This 18 year old plays 500 concentric circles around the old "good" artists and he has the technology to assist in the creation. Yohan obviously is an electronics geek and knows how to use the Roland to its full potential. He is amazingly inventive and makes it all look so easy. He can only get better and we will be here to enjoy his wonderful jazzy music. Thank you, RUclips for making it easy for these young artists to get the exposure they deserve and have earned.
The best on RUclips hands down...this kid is very talented...he needs more attention on him cuz he's better than alot of top producers in the game today...
I think the playing and thinking is great but the solo synth sound is annoyingly dull and cheezy. I mean, if you go into synthsizers you gotta go all in... explore the soundscape... don't just chose a patch you could find in a toy synth, hm? The sound matters always, but having the expanse of sounds available actually puts extra onus on coming up with an original texture
Simply amazing jazz lines! Actually, listening again, it reminds of the greats, like Jeff Lorber, yet you are throwing in so many cool jazz scales and patterns.
Yohan the beginning part when you started playing and recording on the JD-XI 0:37 - 0:47 I started tear up, how beautiful it sounds, I haven't been able to practice piano on my Juno DS-88 in ages, and it is a pity that it is laying in the dust, Today I felt a huge rush of motivation, I never felt before for producing music, I played on my friends Fantom 8 last night, and the way he was shocked and that he told me to not stop learning piano and continue the journey. I started ditching most of my other hobbies, that will prevent me of time and for reaching my dream of being able to Improvise like you. I need to put a high priority on music because 23 is not a young age anymore to begin. Today I picked up a MPC Live 2 and will also pick a smaller midi controller with after touch like the Arturia Keystep 37, or go also for the JD-XI, that synth sounds truly orgasmic and beautiful when it is played by a master player like yourself, that was blessed to practice since a young age. I hope I have enough time left, for with hard work and dedication to also one day get near your level. Not many artists make me cry, but the emotion I got from that intro recording was in my eyes perfection. Keep going forever, inspiring the whole wide world, I remember watching your video when you played a Michael Jackson song at a very young age near flawlessly... Incredible
@@Sniffyy I didn't say modern is worse I said he is more modern than Shakatak and Jeff Lorber. I actually think Haywyre is a great keyboardist better than I initially thought after listening to some of his other stuff, I like Blind Faith the best and thats one without the modern touches. The two best technically gifted young jazz artists I've heard are Jacob Collier and Domi.I'm not a big fan of Jacob's vocal style though but its amazing what he does.
Dude you are ridiculously capable on the piano. It seemed at first you were strictly technical in your gift, but I got a few goosebumps here and there during this improv as you let the time ebb and flow to your whim...so you got the heart too. Try and let that shine through more and I'd be amazed if you don't blow the fuck up. Wow man this is amazing.
For everyone comparing this to Corey Henry, etc...check out Jeff Lorber. Jeff practically single-handedly invented all this stuff back in the 70s. But Yohan does it extremely well. Way to go man!
Awesome BB Gossum! God made the notes, but thank God you organized them, and had us all experience them. The Yellow Pages used to have their slogan: “Let your fingers do the walking,” now you can claim it.
you just convinced me to put this synth on my radar! I was like, "huh the roland jd xi? I gotta see what this sounds like. if it sounds anything like the classic roland stuff, I'm in!" Thank you!
This is Way Cool, very hip Funk Jazz creation, you've got shredding chops, especially on the keyboard below....I admire and envy your life right now! I play jazz sax and piano, keyboards, but have been homeless and without any gear for past few years...your stuff lifts my spirits actually.
You have talent, fantastic solo whit upper Roland preset lead pad monophonic. Great solo really bellissimo on the Roland down. Compose something writes a real hit for Radio and an Album. I compose a lot . Improvvise over 4 chords it's improve not Co. Well job continue you are doing well and you have taken the right street and you study , because the quality it's growing fast
Great work :) Love your music and creativity. Spectacular soul . Hope you keep going . I'm following your channel and I'm thinking about buying this Jdxi also . Just for a small studio at home . Thank you again.
Yohan good job you gotta play something Ghanaian... I have this challenge for you I’ve seen many people finding it hard playing local Ghanaian groove... I wanna see how you go about it tooo Best Yohan
Better than 99% of music that’s currently on the chartbusters list
You can say that again. 😤
House chords, house beat, jazz improv- flame solo!
Can you imagine!! My God!!
C#maj7-9, Cm7sus4, Fm7-9, Bb13b5
There's An Artist Named Chymamusique Who Does The Same Once In A While...Too Dope!
The lick starting at 1:57-2:02 is so sensational. Amazing melody
typo *Kick .. maaan this entirely changes the meaning..

SO FKN TRUE
What key is this in though

Why would anyone dislike this? Seriously this is amazing
Because their wives were jamming to this

That lead is one of my favorite sounds in the entire fucking world.
Thats EXACTLY what i was going to say!
That had a Haywyre vibe to it, nice work.
Spot on...;-))
Nah, more Shakatak/Lorber, this guy is better at piano than Haywyre. Haywyre is more modern.
@@maccagrabme why does being modern mean hawyre is worse. Hawyre just has a different style

This is one of the most satisfying pieces I've ever heard. Thanks, Yohan!
The piano section at the end was amazing!
06:00 Sunday morning, this was a great way to start my day! Wonderful playing.
This sound is speaking to my soul! This young man is an incredible talent....much love health and happiness to you always!
U 2 a person of incredible natural gift, that's the JAZZ I always searching for
Very satisfying
That's some bloody sweet playing
This is what I call talent

This is why i bought a Roland JD-Xi and i am playing it almost every day. Thank you, Yohan! All the best, Chris
i want to know, are the tuts enjoyable to play? or its bad? (sorry for my bad english)
For everyone comparing this to Corey Henry, etc...check out Jeff Lorber. Jeff practically single-handedly invented all this stuff back in the 70s. But Yohan does it extremely well. Way to go man!

A super-infectious jam and some really tasty ideas in there.
You are a genius. Such maturity.
Anything you compose is a masterpiece! I really hope you'll have an album soon and I'll definitely purchase one! 😆 You were stunning btw Yohan Kim!
Love the groove on this track

I LOVE THAT MINI KEYBOARD
amazing how two octaves' worth of keys can produce very wholesome music. I like that
JD-Xi is actually 3 octaves - still very impressive. Yohan Kim is a young master.

So good. So so so good.
