Nightly Routine Questions to Transform Your Life by Holding Yourself Accountable & Evolve Daily

  • To get to where we want to go, we must know where we are now. Here's a short inventory I take nightly to help me reflect on my actions throughout the day, and on whether or not they align with who I'm trying to become.
    Note: I use the Shortcuts app on iPhone to log this, if you don't have access you can open this up in a document, or write it out on paper.
    I hope this helps you get a little closer to being the person you know you can be, just as it's helping me to do so.
    02:13 - Nightly Inventory
    Questions:
    - When we retire at night, we constructively review our day. Were we resentful?
    - Were we selfish?
    - Were we dishonest?
    - Were we afraid?
    - Do we owe an apology?
    - Have we kept something to ourselves which should be discussed with another person at once?
    - Were we kind and loving toward all?
    - What could we have done better?
    - Were we thinking of ourselves most of the time?
    - Or were we thinking of what we could do for others, of what we could pack into the stream of life?
    03:03 - Daily Cooldown
    - What did I get done today? Did I do what I said I was going to do in my Daily Standup? What, if anything, is left over? How can I do better tomorrow?
    - What did I do well that I want to continue doing? What habits, patterns and behaviors did I engage in today that I want to continue to work on and release? What fears or resentments did I have today, if any?
    - Did I meditate?- Guided, breathwork, doesn’t matter; just sitting with myself and my body - for at least 15 minutes. What kind of meditation did I do? How long? How did I feel before vs. after meditation?
    - Did I dedicate at LEAST one hour to INSERT YOUR BUSINESS/PROJECT HERE today? What did you work on? What do you need to work on tomorrow? How will this help grow the business?
    - Did I clean the house? Vacuum for 5 minutes, when you use dishes, wash and put them to dry, put away laundry (takes 15 minutes max and you can put the TV on)- by EOD. Did I? Is there anything that I missed?
    - Did I help at least one person in some way- whether providing a ride, listening to them, giving them a call or text to check in, giving a homeless person or someone in need food/water/a hug/money. Did I? Who did I help? How did I help them? How did I feel afterwards?
    - Did I exercise? Time limit does not matter. Rings being closed does not matter. Specifics don’t really matter. Just show up for yourself. What did I do to honor myself by exercising today? How did I feel before vs. after?
    - Did I prioritize my morning routine (before 0630)? As soon as I woke up, did I pray? Did I write in my reflections journal? Did I meditate? Did I pull an affirmation card? Did I complete my Daily Standup? Did I read Codependent No More Affirmations? Did I make my nightly routine a priority (before 2130)? Did I do my nightly inventory?
    - Go to sleep at the same time and wake up at the same time during the week. Allow for ONE hour of variation on the weekend. Did I wake up on time? Am I on track to be asleep on time?
    - How do you feel today went? How did you speak to yourself today? How did you love yourself today? Did you honor the word you chose from your daily standup?

    hi! I also struggle with traumatic memory loss and it was really a hard process to actively recognize that but i’m still struggling with getting tasks done especially in anxious conditions as my brain just chooses to block everything and i’m in a state of survival the entire day and sometimes i don’t even realize i’m in fight mode. Do you perhaps use notion for these daily loggings? Could you perhaps share the template? Much love 💕
