      Cheers Matty. Yeah I tried making something out of PVC pipe a year or so back and it worked but I had no way to easily get it out while reeling in a fish. When I saw the Live Pole I thought it would be perfect and I think with a little pracice I'll get it correct for future videos!

    Great ski Paul, Cu on the water soon with my new Seedoo upgrades, I am a Seedoo fan, as you know. Same reason as yourself, but started on a Seedoo.
    I have a XI3 trolling motor hooked up to 9" Lowrance ( soon to be 12" HDS) using a NMEA network, yes trolling motor is expensive , about 4K AUD (3K USD) all up with mounts and lithium battery, but the only way it works effectively is a front mount . The biggest advantage is actually not spot lock but the ability to vary my speed/drift when fishing in deep water when wind and current are not helping . I can fish in a greater range of diverse weather conditions with the trolling motor than without it . Penalty is extra weight 20 Kg on nose of ski and 14kg at the rear .
    I am the friend that thinks its great , provided its a front mount!, after 3 years my engine hours are about 150
    Looking forward to catching up soon when back in country and seeing your Ultimate "Yamaha" setup in person. Let the debate begin!
    cheers

    Congrats on your new ski Paul, Great overview.
    Did you have to eliminate one of your exhaust tubes when you installed the aux gas tank?
    Did you consider locating your transducer inside the hull using the duck seal instead of off the stern?
    You've been a great resource for those of us getting into Jetski fishing, many thanks & please keep those videos coming. Cheers!!

    • @Jetcast
      @Jetcast  10 месяцев назад

      Hi Hal. No, they’re intake vents and no they remained as standard. I haven’t had any real drama with the rear mounted transducer so didn’t consider moving it really. It’s early days so yet to see how good the more powerful transducer goes. Thanks for your kind words of support!

  • @1greghawk
    @1greghawk 10 месяцев назад

    Surprised you didnt go for the thru hull transducer. Ive had both rear mounted and thru hull, both equally as good a image and signal, but thru hull is peace of mind not worrying about shallow water or grounding letting the transducer get damaged or even break off. Awesome rig . Such a well thought out fit out mate

      Hi Jennifer. Best get a quote from Shoreline Jetskis -if you’re in Australia. There’s a new 2024 model now plus deals being done by Yamaha. But as a guide you’d be looking roughly anywhere from $30-$40k (AUD) to fit one out to this level including an upgraded trailer etc. Send me an email if you’d like and I’ll send you a photo of the ski on trailer. Congratulations on the new ski. Very well setup, how do you fill the second tank? Where did you source the stainless rod holders forward? I may have to go to shoreline and say “build me the same as Jetcast”. Well done and many hours ahead on the water with lots of catches.

    • @Jetcast
      @Jetcast  10 месяцев назад

      Thanks Douger. There is a second filler cap above the regular one that is visible in the shot from the front in the workshop. So has it's own filler identical to the main one but is mounted nicely higher up ut still on the outside so you won't spill fuel inside your front storage area. And yes Shoreline did it all including the rod holders. Make sure to tell them you saw the video! :) Thanks again for watching my videos.

    • @Jetcast
      @Jetcast  10 месяцев назад

      Thanks mate! 12" would be nice but I feel like it will start to get in the way. We do all sorts of fishing depending on season. Fishing the bust-ups for tuna and mackerel means I am casting lures over the front of the ski, and the added height might be too much of an obstruction. Dollars- not much change out of $40KAUD (about $25K USD) for everything on the trailer and registered. You can start with FXHO, 6" sounder and rear cooler around $30K AUD I'd say. Thanks for watching! Please spread the word about the channel! :)

    WA rules have just changed that it doesnt matter what size PWC you can go past 5Nm off shore but we still restricted to sun up and sun down rules so no dark riding even if you have lights
    We are so behind the times in this state..

    • @Jetcast
      @Jetcast  10 месяцев назад

      I think we need to lobby the regulators to ask exactly what is different from a properly equipped fishing PWC and a boat? It’s very discriminatory that someone who doesn’t want or can’t afford a “boat” has additional restrictions placed on them.

    Thanks for the video! I've been considering getting a ski for fishing the reefs up in Cairns. What do you figure your fuel range is with the additional 40L tank? What kind of weather are you comfortable going out in?

    • @Jetcast
      @Jetcast  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thank for watching the video Tyler. I'd plan trips on around 2km per litre on a fully laden FXHO like mine, so 200km would be a guide.That allows for some expansion air gap in the tank! Really depends on weather conditions for range but that would be an average that you could work on. It's often more like 2.5km or more per litre, but you should factor in some safety margin. Re: weather: they can handle it pretty rough but the body gives up before the ski does! So, under 10 is great, 10-15 is getting a little wet and marginal but very fishable (depends on swell and direction to wind of course), 16-20 is still OK for short runs but definitely not epic journeys out to the reef! Also above 15 knots it can be very wet so take a ride jacket to remain warm in the wind chill. In fact, most of the time over 15 is a bit too uncomfortable to enjoy the fishing. Forget 20+, or any westerly winds over 15 as the short and steep chops kills you when riding out, and slams again on the way in. The ski can generally handle it but the body can't! Best wishes!

    • @Jetcast
      @Jetcast  6 месяцев назад

      I hear you but shelters are not very practical for jetskis. You might notice that I’m covered head to toe these days and my face is pink from zinc cream. I figure this is sports fishing , not knitting, so I’m going to have to experience the elements. Someone once asked a motorcyclist why they do it, and the answer was that driving in a car feels like you’re at the cinema, whereas riding a bike is like being in the movie! That kinda sums it up for me. Cold, hot, wet, or dry, it’s all what makes it different! Btw I’ve had a stack of BCCs and SCCs over the years but these came from a youth of swimming, surfing, and wind surfing. I’m doing what I love while I can! Thanks for watching.
