Tutorials should be just like this. No corny jokes, no advertisements. Came for a tutorial on how to replace my battery. Found a tutorial on how to replace my battery.
Just went into the hardware store and watched your video and changed my battery. Kid says… oh yeah that the best video.. people use it all the time. I changed it right there in the store! Great job!!
This was a great video. It saved me from destroying my 2020 GMC keyfob. My fob was really stuck and didn't want to separate. Plus..., I really wasn't sure where it separated! You showed me. Once I got one side to lift slightly I shot a little bit of WD40 on the area. CAREFULLY. I knew the plastic was hardened over 4 years and was dry and stuck! The WD40 creeps and the two halves separated without further prying. Your video showed me that it WOULD come apart just like it did. The owners handbook was USELESS.. I would have destroyed the fob trying to pry it apart from different places. Thank you again.
I have been trying to figure out how to get into my fob for a few weeks now. I couldn’t unlock my doors so I used my emergency key and then my alarm goes off and my fob won’t shut it off so I had to hurry and start it, but then Onstar contacts me telling me someone has stolen my truck and I had to call in and give them my code so they will shut my alarm off and now I watch this extremely short video and see how dang simple it really is to change the battery. Thank you, you were a huge help.
WARNING!!! Be careful when you open this. In my case, the green circuit board stayed in the other half of the shell unlike what is seen in this video. Then when I started looking to find the battery, the circuit board fell out and landed on my bench. Luckily, it only fell a foot or so and no harm was done. So just be aware that this can happen. You should also discharge any static electricity on your body before doing this. As stated in the owner's manual, "When replacing the battery, do not touch any of the circuitry on the transmitter. Static from your body could damage the transmitter." This is a great video! Thanks for posting it! Yesterday, I was getting some sort of message to the effect that the vehicle could not detect my key fob. Never got a low battery warning which the user manual says should happen. I measured the open cell voltage on the old battery. It was 2.9 volts. These batteries are rated at 3 volts and the new battery measures 3.3 volts which is normal for a fresh new battery. So hopefully this is all that was wrong. Time will tell. Would like to hear what other messages folks got when their battery went low.
Thank you! Was just going to change my remotes battery and the cover wasn’t coming off easily so I watched your vid just to make sure I was remembering correctly. Now reassured and not worried about breaking the expensive remotes!
Thank you so much. I would never have known how to change the battery. In fact, I didn't know they had batteries until my car dash said to replace remote battery. Tks so much for this video. I have a 2019 GMC Terrian and the same key fob
Thanks for the video! My 2018 Terrain had the low battery warning come up so this worked very well! Note: I had to twist and push my key to pop off the plastic backing but it worked without damaging the fob.
Thank you I watched this while at Advanced Auto Parts and they won’t open a damn key fob and it worked perfectly. Now my wife can use her fob instead of mine!
Hell yes @KeyFobRob. This stand was charging me $25 for battery replacement. I'll have you know a guy passing by said "Bro, KeyFobRob on RUclips. I bet yours is on there" Now in hindsight, I hope that guy isn't just there standing by killing this other guy's business haha.
My 2020 gmc after that makes me put the key for in the hidden pocket in the second console or it won't start up.. and my dash light tells me to get the steering column serviced. Any ideal??
