They said before the Kickstarter that there would be a beta shortly after the Alpha. The reason they are focusing on the US market is because it's the biggest, most dynamic and wealthiest market. If it succeeds there, it doesn't need success anywhere. They haven't said this, but it's obvious. I'm certain any LGS that wants to order the beta, they can. But most LGSs don't take risks on new games. Rudy and Team Covenant do, so they're rewarded. They've said from the beginning that there'd be a beta and that there'd be maybe 1 set per year after that. Each set would remain in print for a long period. That probably means a year or two. So, no one's missing out on beta, just some people will get it before others
@Ben Trading Cards I wouldn't doubt it. But have they actually said that. I know Alpha was 28,000 boxes but that was at the height of the crazy market. Maybe things have cooled so much that it's less.
I don't know if you are aware but Beta and Alpha is not exactly the same! Beta will NOT contain the Frank Frazetta cards and the pre con decks avatar artwork will also be different and they will be removing a card or 2, so it'll be closer to just 400 or 401 card set. They have mentioned this a few times in discord and videos. Also pokemon increased their BB to 150 lol this didn't age well.
$150 isn't that bad when you consider pokemon is 10 cards per pack sorcery is 15. people are just getting all anxious because they want the product they ordered. we should just wait for an official release and im sure Erik and team sorcery will address problems as they arise
Sorcery follows the 36 boosters per box rule. 39 was only applied to Alpha, after shipping got delayed for 2023, as an apology for backers. Alpha precons will also feature a booster for the same reason
Thanks for the update Ben. Tbh I forgot I backed Sorcery until I saw your video haha I guess that's what happens when the end of a KS and when they deliver product spans over a year apart. Like many have said, I think doing the Beta is too pre-emptive - I definitely think they should have printed the cards but not announced it until at least after people started getting their KS products. I order my booster box just to get Eric's signed card and other bonuses but I can see people that perhaps spent thousands on the KS getting quite angry at this news
People are missing the point that these are all hand painted cards and with everything in the world going up in price $150 for a beta booster box is fair.
For the quality of the cards and amazing artwork 150 is a good price. What I have see recently are other places offering pre orders for beta for 210 and up since team covenant closed preorders. I think they will figure out better logistics for distribution in the future.
Their stated intent has been to have Beta hit shortly after Alpha so once folks start seeing Sorcery in the wild they will be very close to a release they can buy, rather than waiting some unknown period and losing interest.
I think because this is so new they are using one source (team covenant) to distribute this first set. Im sure distribution will change when the game grows. The promo cards are fine now with only one distributor. Might be conflict if interest in the future to draw buyers to team covenant later.
Beta is being made so that the game can have an official release. They can't grow a game if there is no product for people to buy. Alpha was the testing ground to see if the game could take off. Beta is a wider release. If you didn't know about Sorecery back in March of 2022, then the Beta printing is your way to get the release of their game. Simply put, beta exists so that actual people can play the game. Not producing a beta edition at all is letting Alpha just be a one and done game. A wider print run of the cards need to exist if they want to build a game out of it. But, i am by no means suporting the moves that were made in only giving Team Covenant exculsive access to allow pre orders. Despite their intent or reasoning, it builds HORRIBLE trust with other game stores that would have carried the game. I honestly hope this issue can be resolved soon.
There is no issue of them printing Beta, but the distribution and price range made people a bit disappointed. You were right on their Team Covenant decision.
didnt buy ks because the shipping to europe was 20 or so per box. then stores would receive double the boxes for some tiers than the regular player/buyer for the same price. now theyre already talking beta when they havent even shipped alpha. guess it was alright if ure a store in the US lol
I did the collector tier to the UK (2 cases) and I paid £50 for shipping total. Not sure where you've got your information from unless they floated an estimated price in the beginning and that put you off.
I hate the fact the only place to buy beta is from Team Covenant. That is absolutely stupid as they've marked up the boxes. For a game that isn't even out there should be better outlets to get it. Team Covenant destroyed FFGs LCGs years ago with all the BS extra stuff they got while other stores didn't. This feels like the same thing all over again.
A beta before the the first ks set is even out looks desperate money grabbing while they can this will kill the KS market knowing a beta is on the way very soon why would anyone buy it the beta set should of been 2024 along side a new set.
Definitely not a money grab, they raised over 4 million in the Kickstarter, there releasing beta because you can no longer obtain alpha as it's been sold out via kickstarter
If you release an alpha and then it's another 1-2 year delay before beta comes out, that would kill any hype around the game. People that backed the kick starter should relax. Their alpha boosters will be worth exponentially more than beta boosters if the game takes off, but it's only going to take off if they execute the launch and the game is accessible shortly after videos start popping up everywhere
they should make the Beta print and play for free if they are worried about gameplay testing, how greedy for making NZ$ 5,784,804 which is around $3.66M USD
That’s a lot of money for the next 3 years. Print to play should be encouraged. But they need more money for top notched artist for the next sets too. It’s a difficult balance.

Me too. Sometimes i remember just when it’s delivered. 😁. I’m quite doubtful of the success of a set per year model. We’ll see.

im tempted to buy this even tho i already backed the kickstarter. i dont want to open the alpha box but i will open the beta box.
Beta will be widely available at LGSs. It’s also cool to have Beta as collection.
Their stated intent has been to have Beta hit shortly after Alpha so once folks start seeing Sorcery in the wild they will be very close to a release they can buy, rather than waiting some unknown period and losing interest.
They have to clearly mention that in the announcement. Hopefully they’re working on it.
@@BenTradingCards They've definitely said that elsewhere, but I agree that the communication hasn't been singular and cohesive.

I’m from Nz and it’s crazy to me I’ve got to pre order boxes from the US first
I’m sure they’ll gonna fix that.
I hadn't heard about Rudy getting a special promo card. That's interesting.
Maybe when the products are delivered to him.
Feel like it's a little high, still got two. 👍
When is the delivery for those Beta?

I think yours will be from the EU distro, which brings down the cost of shipping. Buying from TC in US will be more expensive as what qfx stated.
