An athiest agreed with me that his athiesm justifies all evil. We talked about cannibalism and hitler vs jews.
I said, in your polytheism, man was created by stardust particles which renders you worse than idolaters, because idolaters do not believe that their inanimate idols could create anything while you took inanimate particles as creators. Thus you are polytheist in Lordship.
And then you believe that everyone will vanish into oblivion as stardust particles. So who was right between the cannibal vs his victim or hitler vs his victims?
So he said that the people tarrying on earth decides it. And I said, what if they favoured cannibalism just like your culture justified homosexuality, transsexuality and pornography? Or if hitler won the war?
Thus, athiesm is very dangerous. It renders the doing of good vain and worthless as it will eventually become equal with all the evil. And it justifies all the evil once it becomes equal with all the good in the end.
Thus Allah did not allow athiests Jizyah status or protection. Because they are a menace bent on corruption and beautifying indifference, despair, nothingness and the thinking that this world exists in vain, injustice and with falsehood. Rather it exists with absolute truth, justice and meaning as Allah سبحانه وتعالى said:
      وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاءَ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا بَاطِلًا ۚ ذَ‌ٰلِكَ ظَنُّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا ۚ فَوَيْلٌ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنَ النَّارِ
And We created not the heaven and the earth and all that is between them with falsehood! That is the consideration of those who disbelieve! Then woe to those who disbelieve from the Fire! [Sad 38:27]
It didn't matter if they deceived the whole world or just remained silent or even existed. Both outcomes means that everyone vanishes with one another as stardust in the end. No one had the truth, and there was no right and wrong. And they have no history or traces on the earth.
You annihilate them, continuous Jihaad, even taking them as slaves is allowed. They have no rights in Islam.

A lot of atheistic arguments are based on a liberal morality that criticises religion, which liberal morality is its own thing that most atheists know very little about. Like the opposition towards inequalities, societal roles, authoritarianism and etc etc.
Sam is a smart guy but he is a victim of being under-researched when it comes to politics and theology (him studying it in university doesn't mean anything, his videos about his degree just shows how much he misinterpreted or incorrectly independently elaborated on a lot of the ideas presented to him in theology).
The other thing is that Sam isn't just an atheist, he is also a liberal, his arguments against religion mostly consist on the basis of the liberal agenda which already has a lot of Inherent flaws unrelated to religion.
They're praised because their basis of criticism is based on liberalism and very basic forms of it which is easily agreeable and understandable for most people, which on the contrary makes religion look a bit silly if you're quite an amature on the subject like pretty much all of the people that watch Sam are.

@@keyboardevangelist According to Christians, it has been “this is the end times” for about two thousand years, and apart from some vague predictions about war and earthquakes, that are as prophetic as saying it’s going to rain, nothing has happened. So, I suggest you follow the advice of Matthew 24:36 “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”
I will note that like most Christians, you equate threats with love. Is fear the only emotion you have?
When it comes to determining reality, I find it useful to compare expectations against observation. In Plato’s cave, if what we see is but a shadow play then we would expect to be able to see the hand of the Puppeteer. If we live in God’s grace then we would expect to see the hand of God.
There are two possible universes. In one universe everything that happens is the will of God. In the other universe events follow each other without any plan, lurching blindly from one event to another.
If we look at natural disasters, sometimes the innocent are saved and sometimes they are not. Are God’s favoured people favoured by the universe?
In every way that we would expect to see a difference between the God universe and the Godless universe, it is the one that matches the Godless universe that we actually experience.
And if I was to forgo all experience and assume that the spiritual realm is real, and given that I follow more of the 614 commandments than most Christians, I will be punished for eternity for not accepting responsibility for a crime that was committed by my punisher. I’m sorry but that’s not a definition of good that I can accept.
I know your fanfic has God as the hero, but the story just paints him as the straight up villain.
The first two people this perfect designer created go scrumping. A crime so horrid that every other human ever created will have to be punished by eternal torture. Some might say that’s a bit of an overreaction. But this is the God that killed almost every living creature because people where bad in some undefined way (probably someone forgot to return a library book). The same God who obliterated Sodom and Gomorrah for other undefined badness, but saved the only good people, a father and his two incestuous daughters.
But in his second book he did lighten the tone a bit, with the message of worship me or burn forever.
So, even if I was to succumb to your belief, I just wouldn’t be able to accept your God as a good guy.

Which is to say that God or no God, Big Bang or no Big Bang, every feeling or thought that any of us might have isn't felt any less tangibly one way or another. Either way, love or lust or, in this case, respect (a result of evolution, of God, your pick) are both present and compelling no matter whether it matters in the grand scheme of things. Yours and others' actions have an effect on you both physically and psychologically that's felt on such a personal and individualistic level that it really doesn't matter whether there's objective meaning. Think about when you've had sex, had children, felt love, been in the company of people you genuinely enjoy, ect. In those moments (for the most part, at least some of the time), you're so caught up in living that your life's inherent value on a macroscale isn't even considered. @@michaelsayad5085 Exactly. Objectively, it doesn't matter. It only matters subjectively. Which is also relevant in the question of whether much we do matters even if there is objective meaning and God exists. For example, if something irrelevant to your immortal soul (say, watching a favorite TV show or something similarly trivial) happens while you're alive on Earth, and if it doesn't really affect anything ever in the long run (as in it's unlikely that for most people watching Spongebob will effect whether they go to Heaven, let alone whether Jesus comes back and the world ends), then does it have any purpose objectively? Not really. Anything you do will be null after the Second Coming as long as it doesn't effect your eternal soul in a way that changes its (supposed) eventual outcome. Even if God is proven to exist much of what you do in your day-to-day life still lacks any meaningful impact overall. There are a million different ways that someone as a Christian might go through life while retaining and maintaining their faith. And given the fact that what gives Christians objective meaning is faith and the result of that faith, all of those million ways are inconsequential so long as that other single path leads to the same place. Which begs the question: why do anything at all that doesn't relate wholly to your going to Heaven? Why flirt with this girl, or paint this painting, or watch this TV show, or make this choice instead of this other choice that would lead you down the exact same path to eternal life, when the result is the same? The only possible answer is that you did this specific insignificant thing at this specific insignificant time not because it had any objective consequence, but because you felt like it. On a physical and psychological level it felt good, even if, for example, it was only some stick figure drawing you did when you were five, or anything similar. Regardless, it will all end in your inevitable eternal existence.

Though, it is true that our main focus should be on heaven and getting others into heaven. This is what the purpose of our earthly lives are and this is why our earthly lives are embued with eternal significance.
I don't think momentary happiness is important if God does not exist, however, I get your point that our momentary happiness ends up the same regardless of the truth from our point of view.

@@tme98 the question was based ONLY on arguments made by Dawkins himself and the discussion before it. That particular question was the punchline. This is what I understood: Morality is something that evolved in us through natural selection. In other words, what we consider immoral/suffering is “bad” only because of how we evolved, morally. Rape is wrong today, again, because of how we evolved morally. Had we evolved differently morally speaking (like the anomalies / differences in finger number example), could we still consider rape as “bad” in that scenario? Dawkins said: yes, it would be bad because it causes suffering. Alex said: we only think of it as “suffering” because of how we evolved, but we could have evolved differently. (And this can go in circles).
That’s what Alex was asking. I don’t think Dawkins did not understand; he understood. He meant that Alex was pushing logic to an extent that is too theoretical / too philosophical, and there not enough relevance to real life. But the logic is definitely there.

FloatingMan yeah I said peer not equal. The two words have different meanings you know. Michael Bay is technically speaking Steven Spielberg’s peer. “Peer” in this context means “someone who is similarly knowledgeable in the same field to the level that they are able to speak the same informed language, and actively engage with each other’s points. For example: you seem not to be my linguistic peer, but that’s not me saying I’m smarter than you- it just means we aren’t privy to the same information. So I do not mean that Alex is Dawkins’ intellectual EQUAL; although frankly, I don’t worship the man, and would reject the presumption that fame, credentials, or influential works necessarily indicate intellectual superiority.

The Bible says nothing about electricity and physics says a lot. I imagine y'all didn't have arguments about that. Also physics says nothing about how we should conduct our lives.

    • @georgetait386
      @georgetait386 Год назад

@@theboombody You are correct, but the bible does give the earth as being 6000 years old. Physics does have something to say about that. The bible claims that Jesus turned water into wine, chemistry (derived largely from quantum mechanics) does have something to say about that too.
If you are to take a literary stance on the Bible and use it as a basis for morality, fine. Not my preferred method, but fine. If you are to make physical claims about the earth and the universe based on the Bible. That is where the claims are demonstrably false. So it draws into question the validity of the other elements, said to be the infallible word of an all-powerful, all-knowing being, when that being is wrong about many things.
