Although I am a millennial girl ,rebellious by nature and usually don’t oppose someone rebelling against a mother in law, what Maneka did by rebelling against Indira is absolutely unacceptable.

Indira was a country's leader with lot of responsibilities and meneka didn't just make a decision which concerns the family but made a decision which involved personal responsibilities of Indira Gandhi.
It is more like, she went behind Indira Gandhi's back and cheated on her trust (although she was not suppressed or unfairly taken advantage of in any way. I usually don't object the "bahus" who rebel in such circumstances in personal family matters )
