  • In our increasingly achievement-driven culture, many of us are letting a perfectionist mindset run our lives.
Doing things perfectly, having perfect qualities; anything less just proves you’re a failure.
Hyojeong used to be one of them, and she still finds herself struggling with it sometimes even though she knows that perfection is a lie and an illusion.
There is certainly nothing wrong with striving for a better life. However, despite the many results that “trying hard” may bring, it can make you lose touch with your most natural, authentic and spontaneous self, which is the essential source of creativity and all the juice of life.
In this talk, Hyojeong will be sharing her story of how she struggles and deals with the perfectionist tendency influenced by her cultural upbringing to a certain extent, by using examples of the daily activities that taught her creative joy.
She will also explain why creative life is needed not just for the individuals but for the world that we live in. She believes our creativity connects to the femininity that the world is in need, and shares how both men and women can get in touch with their creative and feminine sides to make a better, not perfect, world. [Nationality: South Korea]
Hyojeong Shim is a small RUclipsr with a channel that has about 20,000 subscribers and 100 videos through which she doles out life advice and shares her worldview, in hopes that the viewers would draw inspiration, solace, and empowerment from them. She usually makes a living as a language teacher. She also likes to call herself a dancer and a poet, although none of them she does professionally. She hopes to build an educational community someday that is open to both children and adults, and let them feel the magic of the artistic and creative side of education, whether that be through learning languages, dance, physical exercise, writing, or philosophical discussion. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

    빅키씨!
Guess what I like most about U? 빅키 being who she is 🙂
Yes, we have to accept we that we are not and never will be perfect. It is what it is.Whether we like it or not, a lot of the pain we endure in life is a critical component to our growth. That is the silver lining. There aren’t any short cuts.
    Good vid!
