With how current motor journalism mostly measures a car’s performance in terms of straight-line acceleration, this review accentuates the sheer importance of suspension, brakes, tyres, and so many other factors of a car’s holistic performance. I am extremely glad that Porsche hasn’t given up striving to not only increase numbers but also refine what’s beyond those numbers. These reviews are always a breath of fresh air.
You did a great job reviewing this GTS in different situations: in spirited drive, in normal mode as a daily driver, start-stop system... etc. All the other reviews only stated how the long gear ratio puts the car as a bad daily driver, you will be speeding in 3rd gear. However they were driving in Sport or Sport plus mode. As you have demonstrated, in Normal mode, it was in 7th gear at about 55mph. Your review single handedly relief my concern about the long gear ration issues. And you are the only one that showed the manual seat adjustment. Thank you very much.
I'm trading in my c8 z51 for a 24 cgts 4.0 coming in.. I like the Vette but I'm driving a computer.. I don't want a computer. I don't want electronics are the perception I have a computer controlling me. I get a smile on my face in any of the caymens... The c8 is a comfy Cadillac.
I considered the C8. You get a lot more speed for less money, and by that narrow standard the Porsche is overpriced. OTOH, the GTS is already fast enough that you can't explore its potential anywhere but on a track. The 'vette just feels large, while the GTS drives smaller than it is. It's also less gaudy, and the interior feels like the designers always said, "form is important, but should be second to function." That's why there's a GTS in my garage.
Hopefully, my next Porsche will become a 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 before the transition to electric. High-horsepower cars are fast in a straight line. The 718 GTS 4.0 is fast everywhere else. Timestamp 25.33, the 7-speed PDK is an amazing gearbox. However, a 6-speed manual creates driver involvement and a spirited experience! To everyone owning a 718 Cayman GTS 4.0, "You only live once!" Enjoy your "me" time away from life's hustle and bustle! BTW: GR8 review, MPH!
I’m currently in the market for the same car. As yet, this is the only Miami Blue I’ve seen in a GTS, so I like the rarity of it. Plus, in the sun it puts a smile on your face. Think that GTS pack with the white stitching looks perfect. Yes the interior is a bit dated, but it’s a small price to pay, and I kinda like it. I’m sure the next electric cayman will have all the new electronics, but I like that this is a drivers focussed car, is sold on the car itself.
Great review…I hope to have one ordered next week. I love my 2021 Macan S, but really want the more sports car like experience of the Cayman GTS 4.0…and who can resist the beautiful, yet simple lines of this car.

Great video 🤓!!! Last February 2023, I acquired my new 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 which has the 4L NA flat six cylinder engine (same unit as a GT4) and a PDK gearbox. Power output (394 bhp) and torque (317 lb-ft) are a nice match to this car's sensible curb weight (~3200 lbs). The color is Gentian Blue metallic with a black/chalk all-leather interior and silver wheel rims. It's definitely an entertaining driver's car! So far, I've only done 452 miles but hopefully a lot more this coming Summer! The PDK is also a lot of fun (it's definitely quick) 🤓 All the best and thanks again from Colorado! Very impressed both by the vehicle and also your succinct, insightful review. I noticed you remarked on the handling response. Is it anything close to the feel of hydraulic steering?
Two very good cars - completely different driving experiences. The 718 GTS with the manual is an enthusiast's dream: connected, sonorous, and balanced. The C8 is comfortable, exceedingly quick, and (depending on the dealer), priced well. If it's my daily driver, I'd choose the C8. Otherwise, I'm all for the 718 GTS
notice how the "race-tex" had already taken a set on the driver's side seat bottom and looks mottled. it will be that way forever. and BTW, the trunk will accommodate a set (or two) of golf clubs if the woods are removed and placed in the area over the engine. at least they do in an older cayman and i have no reason to believe the trunk has been reduced in size.
11:31 that sports exhaust oh my god 😍😍😍 do u know what the base price is on this I looked it up and it said it was around 60 grand but I could b wrong 😁
how would you compare this to the 2002 M Roadster for $20,000? (straight 6, naturally aspirated, manual, RWD, 315 hp, 251 lb-ft torque, 3100 lbs, hydraulic steering)
Any time you are dealing with a mid-engine car, the dynamics are going to be sharper- the way it changes direction- compared to a front-engine vehicle.
I wish it didn’t cost so much- $90k base price before options and tax, so over $100,000 out the door for sure! Beautiful and fun. BUT NOT FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS WORKING PERSON. For the rest of there’s other more reasonable options: Toyota Supra, Subaru BRZ, Nissan Z (new); Mazda Miata; Ford Mustang; Chevy Camaro and Corvette and even BMWs Z4 or M4. All of these are much cheaper and also fun! But having said that, if you have the extra $100k and you want a great sports car, buy it! (Don’t forget the more expensive running costs too)
Compared to many Porsches these days, especially some air cooled models that may be 30 years older, $94k sounds downright cheap! But yes, they are expensive.
Hard to get both cars in the same place at the same time, but off the cuff, the 911 is smoother, more spacious, and arguably more “impressive” to behold. However, it’s just not as sharp or rewarding to drive as the Cayman GTS 4.0
Bottle test failed? What? Really? You have the special Cup Holders in front of the passenger seat! How can you say Fail!?!? Anyway, great review video! Thanks!
Both are excellent transmissions. But it depends what you are getting the car to do. PDK is quicker if you are going to track it, and if you live in LA or Chicago it can handle the stop and go traffic with ease. I will use it for weekend drives on twisties and love going through the gears. So my vote is for the manual.
@@thedudeabides1443 A year ago I’d have agreed. 10K miles later having driven with PDK I’m a convert. You can change gear easily as well as a manual. I’d never go back to a manual gearbox
11:45 The decision to place the ignition key on the left was drvien by copper wire shortages that Porsche had at that time. The copper wires were simply shorter for the left side...
I’m cross shopping a manual Cayman 2.0 and 8Y RS3. it’s a tough call with Northern Canada winters. Quattro is fantastic in the snow, but the manual Cayman in the summer…🤌😘 first world problems over here lol
No you won't. I just sold my 2014 Cayman S w/48k miles for only $23,500 less than what I paid for it 8.5 years ago. That's less than $240/month depreciation. Figure out a way to afford one now and enjoy it for the first 5 years for less depreciation than a Honda Accord.
Given governments’ plans to outlaw the sale of ICE powered vehicles, naturally aspirated & manual transmission sports cars will hold their value (or even appreciate) over the coming years. Buy now, while you still can.
Forget all hypercars, this is my dream car

Compared to many Porsches these days, especially some air cooled models that may be 30 years older, $94k sounds downright cheap! But yes, they are expensive.
@@nessuno5403 - true! 😊👍🏻
@@thedudeabides1443 - Expensive yes… but is the GTS Cayman/Boxster overpriced or worth the $100k price tag?
aren't the adaptive dampers an option that come with a softer suspension??
Adaptive sports suspension is standard. Gts specific tuning.
Are the shiny things metal or are just plastic tinted like metal?
Exterior or interior?
@@MilesPerHr interior
On that road you’ll be in one gear the whole time with the manual, pdk best way to go, F1 them paddles lol
You might want to blur the speedo.
Can you do a comparison review with a 911 base Carrera?
Hard to get both cars in the same place at the same time, but off the cuff, the 911 is smoother, more spacious, and arguably more “impressive” to behold. However, it’s just not as sharp or rewarding to drive as the Cayman GTS 4.0
I really like the lack of options on this one. Hey, is that actually a cassette player door on the radio?! Some cars don't even have cd players now.
It’s the cover for the SD card slots
High performance NA V6 engines FTW forever
Bottle test failed? What? Really? You have the special Cup Holders in front of the passenger seat! How can you say Fail!?!? Anyway, great review video! Thanks!
"Big bottle test fails? Uh...did you consider trying the actual cup holders (hidden above glove box)?
Yes. It's too big for those.
hi
this car has the OPF exhaust filter ?
rgs
I do not believe so
Stunning. I want!
Only thing I’d change is that I’d order this car with a manual transmission instead of a PDK.
PDK is better 🔥🔥
Naw manual
Both are excellent transmissions. But it depends what you are getting the car to do. PDK is quicker if you are going to track it, and if you live in LA or Chicago it can handle the stop and go traffic with ease. I will use it for weekend drives on twisties and love going through the gears. So my vote is for the manual.
Steven Krekeler totally agree. Manual not good for high traffic or if the car is your daily driver. For a “fun” car nothing beats the manual!

Hello From Russia!!!
Hello! Thanks for joining!
this vs F Type R?! (same price)
This. 100%
They don´t make it anymore :(
So good
Hate the slo mo camera for interior & driving. Excellent video otherwise
Oh! You're the POV dude and also speak? And have you yet driven the Vette or?
Yep! And I have the Corvette video on my channel 👍😁
Please accept my sincere wishes for happiness, health, and prosperity. Let all your cherished hopes and dreams come true!
Thank you! I appreciate it. You as well!
Still bummed that all this money and still can't fit golf clubs
Dude yes voice
You driving this fancy cars and me not , it’s not fair bruhh , not fair 😅😅
Took a lotta work, let me tell you 😉
Yes it very did 💫🌟
I’m cross shopping a manual Cayman 2.0 and 8Y RS3. it’s a tough call with Northern Canada winters. Quattro is fantastic in the snow, but the manual Cayman in the summer…🤌😘 first world problems over here lol
I'll be able to afford this in 5 year's after depreciation 😭
No you won't. I just sold my 2014 Cayman S w/48k miles for only $23,500 less than what I paid for it 8.5 years ago. That's less than $240/month depreciation. Figure out a way to afford one now and enjoy it for the first 5 years for less depreciation than a Honda Accord.
Given governments’ plans to outlaw the sale of ICE powered vehicles, naturally aspirated & manual transmission sports cars will hold their value (or even appreciate) over the coming years. Buy now, while you still can.
THİS İS GREATE video.
