FOR ANYONE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THIS: Try following the steps in the video but DO NOT POWER THE PHONE BACK ON after you plug it in. Simply hold the "volume down" key down until the recovery screen appears. Then select Restore or Update on your computer. This is the only procedure that worked for my daughters iPhone 7!!

When I do this with my iPhone 7 exactly the same way I still cannot get the iTunes connect screen to pop up it's only just the apple logo and then goes to the regular home screen. Nothing on iTunes on my lap top will pop up either. The cord I'm using is good and the volume button works. What's the problem?
while it is updating what should it say its in recovery mode itunes is downloading a software update this this phone and will install when the download is complete and on the phone it just has a charger and itunes picture what does it mean

You will need to delete a few personal files like: pictures, videos and/or music...etc to try and get enough storage space for the restore and update files to run. Or try to copy them off to your computer or a flash drive so they are not lost if you need to save them.
