Kh2 kairi is much better in design and voice actor in my opinion, I like the slightly older and deeper version of her voice. It was more calming.
You know what is weird? Sora is the only one who looks older in his KH3 design. Riku and Kairi actually looks younger in their KH3 design. Kairi especially.

But soras behaviour is sometimes more childish or unsmarter goofier in kh3 than in kh2 ..imo

I actually think they were able to replicate his person from 2 to 3 perfectly. A tad bit naive sometimes, sassy, and serious when he needed to be.

Okay. I’m so glad everyone else in the comments prefers Kairi’s long hair. I remember when the trailer dropped showing she cut her hair short, I was devastated because I loved how she looked in KH2. I get long hair is harder to animate or whatever but I really hope they let it grow out again in future KH games.

The trend is that they base her look on what Utada Hikaru looks like at the time. Especially the hair style.

this is a big improvement on Kairi especially her voice, I didn't like how timid she seemed in KH3 when she gave a more confident vibe in Kh2 and she only had a few cutscenes to express it

I hate Kairi’s design in Kingdom Hearts 3. That’s the game where she’s supposed to look more confident and capable, and yet she just looks younger and more childish.

@@om58499 Help me understand. The way I originally understood it was that Way to Dawn represented Riku using both Light and Darkness. This was made clear in Re:CoM ending with Riku. But even after he made this "declaration" he still struggles with darkness. He says he's "accepted it" by the time he fights Roxas. The rest of Kh2 he is ashamed of his dark side. I can't remember if he got better in KH:3D.
So now reading your comment I can only interpret it that way to dawn signifies his transition from bad guy to good guy instead of symbolizing his acceptance of his light and darkness.

I feel like she would do a braided bun. Keep it out of her face but at the same time still have her “princess of heart” kind of feel. But that’s just me. 🤷♀️
Nomura confirmed the reason in an interview that he based Kairi’s hairstyle on Utada Hikaru’s(the singer for the KH songs) for each game she was in. KH 1 short hair when she sang simple and clean, when she sang sanctuary she had long hair, and for face my fears + don’t think twice the Utada now has short hair again.
I always liked the kh2 designs but I think they do look a little off in the more modern artstyle. They look less like they're wearing clothes and more like they're plastic toys. Since the artstyle is more... Realistic I guess? It's certainly more detailed.
The older artstyle was much more cartoony so a less grounded style fit more in that context I think? I'm not smart enough for this kind of thing haha.

watching this again axel has the best set up for weaponry. he can still use his chakrams as well as his keyblade for versatility in fighting styles.

I prefer the outfits in kh3, but I prefer the hair in kh2. Riku and Kairi’s new hairstyles make them look way too young, especially Kairi.
@@Allisonwonderland47 I agree, at minimum Riku shouldn't had his hair cut even shorter during his first visit in the dark world, now he looks waaayy too much like Yozora. Riku with his longer hair (Kh2 or DDD style) would have help him stand out more instead of making him and Yozora like dopplegangers. Which is not logic in the first place since Yozora is suppose to parralel Sora and not Riku.

Man I always really did like Kairi’s hairstyles in Kh1 and 2. They just suited her so well. Especially since they were supposed to mirror Utada’s current hairstyle at the times. But her hair in Kh3 makes her look like such a little baby. It’s weird. She’s like 15/16 in Kh3, but she looks 10. Heck she looks younger than she does in Kh1!
I also really dislike Kairi’s voice direction in this game. It’s like the director told Stoner “Yeah, try to sound as much like you’re whispering while talking without actually whispering”.

No disrespect to Alyson Stoner, but this is Kairi. Her entire being is better here, voice, appearance, etc. This Kairi just fits the series better in my opinion.

What were the creators hoping for by devolving the three's designs, when a portion of the audience didn't like their KH 3 designs, myself included. It's obvious they rushed and didn't put much effort into this.

No, in the past the eyes had weird colors and textures.

I believe it's the model from 2.9 with working physics

Richy was the one who adjusted it. He had the eyes on default before so all he had to do was make the pupils smaller.
it would have been better if Terra saw Riku with long hair just like his vision in kh3
