Yeah.... Eventhough the schedule for the players to play with each other opponents has to be drawn with whom they have to play...... It was so fortunate that sisters have played in the final and wonderful to watch.... Great match.....

Just seen Serena’s interview where she said that when her dad was getting serious about Venus’ tennis career, Serena would train with her mum more who she says was a good tennis player. That was probably instinct since it was her first Wimbledon.

I was born in ‘88 so I was about 14 during this Wimbledon tournament. I was also born and raised in Compton, so I definitelyyyyy remember watching the Williams sister face one another at a Wimbledon Final for the first time.
As a father, watching your daughters play against each other must be nerve racking, despite being prod of them both. I would just stay at home and congratulate them both at the end of the game, no matter who wins.

the greatness of these women, i am forever in awe. i wonder if Venus was suffering from the symptoms from Sjogren’s at this point and how much it would’ve impacted her career had she been diagnosed sooner or later. i’m glad she got her diagnosis and has been able to care for herself accordingly.

Venus plays so good. Why doesn't she have the same intensity against her sister, why? Of all the women, Venus is the only one who puts Serena on defensive side. She has the weapons but doesn't use as well as her sister uses hers.
Davenport used to as well when her ball striking and groundstrokes were working for her. Henin too because she was so good as an all court player that she had her working really hard for winners.
I believe it’s because she looks at Serena as her little sis over an opponent in matches after beating Serena in the 2001 us open

After watching Steffi Graf in my teens, after her retirement I thought well we’re never going to see anything close to her greatness again and I was kind of sad, but then along came Serena Williams. She was amazing.
But Serena had far inferior opposition.
Steffi played 13 slam finals against players who are among the top 10 greatest ever.
Serena not even one slam final.

Serena with all of her achievements in grandslams is just amazing. However many will argue including me that serena peaked the most when the overall competition became weak. Top players became so inconsistent the last 5-10 years that they lost in the early rounds and that gave a huge window for serena and kudos to her for claiming it; nobody can challenge her and we all know what happens especially when she is "on"
Well, that is simply not true. Serena won her first 13 Grand Slams in the era of Venus, Henin, Hingis, Davenport, Clijsters, Sharapova, Capriati, Mauresmo, Pierce, Kuznetsova and others.
Her second peak happened between 2012 and 2016 where she beat Sharapova and Venus from the previous generation, but also hall of famers like Kvitova, Azarenka, Muguruza, Li and Halep who each have 2 Slams, Kerber who has 3. She has never wona Grand Slam without beating at least one Grand Slam champion.
Well we can say the same for Graf because the whole world knows Seles was whooping her tail regularly before she got stabbed.
@@regulusarcturus Davenport won her last slam in January 2000 and was out of the top 10 after 2005 (Serena had 7 slams then).
Hingis won her last slam in January 1999 and retired in February 2003 (Serena had 5 slams then).

Mauresmo was out of the top 10 by 2007 (Serena had 8 slams).
Pierce had a career-ending injury in October 2006 (Serena had 7 slams).

Kuznetsova is a player with only a 65 % career winning percentage which is not among the top 50 in the open era.
In the 2010s many clowns managed to win slams.

Serena looks like a completely different person. It's interesting how she could have gained weight yet still be a better athlete than she was back then. She even runs faster!
