2002 RG was a very special one not only for Serena, but, Venus showcased her athleticism & proved herself to be a legendary all surface player that year as well.
Yes, she showed her athleticism with 5 winners and 27 unforced errors in 1 set.
This was one of the weakest quality slam finals in 21st century, both players made a gigantic ammount of errors

Do you by any chance have Serena vs Capriati match from the semifinals at this French Open in a similar quality to this final? I know there are already HLs of that match, but the quality is so low you can literally not see the ball (and I don't even mind bad quality in HLs of older matches, but this match in particular is incredibly difficult to find in any sort of decent quality).

Yeah, old games are hard to find on the web. I have the first 2 sets and excerpts of the third in a similar quality, the ball is visible there, and the video can be edited, but I don't know yet when I will post this video on the channel.

Strange match in the first set Serena was up 2-0, then Venus won the next five games to lead 5-2 then Serena won the next five games to win the first set 7-5. This was a sign of the beginning of the end for Venus dominance in the grand slams and Serena was about to dominate her and take over she couldn't cloes out the first set leading 5-2 and lost the second set easily and she was the number one player in the world at the time. Matches like this affected her confidence going forward and her injuries that came up made it worst and Venus never made it to another final or semi final at the French Open since 2002. Shame because she had the potential to win the French Open too.
Im curious to see how Venus got through the draw and into the final because she does not look comfortable at all...
Venus was a gazelle on Clay, that yr she dominated the Clay season & had a relatively tough draw through to the final. I'm actually surprised Venus never won RG.

Which is why I dont buy it when people say Williams Sisters matches weren't fixed. It is so obvious that it is. I dont think all of their matches were fixed. Some of them I feel like they genuinely gave their best. Some of them, its obvious that one of them wasn't giving their full effort.
@@secrets.295 This is such an uninformed comment. Players wouldn't be able to play their best against any player, let alone their siblings. Venus has had some nervy big matches throughout her career, this was her first RG final, it was expected of her to have some tight moments. It's almost as if people expect the Williams sisters to beat each other to pulps every time they meet. If Venus was to have a bad match against anyone else, people wouldn't bat an eye, but soon as she plays an underwhelming match against Serena, she's "fixing", this is the problem with spectators like you.
@@secrets.295 oh please. This is literally Venus’ only French Open final. It’s obvious it’s not her best surface. Just like Venus has given Serena some beatdowns on grass. Serena is the better all court player. That’s why she has won 3 French Opens. Nothing is fixed about their matches.

Venus was Aggressive up until 5-3 then after that it seems like she was just feeding the ball to Serena to attack it. Very suspicious.
It could be because both were making a high number of unforced errors. Perhaps Venus was trying to cut back on those by reducing the pace of her shots.
