I chose biochemistry because it gives you a lot of options after your undergrad. You can choose to go to medical school, dental school, pharmacy, etc. or you can do research in a lab, or you can get a job right out of college.
Exactly biochemistry depends on which university you chose for example mine we studied on our first two semesters Mathematics,Physics ,Chemistry like Organic , Analytical and General chemistry and also a lot of biology like Histology- Cytology -Anatomy -Genetics -Animal reproduction -embryology and a lot more so yeah it’s a very vast and interesting major and i’m so exited to learn the biochemistry subjects on my third semester! Thank you so much for mentioning this major 👍🏻❤️
2019 Biochemistry Grad here. We were also required to take 2 semesters of a science seminar class, where we presented any research we had done in a class or as part of an REU. I had done 2 separate projects (1 REU in Organic research and my senior project in BioOrganic Chemistry). They did this to give us good exposure to presenting scientific findings and test our overall understanding of the coursework and how it applies to our individual research. Since graduating I’ve worked as an analytical chemist, In a quality control laboratory, and now i’m getting ready to start in a Biomedical laboratory in a couple of weeks! A biochemistry education has made it pretty easy for me to get interviews and offers. Work hard and it will pay off!
