    Hi Randy,I have not drawn a tag yet for Wyoming but my brother is a resident. He drew the first 4 years he put in and I have never been on a hunt that was quite as fun. he has taken 4 bucks. Love the meat and the challenge of finding that right one. Now the sad news, this is his 4th year of not drawing a tag. Thanks for the videos and good luck on this years hunts.

    Randy I put too much pressure on my hunts and I see your videos and realize have fun and don’t let success mean tags filled. I came from a family that wild meat meant food for months now I’m not in that situation but at times I still get caught up thinking I have to kill for food. I need to realize more it is about the experience and the fun and get rid of that old logic.

    14,000,000 acres of public land in west had been locked up by farmers, ranchers, and outfitters. Not every unit has access to public land and maps don’t tell you what is a private road. Contact your congressman today. There is no reason for this other than greed .

    Randy, like many others, I totally enjoy ALL of your hunts and fully understand what it takes to get into areas where the game is. Like my dad use to tell me many years ago "Where the average Joe blow stops going, that's where you'll start to see the game". How true that is. What you share is RIGHT ON. I've been hooked on your hunts for a long time and totally enjoy them. One question for my own interest...What caliber do you hunt antelope with? I know there are many capable but just curious about your choice. And THANK YOU for all that you do in your presentations!

    What you do not realize is. The private landowners that spend their money improving the land and producing better wildlife and better habitat poor wildlife. The public land is everybody and their dog is just out there driving across it but yet not donating a d*** time to the situation. The private landowners do need to have some recognition.

    Randy I've been watching you for years but lately been curious on what calibers and bullets you use on some of this hunts .as on this two day pronghorn before your wife's surgery (🙏 for her recovery) antelope are small but that thing just hit the ground, or the elk hunts where they just fold over.i haven't taken an elk yet but been part on two kills and Ive taken some game with good shot placements ,but some of your elk just drop hard. Good Luck Good Hunting.

    Hi Randy,
    I have been doing Montana DIY elk hunts for quite some time. I am now looking to broaden my horizon with some Wyoming DIY antelope hunting. Can you direct me to a unit where I have a good chance of drawing a tag the first year, and have a good chance at an antelope. I am not worried about size my first year. I just want to put one on the ground. Thank You!

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  6 лет назад

      Any of the units east of I-25 will meet that requirement. Access will be more of a challenge, but tags are easy to draw and lots of antelope to be found when you save the access riddle.

  • @Mile_High_Prepper
    @Mile_High_Prepper 7 лет назад

    Randy, I value your opinion and have a question. I'm building a pronghorn rifle which will be the Howa 6.5 Creedmoor Alpine Mountain. My question is the scope. My options are the 2-12 VX-6 or the 3-15 VX-5HD. What do you use for pronghorn?

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  7 лет назад

      I have both of those. This pronghorn hunt was using a 7mm-.08 with a VX-6 in 3-18x. On my new 6.5CM has the same VX-6 on it.

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  6 лет назад +3

      Thanks for watching. They can zoom in closer in most instances, but I don't want them to. These stories are not about the shot that ends the hunt, rather about the hunt/species/landscape/people, so I don't want to focus on that by zooming in super tight when we make a shot. You will see that we zoom in some, but not as tight as you might see in other productions. That is by my choice. Hope that makes sense.

    Hey Randy, the Wyoming Game and Fish page say, "Nonresident big and trophy game hunters are required to obtain a professional outfitter or resident guide while hunting in any federally designated wilderness area." What am I missing here that allowed you to hunt alone?

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  7 лет назад

      "Federally Designated Wilderness Area" is the key word. That does not mean all public lands. It means those lands designated as official Wilderness Areas under the Wilderness Act.
      All other public lands, which are the majority of Federal lands in Wyoming, are open to self-guided hunting.

      I am sure you know it. West of town. We don't give exact unit numbers, as that causes changes in draw odds (not like the odds are great in those units to start with) and we don't want to mess it up out of respect for other hunters who apply/hunt there. I hope you understand. Good luck this season.

      Randy Newberg, Hunter I completely understand that ! I was successful this year with antelope and harvested a great antelope . I have a 200 inch general deer on public land im going to hopefully re find and harvest this weekend . I'm appreciate and value your advice and point of view . I wish you great success on your up coming hunts ! Have you ever done a video on caring for mounts ? Just a thought .

      Out of respect for other applicants/hunters who apply/hunt in units we film in, we don't provide unit information. Hope that makes sense.

    A Pronghorn is not a species of Antelope! Antelope do not live in North America! A Pronghorn 's closest relative is a Giraffe!

    Great video I'm hoping to kill my first pronghorn this year. I killed my first elk at 270 yards last year and I'm hoping to kill my first mule deer buck. What caliber of rifle do you hunt with? Thanks and congrats!

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  8 лет назад

      Thanks. That rifle was a 7mm-.08. I shot pronghorn with all kinds of calibers, from a .243, .257 Wby, .270Win, .308 Win, .30-06. Good luck.
