  • Transforming an ordinary room into a fabulous home cinema, with a coffered ceiling, Fibre optic lighting, LED strips, Motorised ceiling recessed screen and a Sony Home theater projector. we designed everything in advance and all components were cut off site to enable our company to install quickly and efficiently for our client. FAQs BELOW!
    FAQs:
    Q: What does a project like this cost minus the av equipment?
    A: In this case I think the room transformation was somewhere around £14K including chasing cables into the walls and supply of all lighting and supply of the projection screen. Also that included electrical work, and commissioning everything, but that figure does not include the cost of the projector , player devices , AV Receiver, speakers etc which are all extra and will vary hugely in price depending what level of performance the customer wants, (probably anything from about £6K upwards for a basic 1080P kit and the sky is the limit. We have had cinema room projects where the total can add up to around £50K, but we do some smaller projects where we can supply and install a complete system (without any room re modeling or lighting) from around £6K.
    Q: What is the ceiling made out of?
    A: They are Infinity Star ceiling panels from Starscape star ceilings. I think they are made of some kind of composite foam board , coated with a black velvet like material. and of course they are supplied with the fiber optic stars already installed.

    You guys did a wonderful job turning that room into a dedicated theatre. Regardless of what the customer ordered you seem to have found elegant ways to neatly construct a proper ceiling that hides all the cables, lighting and speakers etc. Very clean, job well done.

    Lovely job but you'd never have white walls or a white ceiling near the screen in a cinema. reflected light from the screen reduces contrast considerably during bright scenes - from experience.

    why not pain the walls dark?

    • @Ukhomecinemas
      @Ukhomecinemas  7 лет назад +42

      It is just customer choice, Having the walls a light colour does impact upon the black levels, (due to light reflecting back onto the screen), but not everybody wants to be a purist about these things. The room will also have occasional use for other activities. We advise the customer of the pros and cons and the customer can weigh up their priorities, then we do it the way the customer wants it.

    • @narudh
      @narudh 7 лет назад +1

      In general is it THAT much of an effect? I'm also building one and I prefer my walls in lighter colors

    • @Ukhomecinemas
      @Ukhomecinemas  7 лет назад +1

      If you measured the effect on contrast using very sensitive measuring equipment, it might show a significant difference to the contrast figures, but in the real world its a very small difference to the way the pictures actually look.

    • @Ukhomecinemas
      @Ukhomecinemas  7 лет назад +5

    You probably don't answer questions on your installs now. But wondering how you attach the noggins to the first top 2x4's on the ceilings? I'd be worried even with screws that all the weight is pulling down and there doesnt seem to be any mechanical flitch plates or similar to hold it. Also isn't there a worry that all those joints in mdf will crack?
