    Not sure why some people are saying they wouldn’t sell these. I absolutely would sell them. There is as much work cutting out the foam as there is with any other material, and the end result is stunning

    Target has been selling rounds for a while now. Besides the difference in price, there’s also quality. Home Depot’s rounds are better quality than targets. I can sell my rounds from Home Depot for more money than I can from the ones at target. But I guess it’s all about preference. 😊

    AWESOME way to have the wood-look without an expensive & tedious scroll saw. 2 tips: I would use transfer tape to move the words (have to be with little tackiness) Second tip: tape your ruler down with painters tape so your words/letters are nice and straight. Please keep the out-of-the-box ideas coming. This is brilliant! Thanks 🙏

    I am definitely going to get some foam and try this!! But I get my wood rounds from Menards…. 12” is $5.79 and 15” is $8.98 How well do you think the foam would hold up outside?

    • @Cricuter
      @Cricuter  11 месяцев назад +3

      I don't have one of those stores near me but I'm sure your comment will be helpful to others who do! I've never put one outside but I feel like with the modge podge over it it would be pretty waterproof. You would have to stain the wood too to waterproof it.

But when I cut, im going to use black foam (the front is orange) I believe this will make an even more pronounced 3D effect. Looks awesome in design space, now on to cutting. Just a thought thanks to your video. THANKS!🙏

    • @Cricuter

      I'm curious how the cuts would come out with the knife blade. You could also try cutting deeper with a custom setting. I think this technique could be perfected with a little more practice. These are really cute to make for yourself but to sell? I’m just not sure. How would you advertise this as it not being real wood and made from foam? While it looks like real wood I’m just not sure customers would like to buy something that looks like wood but is really foam. ..(and I’m not trying to be rude or argumentative I’m honestly asking this to you or for anyone else’s opinions out there.)

      It looks fantastic and just as real as wood. Just advertise as wood and foam signs. Or just call them “signs”. I don’t mind if a wood sign is vinyl or painted. I don’t think customers would mind as they aren’t going to walk up to it on their wall and feel it. If they do, spray the foam with some sort of an acrylic spray to harden it up. It’s all about appearance. Plus I would guess that the price would be a lot cheaper than using real wood. Which is always a bonus in my opinion! ❤

    I have not tried foam before, but I think I would put transfer tape or contact paper, on the letters before taking it off the mat. It wo.
    uld probably make it easier to transfer onto the wood, without having to place each letter. Just a thought. Not sure how it would work

    • @Cricuter
      @Cricuter  11 месяцев назад

      It's worth a try. I didn't get a clean cut all the way through the foam so I kind of had to lift it up and pull it apart with my fingers. It wasn't easy to weed like vinyl. So the pieces didn't stay in place to be able to use transfer tape with. I'm sure after doing it a few times and playing around with the cut settings you could do what you're suggesting

    Just wondering why you didn’t use a transfer paper or tape to lift the letters? I think it would be easy to apply the glue and the put it on the wood? Loved your ideas, they looked so nice!

      I've never worked with craft foam before so I wasn't really sure what I was doing lol I'll try transfer tape next time. I didn't think it would stick at the time

    How about getting that mockup copy back to your computer. We all know that Cricut does not allow you to save to our computers. Hope they will soon change this to be an option.

    This is what I’ve been looking for! I, too, hate to paint but I’ve been longing to make wood signs for my in laws. I have 2 wood signs I bought at Target last year. They are actually charcuterie boards with a handle jute string so they are ready to hang. They even already have a dark finish. The timing is perfect. I’ve been looking at cutting foam and my deep point blade is arriving today and my purple mats tomorrow! Looks like I have Christmas presents all set! New subbie here!

    Can I use a knife blade or does it have to be deep point?

      A knife blade would probably work better

    Can these be hung outside?

    • @Cricuter
      @Cricuter  11 месяцев назад

      I've never tried but you would have to seal/stain the wood first. I think the foam would hold up outside, especially after being painted with mod podge

  • @novalolmanzero3
    @novalolmanzero3 11 месяцев назад

    Why do you add the modpodge ?

    • @Cricuter
      @Cricuter  11 месяцев назад

      It gives the foam a hard, shiny painted look. It makes it look less like foam and more like wood

    I saw your video on my feed and it blew me away. I get so discouraged when I see my RUclips subs making things from a laser cuz they got it for free. I hate the way it makes me feel that I have to have one but I understand its part of the game. This was awesome and I'm gonna have to check out the rest of ur videos. Thank you this was amazing!

      Cricut crafting is like a gateway drug into sublimation, laser engraving, painting, etc. I always feel the pressure to learn and make all the things too. But one thing at a time, one day at a time! This hack isn't as good as a laser engraver but it allows you to make 3d projects without all that extra money and stuff. Just try to have fun with it 🥰

    Hate the weird background noise while you are on the computer.

      Thank you. I hate it too and I have a new mic on the way to fix it. When I turn on my screen recorder it picks up the sound of my computer fans running. Drives me nuts! I'm sorry.
