- El área de infraestructuras del Grupo FCC, ha construido el nuevo estadio del At Madrid. Wanda Metropolitano. Con una capacidad para albergar 68.000 aficionados, el estadio se ha convertido en una instalación deportiva referente en Europa. Premiada como Mejor Obra Publica 2017, albergará la final de la Champions en 2019.

The reason why the stadium took so long to build was becasue originally, that was going to be Madrid's olympic stadium. But Madrid wasn't selected for 2016 olymplics, so Atletico de Madrid bought the land and built its new stadium there.

It wasnt really abandoned, it had a football field and a running field but it was dismantled shortly before the construction started

The first section of the stadium was built 16 years ago and stood all by itself. The local residents are just thrilled to death to have that stadium in their neighborhood.
Why was it built that long ago? Was it their plan to make it a stadium for Atletico? Or did the club just choose the location because one section was already built?
