Jimmy Page is THE only guitar player to truly make me go back in time to when I was in my early teens, roaming the streets at night, first girlfriend, naive… friends, friends that turned to enemies, only responsibility was school, being in a band, the lights at night, finding somewhere nice to sit and roll a cigarette, feeling like I had the world at my feet.
First 2 albums were basically cover versions of other people's songs. 2 full albums. Copied or stole most of there songs . It's on RUclips if you don't know already

It was mostly plant doing the stealing. It is bad and they are lucky to have survived. In today's world, they would be burnt. But, they did well overall. And Jimmy IS great.
I remember the first time I heard this, listening to TSRTS on spotify, then Dazed and Confused came along, a song I love, and outta nowhere comes this haunting, dark, melodic, sad and misterious riff that simply caught me off guard and made me trip balls listening to this and gave me that feeling when you listen to a special song that moves you for the first time. I remember seeing the film when I was 15, so that would have been 1982.....it would be screened on occasion here in the UK. This bit was mesmerising and as soon as it was released on VHS video,I pretty much wore it out!!! Taught me how important the spirit of improvisation really is. Led Zeppelin are the only Band to have really carried it off.
this is a evolution that I heard when I listened to a collection of bootlegs from this time. yes there is other versions of this and I heard him dig even deeper during certain parts.
Van Halen were about 10 years too late in being able to play music this Psychedelic! Then again Jimmy Page pretty much opened and closed the book on music like this (just by bringing out the bow)! I mean how creative can you get? Not to mention how dark of a background he really had!!
@@marshall8408 I would say that the guitar, in Jimmy's hands, was not a musical instrument, it was a translator of emotions. What he felt, what he wanted to convey to people... Jimmy had a very special relationship with the guitar. He said “is my wife, my lover“ (referring to the guitar) I think this is wonderful!

Just love the way he can take a 6:00 song and turn it into a 28:00 one Live! Not to mention the creativity of the "Song Remains the Same" movie with all its glory from climbing the mountain on the inside of LED ZEP IV to his red eyes when he first appears in the movie!!
@@marshall8408 It seems he produced Zeppelin's first album with his own money...his sensitivity in knowing how to position the microphones to fully capture the grandeur of the sounds (especially the drums), he wasn't "just" a guitarist, he was an architect of music, a true genius! And I love him even more because he chose Plant, JPJ and Bonham and formed the best band in the universe!

Vocals are from the 27th over the music from the 29th. 01:06 onwards they keep the vocals from the 27th and use the music from the 27th as it was played that night. Beautiful edit but it's not how it was played that night. I actually like the San Francisco intro they played on the 27th. Don't know why they didnt keep it. This is not the original version on the early pressing of T.S.R.T.S. Why did they change the soundtrack from the original? I had the album when it first came out, and I know the version of T.S.R.T.S. has little differences throughout. Anyone have any ideas why?

I think that they only played this live. They would improvise and expand on a lot of their songs in concert. In the extremely long live performances of Dazed and Confused they would sometimes insert "San Francisco", "Woodstock" or some other song in the middle of it. I think that this is edited from one of those performances.
