Hi kirby. Glad your doing some good in a trade full of cowboys charging top doller. I made the jump after I last talked with you. 18 years at a main dealer now mobile 4 days and do 2 days at a local garage doing mots for them. Loving life!! Cheers for the motivation dude
Mate congratulations, love to hear this sort of thing, glad you made the jump, you won’t look back, it can be hard but remember to have time to yourself and try your best to not let the sh*t days get you down is just some advice 👍🏼
@@kerbsidemobilemechanic top advise mate. Been doing it for 6 months and just about getting the hang of it. Defo needs to have perks as went hard at the start and burnt myself out now I just tick over nicely and life is good. Who knows maybe I'll start documenting it soon but at the minute just enjoying the job again after years of hating working on cars because of the poisonous environment. Keep the videos coming it's the highlight of my RUclips week
As someone who's been scammed by a dodgy mobile mechanic in the past, I'm glad to see that there are people out there like you doing great work, if you were in my area, I'd bless you with discs and pads all around on my Celica. 🙏
A trick Ave found with that style of bleed nipple is to pull the pipe back and just leave it open for half an hour and they bleed themselfs once you’ve got a steady stream of fluid shut it and the pedal usually good
I stopped trusting garages years ago as all i found was they would litterally over charge for simple jobs and then claim other work needed doing when they didn't. Luckily ive never been failed by mobile mechanics but its thanks to people like yourself showing how simple 90% of jobs are that i have been able to do them myself. Hope you and Mrs Kerby get to have a great rest of week and an awesome weekend resting
Ahh, top marks Kerby, blimey what a job, you have a good approach tho with your way of working, really enjoyed the vid, anyway, Happy Birthday and raise a glass, Cheers!!
Did I not explain the situation well enough? The clutch pedal went to the floor leaving her broken down, she then got towed on a rope and thats When she held the brake down, that cooked the brakes, brakes were absolutely fine before being towed 👍🏼
Well done mate I don't trust some of the garages their is the odd decent one it's a pain whe you had to buy a kit to bleed the clutch but it should come in again has you will do one of those Nissan again plus other Nissan etc love the video and Happy With day to you kerby Hope you had a good one mate Phil in stoke😂😂😂😂
Bitter sweet for your customer having to pay for another clutch, but at least they get it done properly this time. I was thinking about getting a set of those master cylinder adapters, but it's occurred to me my cooling system pressure bleeder kit came with a load of different sized adapters, each with a schrader valve. If I can find one to fit the master cylinder, is there any reason why I couldn't use these, instead of forking out for the adapter kit? Cheers mate
Personally I’d prefer a kit separate for each system to avoid even the smallest contamination and I don’t think you’d find the correct thread/screw type tbh 🤷🏻♂️
Happy belated birthday. Its always the same just out of warranty. They've most like give a high price due not wanting to redo it. A question if you dont mind how do you remove caliper bracket slider thats seized in. Have tried heated it which has helped it now to spin and move but just wont remove from the bracket. David
Happy Birthday 🎉 great work as always man 👍 might be a daft question, recently added an impact driver to my tool box, used it a few times now on Philips brake disc screws, but when working on a mk5 golf I didn't have a torx bit thick enough to fit in the driver... got it out anyway but can't seem to find a set of bits to expand my options with the driver... any ideas? Thanks
@kerbsidemobilemechanic got a set like that... but they don't fit... just had a look now and it's 8mm diameter hex bits I need... those are 10mm... but i have now discovered the hex adaptor on the impact driver can be swapped... so the 10mm bits I have already can be used with the 10mm adaptor in the box with them 🤦♂️🤣 at least I haven't had to buy any other parts to find this out 🤣 cheers! 🍻👍
All the problems on that car stem from driver misuse. Cooked their clutch and melted the slave, overused the brakes and melted the caliper dust covers, they’l be back in a year for another clutch 🙈

Pressure plate bolts around 25 Nm no need for the impact gun to run them down.

Yes definitely. I came up late. Had to work. Jobs over from the previous day..

Last week got a quote of £1250 for a new clutch, the another for £815. Found that the £1250 was a rip off, I'm glad didn't got with that.
Sometimes the more expensive option isn’t always the rip off though I just admit
@@kerbsidemobilemechanic guess so, although not all places are honest.
Can’t be a tricky one knowing who to trust but reviews are normally a good indication

I suspect it’ll be because of the rubber sleeve/boot at the end of the pin, can be very stiff once swollen, I use a punch and hammer usually 👍🏼
