I can remember hunting my original vita down at various walmarts, at the very end of the console's life. I was so excited to walk out with it actually in my hands.
The original systems were so hard to find especially in their early life cycle. Kicking myself a bit now for only getting into physical collecting until recently, but better late than never I suppose 😅
2 or 3 years ago I was visiting West Point and went to the store in West Point it was kind of like a mini Walmart of sorts and sold a bit of everything on a smaller scale from Bikes to dog food. They also had a small gaming section I was surprised to see a PlayStation Vita and a 3DS and bought both and kept them sealed in the box’s. Crazy where you some times can find games. Never would of expected that to happen at West Point.
Hi Emily. I just had to watch your 1st ever video especially when your 1st video was on my 45th birthday. You are very informative & really knowledgeable. Only difference now is that you have figurines & video game collection in the background. I love your PS Vita Oled & Slim model. Very nice. You said your credit card doesn't charge for foreign transactions. Ok cool to know that actually. 2022. Yeah that was a year that had a lot of ups & downs for me. I finally landed a job in construction. I thought man this would be my career. Pay was really high thought ok I was going to do this for many years. Then after 1 week they fired me. I was sad, depressed, then this is when I decided to work at Amazon that same year in 2022. As you know it's 2024 & been working there ever since. Hopefully that continues. It's very awesome to watch your 1st vid & to see you grow & have these cool ideas like the charts video game recommendations etc. I hope you see whatever vid you put out in the future.
So excited for you! The original model of the VITA is my favorite model! I need to start collecting games for it, the prices are starting to go up. Thanks for your time!
I plan on getting a ps vita from japan as well. Trying to look for a like new or new conditioned one. Your video helped me out on how to order one. Thanks!
This video is very informative for those that are new to the PS Vita scene. I never knew I could use a proxy service to buy from Japanese websites! Thank you. I'm also surprised you started your channel yesterday! I like the banner you chose for your channel.
Thank you, I'm glad you found this video informative! Importing from Japan is a total gamechanger for collecting. I hope you'll find some great deals on there too! And yes! I was toying around with this channel for awhile and finally found a good excuse to start :)
@@orbalology I just saw that there's a new video and I also found out you have a twitter! You should link that on your channel if you know how. There's so much you have to show on your RUclips based on what I've seen on your Twitter! I hope you showcase it here. Are you going to do a video on what games you've played and currently playing on the Vita? You mentioned wanting to collect physical Vita games, you can do that with a PS Vita 1000. The specific Vita model would be 110X (X being any number) and the reason would be is because you can buy a PSVSD adapter which would be attached on the motherboard so the cartridge slot can be free to use for physical games while also having a micro SD card for the rest of your digital games.
Hi! Yes I will eventually try to cover a lot more on this channel, including talking more about what games I've played and/or currently playing. I was thinking of maybe doing some sort of monthly wrap videos - but I haven't quite decided how to go about it yet 😅 I'm just taking things slowly, keeping it casual, but I have a lot of things I plan to share in upcoming videos! Hiyah, thanks for the video. Getting a vita from Japan is awesome, I'm kind of surprised that any are still in circulation over there, with handheld being so popular.

So I think for the UK the biggest thing you have to watch out for custom charges. Not sure how bad they are nowadays but I've heard some horror stories. Otherwise package weight & size is another factor you have to be careful about. Sometimes if you're importing a lot of items or misjudge how large something is the shipping can be a nasty surprise 😅 I'm not sure if this is the case for all countries but I've heard that Amazon Japan calculates the custom charges at checkout so that there are not any surprises (but not sure if this is true, the US thankfully has very generous custom limits before they incur fees). And yes! For the Japanese Vita models the system will have the 'forward' and 'back' command buttons swapped around. This won't affect western games when you're playing, just when you're navigating the main menu, etc. Though if you're planning to play Japanese games the button inversion will be hardwired in those games, no matter which Vita model you have.
@@orbalology Thank you so much! I'm going to have to look into custom charges for sure but great tip about Amazon! Definitely something for me to check out and research.
