Back when games made me feel something other than boredom and frustration. Just finished a playthrough of the first 4 ACs. Beautiful series, such a shame what it became.
Played the first 3. Bought Revelations bc it was on sale last week. Was pleasantly surprised how much it held my attention. Compare that with a few hours of Unity, got bored, didn't care about the characters, didn't know what the story was really or why things were happening.
Another artefact? No. You will stay here. I have seen enough for one life. Desmond? I heard you’re name once before, Desmond, a long time ago. And now it lingers in my mind like an image from an old dream. I do not know where you are, or by what means you can hear me. But I know you are listening. I have lived my life as best I could, not knowing it’s purpose, but drawn forward like a moth to a distant moon. And here, at last, I discover a strange truth. That I am only a conduit for a message that eludes my understanding. Who are we, who have been so blessed to share our stories like this? To speak across centuries? Maybe you will answer all the questions I have asked. Maybe you will be the one to make all this suffering worth something in the end. Now… listen…
Playing this for the first time was very emotional for me. While I didn't realize it at the time, this was the end of the true story for Ezio and the era of Assassin's Creed. I truly do miss those days when I experienced these games for the first time.
I still remember how awed I was as a 15 year old playing this ending. I loved Ezio. And had been playing as him since I was like 12. Plus in those three games they really made you feel like you’ve lived his whole life with him. From those first moments controlling Baby Ezio up until his retirement here. Actually was super sad to be leaving him behind. But glad he gets a happy ending basically. He deserved it. AC needs to do this again. I want to feel like I’m playing through different times in my characters life like that, from novice to master over a period of years. And they haven’t really done that since. AC3 was decent, starting out as Connor when he’s a child and beginning free roam gameplay at 15.. but it’s not long enough. We don’t really see him mature into a veteran. I don’t think he’s even 30 in the end. None of the other protagonists really get into middle age while we play. I miss being 50 year old Ezio haha. Still leaping around like a kid.
10:47 i realize now that the part where Minervas statue falls is what happens in AC3 when Desomnd doesnt listen to her but Juno instead, and he touches that sphere
This really sent chills, almost heart wrenching to know that someone fought in a war that wouldn't end. And interestingly, Altiar saids "an end to an era", a mission saids "an end to an era". Its quite surprising to see a grand journey of a character. To bad we won't get that and lose track of the story in most modern games because we had to spend over 20 hours to grind to get a better strength weapon, then lower the difficulty to make combat worth a damn, then an entire company, pissing off an entire nation.
This is the series finale. You could argue AC3 is, but... that's when the franchise started getting weird. I don't know. It lost its esoteric feel after Revelations, something you especially felt for example playing as Desmond in the Auditore Villa ruins at night in AC Brotherhood.
Let's be honest this ending has been the best in AC history
Indeed

By saying first 4 you mean 1 and the ezio collection or 1,2,3 and black flag?
Probably should have stopped at 3
