I have never heard anyone explain so perfectly as I completely relate to what she talks about in terms of having a childhood where you were focused on bigger things first. It was an a-ha moment in my life when I grasped this. There are pros and cons to childhood-origin coping/adapting. I think EQ comes from that. Eventually, we all grow from our abilities to grasp the realities of our lives and its lessons.
She's the definition of life goals. This is so wise and deep that i feel like i'd have to listen to it multiple times to fully absorb everything she said! Amazing women💜

Wow! so grateful to have found this and listened to it. I have replayed some of the sections. I think the very last piece about men was exactly where we need to focus some attention in our society over the coming years. Loved her comment about wishing she had a son but she related to the issue without that. I have long felt this to be important for our sons and the impact of Title IX was as she said positive for women but negatively impacted men. Many young men that would have had entry into non mainstream college sports couldn't due to this and that made an imbalance of opportunities
How encouraging to everyone and mothers too.. Her mentioning her example of "okay so you messed up on your diet to get back up and go at it again"👍 very true for people.

i read Gabby Reece's book. I loved it a ton! She is quite open, in the book and kudos to Laird for having allowed her candour IN her book. I mean, I'm not sure I would have been as accommodating to my Signif. other and allowed him, or her, to be so candid.

First of all, beautiful interview showing Gabby Reece her genuinely self and beliefs. What I struggle with is the belief that men and women are psychologically different. My belief is that we are all different regardless of the gender. I see so many different version of men and women and I genuinely can't see what character trait could be just attributed to one gender. Culturally, I get it. We are all born in an environment that has a cultural heritage influenced by powerstructures of the past and still the present, that advocate how women or men should be, act and believe. But that always means for anyone who tries to live up or down to that, the individual has to leave a part of them at the door. Which is contrary to any podcast I have been watching until now. Everyone agrees that you should find your true self first and live "yourself" at the fullest. In my heart I would really like to see human kind evolve from this bad habit of categorising human beings and linking character traits to each category as it were decided so by a higher force. In that sense, I think your book, the Mask of Masculinity, is a step in the right direction of leaving the cultural straight jacket that has been imposed on men for so long. I dream of a future when where, when we meet people, we can skip any stereotype thinking all together and genuinely are interested in getting to know the human inside of what meets the eye.
