Both my grandparents imigrated to America from Ireland before my Father was born. They both passed before my Father was 18. What a wise smart peaceful man was my father. I miss him so. Ive never been able to visit but I made sure my father got to go before he passed on. My mother always said there was no better man than an Irishman. She was so right. My father never had an enemy , he made peace everywhere he went. Shook hands with the cops and the mafia and they all loved him. Such a righteous man, I don't think anyone realized how much he prayed for all of us.
Thanks for the reminder. Be blessed Ireland! In the name of Jesus Christ amen.

I keep coming back to this poem. I'm an immigrant, but I've been here a few years now and listening fills me with a real, powerful love of my adopted nation. This resonates so much; this is my Ireland too.

Beautiful. I write poetry. I appreciate this poet's God given talent. I also am an American of Irish descent. I spent nine months living on your western shores in county Mayo. It was a bitter sweet time. I love Ireland but she left me sad and homesick. But I miss her and love her still. May God bless Ireland and God bless my America. May God bless all the good people of this world. Times are tough but we are a faithful and resilient people. May God's love rise up and over me, over me, over me...and over you! Write more. It's wonderful!

For 24 years I have been carrying Ireland in my heart, when I first heard of St Patric's legend. This summer, my road led me to visit Ireland as a hiker. And there I felt as I I were at home: beautiful peaceful people, beautiful nature, but some shadows of the past still very painful and present... Marvelous poem and very powerful messages, Steven. Keep up the good job. Beannacht Dé ort, mo cara. Your Ireland has become our. Go raíbh maíth
agat. Hope to see you someday during the Belgrade's Irish festival.

Orla Kerley very true isn’t it, branded clothing is too expensive but is sold cheap in the USA...hence why you see most people there wearing branded clothes. Like authentic van shoes, most of Ireland you see people wearing the penny’s version lol

What a wonderful piece of art. So powerful. The words, the background music, the shapes! oh dear! I'm not Irish, but somehow, even with this accent, even with all these insinuations, these words spoke to us all, as humans. That what it makes it unique.
I remember having the same feeling when Stephen James Smith performed the epic "Dublin You Are" in the busy Whelan's last Christmas eve. His words are so strong, he got the full attention, you know, that sudden silence in a place full of people, which lead all of them to a special place, far away from where they were, deep in their soul. It was absolutely stunning, the standing ovation said it all, and hopefully I captured this moment (ruclips.net/video/x0lOAGF_6_s/видео.html).

    The Promise Land
Some died for The Promise Land.
Others cried for The Promise Land.
Many have toiled in The Promise Land,
While palms were oiled in The Promise Land.
Our children leave The Promise Land,
As parents grieve in The Promise Land.
Each year we cheer The Promise Land,
With spirits and beer in The Promise Land,
While we take from the weak in The Promise Land,
To give to the strong in The Promise Land.
All is well in The Promise Land,
If on the right side in The Promise Land.
As the ‘Lockout’ is celebrated in The Promise Land,
Would Larkin have berated us in The Promise Land?
And more promises are made in The Promise Land,
Only for them to fade in The Promise Land.

You know, 10% of you could be Neanderthal, as well......does that make you Neanderthal? You are not Irish if you weren't born here, if you haven't lived here, if you don't live here now. You are of Irish descent and you drink an ungodly amount of alcohol on "St. Patty's (cringe, cringe, cringe) Day" and wear green and try to entice girls to kiss your gobshite mouth because you have a t-shirt on that says they should, but you're not Irish. Don't ever purport to be. Don't ever hope to be.
