- The Dublin You Are project came about in a collaborative manner between a number of Dublin-based artists, Dublin2020 and the people of Dublin. The video is based around the words of poet Stephen James Smith, which capture the good and the bad of Dublin, the successes and the failures, the community and the divide - in essence, it reflects much of the ideas that came from the conversations and workshops Dublin2020 had with people all over Dublin over the past year. The team has created a visual representation of what Dublin is today, a fair portrayal of city’s grim and glory, where the visuals complement the written narrative.

About Dublin2020:
Dublin is in competition to become European Capital of Culture in 2020. Dublin2020 is Dublin’s campaign to make sure our city wins. If we win, we have a chance to make real change for our city and its people. We can’t do this alone, to make sure Dublin moves forward to the next round in the competition, we need to spread the word, get involved and join in the conversation. If you are part of Dublin you are part of Dublin2020.

As a culchie not a dub, this is a great stroke that paints a portrait of our beautiful capital! Thank you 👍
Love it. Our great city welcomes all who come in peace.
On days that Dublin city life is kicking my ass and the rain is heavy- I just need to watch this video. I'm proud of Dublin and proud to be Irish. Thank you to all involved for this!

Stephen. Thank you so much for what you did to honour the memory of my departed friend Conor.. I'm not sure you'll ever know how much it means to me, your fellow Dub.
Still on a high from vicar street. Stephen you were phenomenal. Blown away, everyone was. Many many thanks Xxx
+Marilyn Borza thanks!
Left home for Texas, USA almost 2 years ago, there's not a day goes by I don't miss Ireland, absolutely brilliant poem, watched it a few times now
Dublin You Are....... just bleedin savage!! Well done to all involved.
+Cormac Ó Donnchú Thanks Cormac, we're very proud!
Seen Stephen read this on NYE and it's the outstanding memory of a great night. Had the pleasure of seeing Glen Hansard last night in the London Palladium and then Stephen being invited on stage, probably one of the most powerful performances I've seen. Stephen rhyming as glen played guitar in the background, couldn't be much more Irish. Brought a tear to the eye, loving London but missing Dublin. I get shivers listening to this, what an epic poem. Keep up the amazing work, a talent that encapsulates being Irish (to me at the very least). Feeling humbled.
+Carl O'Reilly thanks so much Carl, happy to hear you were moved by it!
That night at palladium was amazing
Actually, it is so much more than a wonderful poem but I am still crying over it. Thanks.
Excellent !!!
EPIC - Well done SJS - you said it all and pulled at every emotion
Just perfect.
What a great poem & film which really captures the essence of Dublin - the good & bad and ups & downs of the city as Dublin are - and with a warm, cozy Dublin accent! And thanks for including us Danes (vikings) ... we still feel attracted to your fair city!
+Claus Hebor Thanks Claus, that's exactly what we're trying to highlight, Dublin is great, but we need to improve, that's why we're running for European Capital of Culture - so we can solve some of the issues!
+Alice Rabbit let me guess , you're from Cork ! Only joking fine people of Cork. Again a joke. Kinda like Alice here. Laughable.
+Colum Cunningham Not really a funny joke or a joke that makes any sense but sure if it made you laugh than there's no farm done.
+Alice Rabbit Ahh shut up. As a people that were discriminated against for years we should be right and show open arms to anyone who wants to live here
Just simply Dublin........Beautiful
Great piece of work, Stephen. 'Dublin can I trust you?' Indeed!
+Sarah Webb Trust is an issue that came up again and again in our conversations with Dubliners - we can trust Stephen to deliver a great poem anyways ;D

Wondering why Jedward are described as 'awkward'? They were good enough for Dublin when they twice represented the country at the Eurovision (best result both times in over a decade...), they were also good enough for Dublin when they brought in all the tourists - from all over the world mind - who would stay in Dublin for the better part of two weeks every year when they did panto at the Olympia, not to mention when the twins performed concerts there. Ask the fast food shops etc in Dame Street how they've been doing at Christmas the past 2 years ;)
Dublin...The home of Tayto crisps.
That'd be Meath actually😄
+timeofyourlifehuhkid Well there beside each other so close enough :)

I guess Jedward were't so awkward that you refused the money people have spent over the years visiting Dublin to see them, including myself and my family.
Are you seriously angered by the fact this piece contains the line 'jedward...awkward'?
+Chris McLaughlin of course I'm not angered.. Just a little confused as to what is meant by it..
+Juliet Jedward Barrable It means they're embarrassing.
+Neil McGuinness I understand what it means literally, but it seems you didn't find it embarrasing to except money from the vast numbers of people who regularly visited Dublin from all over Europe, and even further to see them. I myself have spent thousands over the years in your fair city, on Hotels, restaurants, taxis etc.
It's a shame that something positive has been turned into something negative. You have a lovely city, you should embrace every aspect of it..
+Juliet Jedward Barrable You seem to be equating the city of Dublin with an individual with a singular identity who indeed was happy to take your money while you were attending Jedward concerts. The city of Dublin is in fact made up of many individuals with many varied tastes and interests. Only a few of these individuals would've benefited from your commerce during stays in the fine city in support of your favourite set of twins. I understand your sensitivity regarding perceived criticism of your idols, but really it's ok that not everyone likes them because you do and that's all that matters 💜💜
GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!!
Now, take a moment, and ask yourself, was that necessary?
