The window weights are used by killers to hold the body down in the water until they ate eaten away by crabs etc. The bones that are left behind are not magnetic. You will need a different set of recovery tools for the bones.
The pulleys were from windows that used weights inside the casing to counterbalance the weight of the sashes. There were 2 per window sash, one for each side. The bigger the wooden sash, the heavier the weights needed to be. The weights usually were cast iron with a number cast into each one indicating the weight in pounds. The railroad "grenades" don't look like any of the devices I have seen which were a red square of wax-coated paper with a lead strip coming out of each side so the torpedo could be fastened to the top of the rail.
In western NY, Buffalo and Niagara Falls, most original windows are in place and you can find these still in use. Even Home Depot and Lowe’s still sell parts for them.
That was so good Jeff😁!!! I love seeing your perspective of that epic video, you cover the action and find some incredible relics!!!!!! I'm not sure what Clayton called that little star, bit I've never seen anything like it😲 never even knew they exist, so much cool stuff!!!! and Officer Johnson is AWESOME!!!!!! and the other gentleman too, thanks to him and good people like him, you got your gopro back. @@marthamitchell9452 cool! Thanks for telling us that. I’ve got a literal ton of cast iron, mostly skillets and Dutch ovens. I’ve restored a great many pieces. The oldest piece I have is circa 1880 spider skillet. It’s huge.
At about 9:00 minutes you ask about those pulleys. They are pulleys and are from the old sash weight windows. Boy, have I seen my share of them. At the turn of the century, wooden windows were installed with pockets on each side of the window. Special sash rope( very strong rope) was used with lead weights attached to them. Those pulleys allowed the rope to go through the window jams and it helped with the window being raised and lowered. It also helped in keeping the window raised.
I am feeling quite conflicted about the ring, actually… Anything you fish out of the river, fine….but a ring just lying on the ground at that value as a German I would feel it my civic duty to bring it to lost and found… Even though I am poor myself!
Pay them higher wages, and give them better training, not just police training but also university ie, get them to study in social work, so they can interact with society better, and weed out the assholes who are after a power trip
@ 8:47 those are sash pulleys. On ancient windows the rope attached to the sash and goes up through those pulleys, one on each side, into the frame and are attached to the window weights you sometimes find. The weights counter balance the sash so when you raise the window it stays up.
Those glass jars are witches curse jars. Glad you broke it. You're the 3rd mag fisher that I've seen find one of these jars in the last couple of months. My daughter said she learned about them on tiktok.
@@outdoorinfluencer that’s a bummer. I’ve been trying to get Lee and Nikki to do a drive across then states, he’s Bondi Treasure Hunting. I think it would be cool to have a few meet ups across country. It would be fun…. If y’all got close enough I would drive to meet ya. Just can’t go far. Too old lol. @@outdoorinfluencer sorry I was driving when I had it playing and I tried to see what you were doing in on but I didn't hear it and then the video ended. My bad.
Railroads referred to your finds as "torpedoes". They would've been attached to the rails with a brass strip and placed behind a stopped train. When a following train would run over the torpedoes, the engine crew would know there was a stopped train ahead so they could come to a safe stop themselves. They haven't been used since signaling systems and dispatchers now control trian movements. And I'm pretty sure the pier you're magnet fishing from is an old train trestle...
It's actually a shaker grate for a wood or coal stove. There may be 2 or 3 of them that the coal burns on and a handle you work up n down or side to side to shake the grates to dump the ashes to the bottom.

Love the banter with the fisherman. He was very funny and laid back. Glad you get along with the local people.
We need more friendly cops like him. He had a great attitude and laughed with you. Other cops are rude to people like you.

They are caltrops. They are also known as tumbling stars and are used to clean up cast iron pieces. They are run in a tumbler.

Those railroad spikes go for .99 to $1.50 on EBay. Clean them up and make some money.
Not impressed with the first officer.Do you guys mind hanging out and keeping people away !!! Wow .
Everyone let's make a big big bear hug....ok,...
Cool
Wtf is a railroad detonator?
that door and the grill thing are part of a wood stove
You guys are in Minnesota?? I want to magnet fish off 7th Ave bridge!! Anoka. People thinks I'm crazy.
We are not from there but should we got there ?
See, why can't everybody just banter like that. These are normal level headed folks
Should have messaged The Fisher. He fishes there all the time.
lol he was like a block away that day. He won’t film with us
hi the wird ting is a polley from old window frame in the 40 or 50 i know i had a window faling on my finger wen a wase 10 or 12 i remember
Most of their railroad detonators that I've seen has a little metal strip that bends down over the rails
So how much was that ring worth?
I said it in the video lol
@@outdoorinfluencer sorry I was driving when I had it playing and I tried to see what you were doing in on but I didn't hear it and then the video ended. My bad.
Jen found the ring online and have definitely a couple different prices

It's a window bully the metal weight pulls down the window and up the window

Those pieces you think are pullies are in fact wheels for a sliding door.
My grandpa and uncle worked on the railroad
How can you find a gold ring with a magnet?
We found it on the ground.
Did I miss that ? That you found the ring on the ground ? I know I missed the price of it! 😿
#9 minutes pullies small for a window or hind door in wall
Thanks for letting us know
Not a railroad detonator….. they were a lot smaller
They look more like cast iron washers, as you said railroad signals are much smaller.
Thanks for watching today
