These are the turns that favor the fit slower technical, gentle sloping terrain. The fit changes directions really well. It stays flat when initiating a turn with a sensitive steering feel but, light.
100% My pig of an Si's on most turns has to brake through the corners but the fit takes them like a champ. I will say though that if Im just cruising through at 30 mph I almost never need to touch the brake and its pretty satisfying
That was me you passed in the red FD Rx7 at 11:30. I remember one run at some point that week/weekend seeing a honda fit in my rearview when we were driving a fairly spirited pace, and thinking, "wtf?" lol
I want to bring this sort of thing to my part of the country. What is that, Tennessee? And there's a literal Touge Fest? We live right between two huge mountain ranges, with tons of hairpin-fraught passes and logging roads. *No one* local has any interest at all in driving fast. There's a respectable rock crawling scene, but that's it. There's a rally stage sometimes a couple hundred miles north, but that's pro stuff. I go hoon around on the mountain alone sometimes. It'd be awfully nice to have some company.
Man that sounds like a blast. Yes, Touge fest happens twice a year at Tail of the Dragon, one in the spring, and one in the fall. There are a tong of great roads in this area if the Dragon gets too crowded.
Where was this and what was the event? It looks like an open, public road with two way traffic, but there are lots of fancy looking sports cars and motorcycles around. I was expecting to see some cars in the ditch and the trees…
This is at the Tail of the Dragon which sits on Tennessee and North Carolina state lines. The event is called Tougefest where tons of drivers from all over the country come and drive the road as well as other fun roads in the area. Tougefest happens twice a year, one in the Spring and one in the Fall. There is a store on the NC side called Killboy where you can hang out or buy merch and across the street, there is a motorcycle hotel, gas station and eatery. A long the Dragon itself, there are photographers on the side of the road snapping pics of everyone that drives buy no matter the direction youre traveling. There are about 4 different ppl/companies doing this so youre bound to have a photo from someone or all of them. You can buy your shots from their sites which are all time stamped throughout the day.
@@TrackDaysandTougeRuns …And the highway patrol is ok with this?? I’ve done lots of driving on the track and autocross, but going even 6/10 on a narrow road with blue nd curves, ditches and trees are 2-way traffic that includes non-participants wouldn’t be my cup of tea. I’ve found that in the relatively controlled environment of a race track you can drive to your and your car’s potential because you are free of the anxiety of the possibility of hurting someone other than yourself or getting arrested. You can relax and focus on going fast. That said, it looks like a great stretch of road to enjoy. Especially if my wife isn’t in the car…
@trackie1957 Are they okay with speeding or some people being reckless...no but if you're able to get a good run in and there's no law enforcement out its always a great time. I was pulled over last July but luckily all I had to do was pay the fine and it got thrown away
I love my Honda Fit Sport Automatic, But would really like to try the 6-speed. I miss my three 5-speed Miatas, but ya gotta love that Honda V-Tec sound.
That fit is what 100bhp? It Just proves power to weight ratio is important around bends. A Vauxhall Corsa did similar around narrow alleys of Manchester against the police M5.
Im in and around 45-55 mph, sometimes higher (got pulled for doing 73 in a 30 two years ago) but its really traffic dependent. During that event there were a ton of cops hiding in at least 3 different spots so I didnt want to push it. But, if Im being honest, I think I enjoy doing 30-35, and barely using any brake while also having a clear run
I wanted an opinion, I sold my old Volkswagen and I want to fulfill my wish of having a Honda! , in my country Brazil, the price of the Civic 8 generation with the 140 horsepower R18 engine and the Fit 2 generation with the 116 horsepower 1.5 engine are very similar, which would be the best choice? honda fit 2 or civic 8? Thanks, I love your videos
Is it sketchy to have a lot of amateur drivers on this road that might ego wise get into a situation where they're driving above their level of skill, possibly causing hazards?
Soooo. That was the Fabled "dragon' ?? Mildly Mediocre truth be told. Was expecting Much More.... Given the decades of Hype about this road.. No better and actually less of a drive than *many* mountain roads in MY part of the world.
What? There are no "driving lines" if you are keeping between the mustard and mayo which is a must on this road. Tell me you have not driven the Tail without telling me you have never drive the Tail.
Love the Fit's driver - no wheels on the yellow and didn't hang on the slow guys bumper.
the dogfight sticker told me everything i had to know about that fit's performance
I'm gonna get one for my Honda as well. Lol

Don’t sleep on fits. They lowkey the 21st century 86s.
Just picked up a super clean low km 2008 gen 1 fit. Seems like they're going up!
I think the 21st century 86 is the ahh toyota 86
nothing in common besides weight
I'd say they're the modern equivalent to the crx @VoxYokai
the fit is the new honda civic and the civic is the new accord. everything got bigger besides the fit
Laud have mercy! A 4 door CR-X. Its manners are similar 2 my 89si, a man, his memory, and his machine at harmonious balance

Alternate universe where Shingo is the main character of a modern day Initial D
This is what it was like daily driving my Honda Today in Japan.
Honda FIT looks like the perfect Austin/Morris MINI
This looks like the road where that grey FK8 went into the verge and jumped back onto the road
Haha it is
Nice, all you need is a cheesy Eurobeat playing in the background a la Initial D.

Another excellent Honda. I’ve been driving Hondas since the Civic we had in the late 70’s. Just such good cars.
@trackie1957 this would make my 8th owned honda/acura
The best road to weed out the kia's =D
Is it just me or was that really slow?? I've only been at the dragon once rode up/down several times on my scooter and think I was going faster.
