the honda fit is a better modern mini cooper than whatever BMW is making rn
its so practical yet fun to drive, and with honda simplicity+reliability to boot
I used a own an 09 fit sport and I always felt it had a lot of potential if Honda just put in the effort. It handled great; tight direct steering, and was even fun taking it through some canyons even for how slow it was haha. It’s too bad they never beefed it up with more horse power etc
The european ctr of that time was based off of the fit chassis. Unfortunately we never got thay
The Honda Fit is a sweet lil car! Proof that you don't need high HP to have fun! A friend has one with the same sorta basic mods and it is a weapon!! Adding more power would be good but on a regular road not many cars can keep up!!
Great video. I've had a 2010 Fit Sport since new. With almost 250K I have to say it's an epic car. Mine was built in Japan and what build quality. Sure it would be nice with a few more horsepower but honestly I don't need to worry about gas prices. The Fit IMHO is the most underrated car in history. I'm kinda hoping it stays that way in case I need to get another lol.
The only thing that car was missing is tinted glass
Somebody get this guy a Fiesta ST to review! Zygrene your the man!
Does Matt (guy he does his podcasts with) still have his Fiesta ST? I remember watching a lot of his vids when I owned mine. Would be cool to see it on this channel if it's still around. Either way Im sure a Fist with some good tires and LSD would be a riot
@@grembal. Matt sold his FiST a while back. Sad.
@Zygrene what did he end up getting?
I absolutely loved my FiST. Now that people are starting to k-swap them, I sometimes fantasize about picking up another. Would love to see a review on this channel.
@@rj8954 nothing lol. Just drives a Lexus GX now.
I miss my Honda fit! Track spec GD3 with some nice concave RPF1’s. It was such a blast to drive
Sticky tires and great suspension = smiles for miles. Who cares about the anemic 1.5 when you don’t even have to lift in corners?! Great video, great car. Somebody stuffed a k20 in one and ran 24hrs at Daytona and did well. These things can take so much abuse. As a former EH2 owner, I love mine. It’s not from the golden 5th Gen era, but certainly comes close in fun driving
car seems better than I expected, pretty good cornering speeds for a little 205 square setup. A bit more lively on the engine and you've got something much more fun than most anyone would expect
Hahaha welcome to my world man! Now you see why I love my 2005 GD1 as a trackday car. That has even less power (82 HP at the crank), less displacement, half the valves, twice the spark plugs, and is more asthmatic at high revs. All I did to it was swap in a smaller steering wheel and improve brakes and tires, and it gets respectable laptimes if you're willing to give the brakes hell by late braking.
Glad you enjoyed your time on this GE8.
You track a i-DSI L13 engine?
Hey fren, can you recommend a smaller steering wheel? I'm thinking about getting one too----any tips?
I bought a 1993 Fit brand new and still have it with 150,000 miles, everything stock. It's a blast to drive, especially on the freeway at 75-80 mph. Smooth as silk.
Great video. I love this stuff. Keep up the Honda fit content.
I have 2017 Mazda 2 6speed manual and I enjoy my track day with cusco coilovers stick tires and break pads' fun little hatchback
I had two Fits. #1 had some rust issues (I hated it) and it got killed in the rain after hydroplaning over standing water on bad tires. It had a bunch of rep parts. Fit #2 was nearly immaculate and I invested fairly heavily in chassis mods (the real stuff from Japan). A Dodge 2500 driver failed to yield at an intersection and destroyed it just after I finished it. I gave up on Fits and got a Mazda2. I prefer the driving dynamics of the Mazda, although it's not quite as fun and is even more underpowered. The interior is also very spartan...but the seats fit me much better. A K swap Fit would likely be perfection...but 34mpg with the stock 1.5 is also pretty nice.
My first ever track day at Thunderhill East just over 20 years ago was in a 110hp 1.8L AWD Impreza, I know those underpowered feels LOL
That's it, I'm buying a Fit and swapping a K20 in it
Yes the fit is goooo!!! What a track nugget.
so fun to see that car go fast
Fit owner here! I would never track mine but the mods I have: Spoon sports throttle body, spoon sports air cleaner, spoon sports axle back exhaust, and finally spoon sports rigid collars to add even more rigidity. It really is fun even on city driving.
Thats nice dear

Why not? Tracking does not mean you need to go full tilt.
Need to look up Gridlife Sundae Cup!
Love my fit, great video!!!
I have a Honda fit.. I track it too and I agree it needs at least 100 more horsepower.. but it's so much fun on autocross
I autocross mine too! So much fun!
Honda Fit! They're so fun on the track! Slow but stress free and not as scary.. FUN! Consumables are cheaper too, and if you like a lightweight car, these things are about 400 pounds lighter than an S2K!
Finally reviewing a proper track car 😏
I was thinking of getting one of these at one time but man its not just the low HP but the motor actually feels like something is wrong with it, it has no pep no go. This car would have been epic with a K20 even out of the Sis, 200hp would be amazing in this car. I also agree with beefier brakes and an LSD they could have had a Fit type R.
Getting some FWD laps in before the Integra Type S hits the track, huh? How’s the fun factor by comparison to your RWD stable? I’ve toyed with the idea of getting a FWD track car, but I have no FWD experience. All my track cars have been RWD.
What a fun little car! love to make a sleeper.
You didn’t mention the cup holders … the GE Fit is Hondas little pocket rocket.
I have enjoyed tracking mine more then my e36 and s2 🙊
I love your videos bro lol
K24Z7 and a 2011 6-speed and you're good to go!
This is great. I just bought a GE8 to mess around with lol 😂
I got a gk5 and this thing can corner better than most cars on the road .
OOOOOOOOOOooooo SILVERS coilovers! 6KG front, 3KG rear! Are these custom or default spring rates ?
Kinda crazy that an old cheap Fit has better steering that 95% of sports cars sold today. At least it seems like that based on the drive here. I guess the 86 (one of the best modern non P and Lotus car for steering) has better steering but less feel off center of the limits of grip?
Most EPS racks are deliberately programmed with pull-drift compensation to filter steering feedback out to give better customer satisfaction survey results as "most" buyers don't like steering feedback or the steering wheel wriggling around, apparently. 😐 I don't think reasonably good EPS is as hard as some auto makers make out, it's just not what they are going for.
While the Rev hang and clutch delay valve completely ruins the full driving experience lol
@@caiden915x Honed now makes delete kits for those
Needs more VTEC!
Love seeing slow cars driven fast!!!!
With your current HVAC settings; fan 1, full heat, and feet + defrost....aren't you engaging the compressor and robbing power?
Best car ever
Someone get him a 14-15
Fiesta ST!!!
hi friends where did you source the fast shifter
Duude you should try Suzuki Swift sport , in any body , 31 , 32 , 33 . They are much ahead than Fit in handling and performance
I Changed my oil, and then my air filter 😎🍹
Do you use roll center ball joints?
Is It running on OEM suspension? (Shocks and springs)
I’ve owned a lot of Hondas. I can say from experience that the ge8 fit does everything better than a 2005 civic si. Some call it an ep3 I do not.
No car deserves a k-swap more than a fit
Is it funny? Of course, but also the Fit is just a plain, basic, fun car! It's like a practical toy that's less concerned with laying down impressive times or whatever and more with just putting a smile on your face while blending in with your lifestyle. I'd love to replace my 04 Corolla with 12-13 Fit!
2:43 An L15B7 swap is the answer 🍻
Yeah if they'd made an Si, I would've never got my Fiesta ST! Wish I had the time and money to K swap one of those! My brother has one that's great condition and very low miles!
They did make an Si from 08. Not sure if it went to the US
@@Marz2695 it didn’t. 😕😕
I wish more drivers new to track work would start in one of these rather than a 400+hp rear drive platform. Learn the basics here, then graduate to a more capable platform.
That's because white people actually believe that a rear spoiler doesnt work on a front wheel drive car. 🤣🤣🤣
Is this a 1.3 or 1.5?
00:04:12 type R is heat soaked, he's on a cooldown lap 🤣🤣
Awesome video ! Can u tag the person who owns the fits page ?
It's me. Just bought it 🎉
@@hollywood6218 nice bro. You have IG ?
Any idea the source or manufacturer of the headlight mod? I love the square bulb look.
Bro I need a Honda fit 😂😂
Do you know that Mark Zuckerberg drives a Honda Fit?
It’s unfortunately an auto, but it’s a second gen so at least it’s not a CVT.
Is it chassis rigidity, or just a short wheel base?
The whole thing is an aluminum unibody design so it is quite stiff. The stock suspension is stiff, too, so add the short wheel base and it is a monster in the corners.
Was this a base model or sport?
Fuck, I love these kinds of videos. 👌🏾
Yes sir chassis rigidity the newer the generation the stiffer the chassis, I have a 3rd Gen.
FBO 135whp
😂
Poly bushings all around, rigid collars , custom valved coilovers, rear: strut bar, sway bar, cpillar, jdm rs brace, front strut bar, RCAs, camber bolts (-3.8), on 15x9.5/7.5, v730s
It’s not fast unless I’m turning
the new EG budget trac car, cheaper than a miata now
It looks like Fenton just started playing Gran Turismo and he's been given a free car to earn his "D" license before he can move on to a higher class car 🤣. I'll pass on the FWD Fit. Already got a FWD modified K24 RSX 😎
Bet it laps and laps
You say "torsion beam" like it's a bad thing which is puzzling to me.
Way more
Hope the Supra owners don’t see this lol poor guy
I v tec the fit😢
Car needs to be gutted and run with a fuel cell or 1/4 tank. These tanks are under the driver seat and get really bad slosh tho.
Also I own one. They’re fake VTEC 😂
You keep that car in its power band 4500 rpm to 6500 rpm it will scream 120 mph mine will spin the tires at 70 mph stock so wtf gives, mine is a 2008 learn to drive the 5 speed
Lay down the pipe
Should have done 205 55 15s to help keep the drive train truly happy but you can't tell people about lil things that you notice while spending time with these cars . The typical car guy in the states only does what others do with in the chosen platform . Stop looking at one culture when building a car, to Honda owners in particular, an over sized chambered resonator an a header is all you need after the resonator you can up the size of the pipe Stop putting fart cans on Hondas those cars are bikes at heart they sound better with out them
Automatic thumbs down. You're 10 years late. This is common knowledge about the fit chasis.
