Finally, a Bobbie aftershow
Maybe Frankie can get Sigourney Weaver to chat with a couple of her biggest fans for a bit on Ty and That Guy. She doesn't even have to know what _The Expanse_ is, but I bet she would like the show.
Regarding what Wes said at the end: the Expanse has definitely had that kind of impact on me. I'm so happy I've found it. It's something that I'll always remember and miss after it's over.
On me too, definitely. It's hands down my favourite show of all times. When I watched the title sequence of this episode yesterday I almost got teary eyed because I love it so much. I'm not dure how I will deal when it it's finished. I just hope we can get the last 3 books on screen eventually.
Same. I find I’m weirdly reluctant to watch the shows this season cos each one takes us closer to the show not being there anymore.
I am already missing it and the current season isn't even over yet. Truly impressive series, love it!!
This show has been my favorite scifi drama ever. So sad it's going to wrap up. Thanks for the awesome talented people who put this show together. Maybe future movies would be cool hint hint 😃
Same for me, I will cherish these moments for the rest of my life.
I think The Expanse is going to go down as an important, memorable show for sure.
the yardstick against all who come after get measured
We all know how special the show is. I just wish it was recognized and enjoyed by a wider audience. I'm grateful that the show has been able to accomplish what it has, and I expect the fan base to continue to grow. I hope we see its influence on future shows and films, as well.
Until the final two seasons The Game of Thrones looked like it would set the standard - then it shit the bed. Part of the problem they had on GOT was they ran out of source material and started winging it - and it showed. The writing became trite and the final season was one long and hurried attempt to tie everything up with a bow. Thankfully, The Expanse does not face that problem. Having Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham on-site and participating was a key decision that is paying huge dividends. I hope there is a decision to complete the series Franck and Abraham wrote, but if that doesn't happen it will still be a great series.
@@MTerrance Six seasons and a movie!
"Six seasons and a movie!"
I've been thinking of that, too. 😆
It was great to see the signoff transformed from the normal passive/aggressive "say goodbye Ty" - to a phenomenal signoff with first Nadine jumping in and then Frankie bringing it home.
I always say "Goodbye, Ty" at the end, too.
I know I am being preemptive but I am going to miss these guys together, they have such great chemistry.
One of my favourite lines from the books still has to be Amos, commenting about Bobbie, saying “When it comes to scrapes, I’m what you might call a talented amateur. But I’ve gotten a good look at that woman in and out of that fancy mechanical shell she wears. She’s a pro. We’re not playing the same sport.”
This show is a book adaptation to television/film done right, and the involvement of Ty and Daniel are the key. They understand the material better than anyone, and recognize that there were improvements that could be made, so they listen to the general audience reception, the feedback from the directors, and most importantly, the actors and their insights into the characters. In these Aftershow interviews, Ty shows repeatedly how much he respects the actors' interpretations of the characters that he created, and that's what makes the Expanse feel so real and organic.
I love what Nadine has done with Clarissa in her performance. I didn’t notice how pretty she is until I saw her in season 5, though she hadn’t physically changed much. It’s like she exuded some kind of menacing aura through the TV in season 3, which made you root against her even more.
Now she’s a warm and lovely character who you can sympathise with, it’s like your perception of her in her entirety is completely altered. Another insanely talented person on this show.
She was menacing, and out of her mind in season 3, then sick and not at 100% in season 5, but in this season she's as healthy as Peaches can be, and settling in to a new family and being happy for the first time arguably ever.
IMHO, I put THIS on the vision of the show's creators. (Not the authors- this is TV and I Did Not Finish the books, but then I DNF'd GOT books too)
First, they have incredibly talented directors. Secondly they have a cast that really knows how to bring it. A great actor has to have the talent & skill for the craft, but they need a great director to get them to bring out certain emotions in a take.
I'm so smoked by this series' production values. I haven't even talked about the FX, lighting, sound and music. I'm so damn smoked.
@@jimm3370 you do realize that the authors also write the show, right?
@@dwcramer92 No I didn't know that. And I'm not positive you're correct. I'm also too lazy to determine if you are or not. Bottom line fore me: Shitty books, GREAT TV.
It’s interesting because I've always felt a strong attraction to Clarissa's character, even from the beginning. As evil as she may have seemed, I've always felt drawn to her and even kinda rooted for her.
It doesn’t hurt that she’s easy on the eyes.
So as you can imagine I'm absolutely stoked that she’s back and actually a crew member of the Roci.
Mad props to the casting director. Between her, Bobby & Drummer, they definitely know how to pick interesting and amazing actresses.
I've said this before, but I'll say it again- Wes is an excellent interviewer. Great episode
“For a brick, (S)he flew pretty good!”
-Sgt Avery Johnson, Halo 2
Johnson is the best.
Bobbie would have made a great Spartan.
The casting is so much of what makes this show as great as it is, and those are two of the absolute finds of The Expanse - they’re so great, and convey so much, so well. Oh yeah, and Wes is here.
Huge fan of Frankie Adams! So good to see her on this episode. Bless all of you!
Frankie Adams I love her she's just a beautiful person I love watching her
Frankie and Nadine! I love seeing more of this wonderful cast and crew. We're getting spoiled with the guests and what they bring to the discussion this season. I'll always turn up for Ty and Wes, but the more the merrier.
I get what they were going for with the scene where Clarissa uses her mod, but I don't think it worked at all as it was edited. It ended up just being confusing and hard to tell what just happened. Other than that it was an amazing episode. That chase scene with the Roci and the Azure Dragon was so fucking cool.
I agree. That scene was probably tough to edit, but it seems like it could have been tweaked a little bit to maintain the same frenetic energy while making the action clearer.
Yep, had to watch two times to understand what was happening.
I think they fail to make they viewer see the flanking Belter look like a threat to Bobby, he is there for barely a second and his gun looks similar to the ones that just bounced of her power armour (minus the under barrel rocket/grande launcher that I had to rewind to notice)
If they gave him a big AT-4 or something similar it would convey the urgency for Clarissa to act fast much better.
I actually cheered when Holden sees Bobbie in the airlock!! IF you're reading this Wes, The Expanse for many, many of us IS 'one of those shows' that have an impact on not only their audience but on the very fabric of their arena... and Time and Space of course! And that is.. Rare... Can anyone say 'Spin off shows' PLEASE???
It occurs to me that Bobbie Draper may be the only person in the system that would feel comfortable calling Amos Burke "Peewee," and that he would let get away with it.
Burton
@@Paul-vf2wl you are correct and I realized my error only after I was away from my computer. Thank you.
@@LeeCarlson It's all good just my pedantic nature lol
*Timmy
😛
I wonder will she call him "peewee" after how episode 5 ended 🤣
Just finished up watching the 2nd episode again so I’m ready for this discussion!
Intelligent discussion definitely beats 95% of all the other noise.
PS - CGI vomit, who knew that is a thing!
I think Michael Bay has that trademarked.
I'm actually mad at the barf. They've been in space for centuries. Helmets would have a mechanism for dealing with barf.
Nadine is such a lovely person, it was fun listening to her explaining what it's like playing a villain on a redemption arc, definitely not an easy job to win people back
She seems very sweet. It's weird seeing her beaming face juxtaposed with the character I'm used to seeing her play, much like Cara and Drummer.
@@qwertyferix You have the same thing in the Hawkeye series with Maya Lopez/Alaqua Cox.
The character looks like she's on a constant rage and she's ruthless. The actress, on the other hand, is a real sunshine (and it's her very first acting gig)
@@axlm.808 I knew it was her first role, but I haven't seen any of her outside of playing Maya. I like her on-screen, though; she clearly has talent. That's another show with a great cast.
It's cool to know that future kids will keep their dead alien birds in the same containers as my leftover pasta Alfredo!!!
Ripley with her beeping Power Loader suit is definitely the highlight of this Aftershow! :-D
It's still so weird seeing Wes smile. How does Amos have dimples? 🤣🤣🤣
I guess he actually _can_ act. 😛
A lot of the cast seem to be very warm and lovely, when their characters are far from it. The guests on this very episode, Nadine and Frankie, are two more examples.
602 was epic.
Character interaction > tense action scenes > SFX
Thank you for putting up this on RUclips.
Having just finished Persepolis Rising, I felt so emotional when Peaches is accepted in the crew. Such a great character. Can’t wait to see where the show takes her.
Wait a sec, is Frankie going to be in the Avatar sequels!?!?
Sure sounds like it, good for her! Ty and Wes looked jealous as hell that Frankie got to hang out with Ripley though :)
The Peach Bobby scene is cut a little TOO much. I had to watch it 3 times to understand what happened. The whole thing is like once second. I think a couple of seconds, maybe a slow-mo of Peaches launching at the guy and knocking off his helmet would of been awesome. It was the only scene on the entire episode felt a little rushed.
The pacing of that scene felt correct. It all happened in the blink of an eye, which is how it would likely be experienced by those in the middle of it. Yes, I would have liked it to be broken down, for my entertainment pleasure, but for me its brevity added to the realism.
I'm torn between the authentic sense of chaos portrayed in the cut we got and the idea of the scene being easier to follow. Both have merit. I think showing just a split second more of Clarissa taking the guy out as he fired would have struck a better balance.
Agree. I watched it twice and still had no idea what happened until Amos says that that rocket would've split Bobby's suit open later in the infirmary. I didn't even know there was a rocket involved. From the shot on the ship's surface, I thought he had a shotgun and she just diverted his aim or smthn. Very weird sequence. Almost like they missed shooting some material and just had to make do with editing.
I also replayed it to figure it out
Yeah, I had to play it twice. You could definitely see the scars of where the scene had been cut too, which isn’t great. Doesn’t really distract from a fabulous episode though.
Amos is one of my favorite characters on screen ever!!! Well done Wes~ appreciate this podcast
Frankie is awesome. Thanks for inviting her.
As for the last statement, you guys achieved that, thank you for the show!
My wife and I watched the series from the beginning to S6/E3 again, we keep picking up on things we missed the first/second time. Folks...you did fantastic work and new episodes will be missed.
The expanse has had such an impact on me and everyone I get to watch it ends up binging it in like a week or two and instantly becomes one of the best shows ever! I freaking appreciate everyone involved in this show for giving us such a gift of true art!
I wish I knew more people locally that loved this show enough to have a huge end of season watch party.
its so true..the way they edited that shot outside the azure dragon...it happened so fast i sat up like what happened! and rewound it twice. but it makes sense it felt like how it would feel in real time. you blink and its happened.
Wes asks such great questions.
So appreciate the time and effort put into these aftershow productions. Being a syfy fan since the 80's the expanse rates top of my list, with altered carbon a close second. Hope so much the books will inspire a season 7 and beyond
Going to be sad to see this end but happy to have been along for the ride. Thanks everyone.
I've been watching the whole time on PC and never clicked on the X-Ray bonus videos. Thank you for mentioning it! Just got to watch another 25 minutes of The Expanse I didn't know existed. Love you all and hope some sane platform picks you up to complete the story!
I’m loving the season and can’t wait to watch every week. And of course I always love this podcast. 😘
So good. I love everyone here
Ditto what BloodyFourSquad said, except for the part of missing it when it's over. It's still there and I recently rewatched it- the second rewatch of the last season, and the third or fourth time for the rest. What Wes said about making a difference- you guys managed to get all the pieces together for what is, in my opinion, the best sf ever put on any size screen. You probably get it a lot, but, congratulations. Now I have to read those last three books- again- to finish the story of the crew. Maybe someone will take a shot at adapting those someday.
That was CGI vomit? I thought that was some real liquid. Definitely the most amazing CGI vomit out there!
10:50 I'm hoping Frankie is hinting at a scene I've been longing to see from the books, where fans of Amos and Bobbie finally see a long-standing debate settled. (though I recall it happening differently in the book)
These after shows are f’in awesome
Fuck I am going to miss these so much. So wholesome. Most actors suck and you can see they genuinely don't really care. Every. Single. Person. Making. This. Show. Absolutely loves and supports it in a way you never see.
I hope in 5-10 years they do the 3rd trilogy, I have to see shipping container Naomi and Castle Holden!
TE is just the most amazing show! Love it so much and everyone was just so incredible!
I would love to get an update on Anna. All the chaos on Earth has me worried for her family. I wonder how she would feel about Peaches now?
@Wes, you have achieved that goal. Thank you!
Viewer #3 checkin on you guys, and complaining about the shortness of the episodes!
Co production with Amazon… not under our control. Same length as the Aftershow last year.
@@TYandThatGuy I was referring to the length of the broadcast episode of only about 43 minutes... I needed much much more!
Big love to all of you who put realistic women on tv shows wearing realistic and functional clothing. Same with interview shows. I hope the women of Expanse keep influencing others.
I love the books and the show and have enjoyed getting to know everyone better on the podcast. Thanks Ty and that guy ❤️
The wardrobe is one part of the show that makes it feel so believable and lived in. Of course, the writing and portrayal of the characters are great.
And I don't know how realistic Avasarala's collection of incredibly ornate, lavish clothing and jewelry is, but Shohreh sure looks spectacular in them. 👌
The best SF show I've seen in a very long time! Love all these characters, especially Bobbie! Wes Chatham is a great host.
Nadine has done a phenomenal job as Peaches, and that's in a show with acting talent across the board. It's been a long while since I've enjoyed a series so much, and the great thing is it bears multiple re-watchings.
Really hope to see all there actors on other shows soon. They are all so good
The best science fiction show on television. They learned from Firefly, they learned from Battlestar Galactica, which, by the way, you better hustle your ass to see both as quickly as possible. The Expanse is about human beings reacting to the unexplainable as human beings. For better or worse. This show fucking owns!
Can’t wait for the movie!
Wait! We didn't get that X-Ray yet! The second one was with Avasarala. Loved the second episode. It's good to see the Roci crew get a boost with Bobbie on board. Hope she sticks around to be our Martian representation. I also hope they get paid nicely for doing this mission. It felt good to have this win. let the missles fly and take out the rocks!
Love these chats! Keeping doing them!
Love these. Everyone has turned this season into something powerful. Well done!!!
1:10 - I like that Bobby's character is "Leadership Idealism" with regard to both being a soldier and a patriotic Martian. The romantic part of this, is that this kind of "Leadership" mentality is easy when you are part of a community that shares the same values. And in some sense, it's creates the danger of her not being a true leader, but rather having a "semblance" of one as it is expected in the military. As her character goes through the Narrative Arc, every pillar she believed in falls apart such as her dreams and community. However, that fire of Leadership that may have been almost superficial in some sense while she was a Martian soldier, is brought out, because true "Leadership Idealism" doesn't care about circumstances in that sense, it remains mission focused.
Over too soon. Still have not seen the extra footage on Amazon Prime and yes I am a member just does not work.
It only works on mobile apps. Try pulling it up on your cell phone or tablet
"Charm and sense of humour" = "You'll only hurt yourself Peewee".
Great to see the women on the Podcast
It's about time!
Amazon: Hey guys, sorry but the show's too expensive, can you wrap it up in 6 episodes?
Also Amazon: Hey guys, we've got all this spare money, want to make some fun vignettes?
This episode was so fucking good.
Ty & That Guy...
& Those Lovely Ladies :)
Remember,Clarissa saved them all.
By all, you are referring to the human race?
@@PHDiaz-vv7yo Yes, she started her redemption arc at a very high point
She should have her own TV show on Nickelodeon called "Clarissa Saves Them All."
@@qwertyferix yeah… I’m gonna try to admit I’m not getting that reference…
Multiple times.
Is it just me who rhinks that for some reason (two of them) that Ty smiled a lot more and talked a lot more this episode? lol
I love this show. Why does this season only have 6 episodes? Was that planned from the Before the Pandemic Times or was the season compressed because of COVID?
From what I recall (so someone please correct me). There was not enough of a budget to do everything they wanted unless the season was much shorter.
GySgt Bobbie Draper and Lt. Ellen Ripley. Now that's a team up.
I love this
Great show, had to just buy book 7, just was wondering where are these x-rays on Amazon Prime in the UK coz can't see them??
That was great. Thank you!
Just got to say that Wes, pro level show host
Chatham for Wolverine 2022!
Chatham for Commander Shepard, assuming they go that way with the show. I'd still rather see them do the First Contact War, but I'd still love to have Wes on board.
Reminds me ep one where Alex threw up in his helmet, and Shedd, well, Shedd's dead, but Shedd saved Alex. REMEMBER THE CANT!
I have Amazon and CANNOT find these Xrays anywhere. Will they ever be available anywhere else? God i hope so.
Fan Number 6 in the house!
I think Expanse has joined the likes of Battlestar Galactica and Babylon 5. I dont think anyone who sees these shows will ever forget them.
I love the Das Boot vibe they've got going this season.
I love this show
just to be clear, the bonus with Bobbie and Amos is yet to come right?? 602 bonus was with Avasarala, no?
Yes
The expanse is Thee best scifi space novela, ever. For me, all others to come will be judged by the bar set by expanse series
X-ray extra footage is sooo epic! Everytime I think of Pee Wee...I see Wes's face from here on out...I cant un-see it...
Where are you finding the shorts? I just can't seem to find them in the Xray section, and I really want to see them!
@@H.Ochoa9 if you haven’t found them yet, you have to do it on mobile only. They don’t appear on tv apps and I’m not sure if it’s on the browser either. Pull up the show on a phone and click bonus content after you pause the episode.
@@PanaoriosGaming Well there's the problem! I was trying to watch on my tv's app.
@@H.Ochoa9 hopefully Amazon fixes that but there’s two mini episodes so far, enjoy!
@@PanaoriosGaming I will, thanks!
I have such a mad crush on Frankie and my girlfriend knows it. We also both agree that Nadine (and Wes) are too pretty. :)
Interesting how Gunny Draper's experience mirrors the real experience of so many military personnel... lied to, betrayed and left behind.
Where do I find X-ray short? I watched 6-2 on Prime and didn’t find it. Bonus content shows stills but no video. Thx
You need to start the episode as usual, then pause it, and then you'll see the X-ray at top left of the screen. Then to Bonus Content and the shorts will be in it.
Yeah, you need to start the episode and open the menu while it's playing/paused. It's not intuitive.
Also, it is very broken on some devices. I can't get it to work on my Roku at all, but it shows when I view the episode via my PC.
@@MsRedNebulaPlays thx, will try on my win 10 pc. No joy on ios iphone! Do love that Prime has the xray feature its so informative. Maybe Wes or his guys could post a version on RUclips?
@@jamesrmore For me, you have to wait until the end credits; if you hit the X-ray then, you'll see the link.
We love you Bobbie
You need anti-grav for real heavy battle armor, in sci fi. But, if you got anti-grav you could have Neutronium armor. You make Goliath armor look good Frankie. Don't let wes fuck your leg, don't let him!
So Frankie, a full ruck, in the U.S Infantry is like 100 lbs max you're wearing 180 pound FAKE goliath armor? That's bad ass!
The Expanse IS that thing.
Oh there's my GROPO!
Frankie is fantastic onscreen. Bobby Draper is my favorite character
No mention of the other storylines in this episode?
We really need a season 7
I tried calling Frankie "peaches" and ended up in an airlock, so that was a no go. Damn Martian Marines...
The Nadine & That Girl Show.
Sad that we won't here haas anymore
I would have never guessed the vomit was CGI it was so realistic 👀👀😂
At least she didn't have to wear that heavy suit on earth. Imagine using that on 1g gravity!
It supports itself and enhances her strength, though.
I love these shows. You guys are incredible and this is a fabulous treat.
I can't wait for the novelettes to follow:
1. What happens to Cara and her brother? Does zombie Amos adopt them?
2. What happens in the 1000yrs? What about the colonies struggling to survive? Only win-win stories please.
3. What does the science bunch do after the gates down? Does anyone get back to the BFE?
4. Does Naomi mix her stored ova with Holden;s stuff and make a family?
You guys better start cranking out the books. Please don't be like certain other people, make the SA Corey legacy now, while us fans are still alive to soak them up.
Oh, I was calling her Peaches to shine her on... just kidding.
So glad I didn't have to re-experience the trauma of Bobbie and Peaches that comes in the books,
pee-wee. question for ty--is there a hierarchy to belter speech? Naomi, Marco, and one or two other seem to speak a dialect closer to English than several of the other belters.
