After watching this, I had to give this a try. It’s certainly a striking film. The lighting, the staging…. Really trippy! And Cage’s over-the-top style fit the character to a “T”.

Make a sequel to Mandy but every bad guy is Wes in a different costume getting fucked up by Nicolas Cage

The part that sticks in my mind a lot is the scene where Mandy and Red are infront of the tv. There is a snail pace zoom in as Mandy talk about a traunatic event from her childhood and Red comforts her. It really establishes their relationship and how they help each other. Also reminds me of conversations I've had in only a couple relationships and they mean so much.

The female quad gang menber asks Red "You have a death wish?"

I think the two movies are great in different ways. It's true that Fury Road is by far the more elegant, more focused and more polished work, whereas Furiosa is a lot more meandering. On the other hand, that laser focus of Fury Road comes with a downside as well - as much as it allows for a super-cohesive story, that story is also very basic, whereas Furiosa weaves a much grander tapestry. I like them roughly equally, for very different reasons. But also, I think the action scenes in Furiosa, CGI or not, were if anything more inventive. That war rig scene in particular was amazing, made only more so by the fact that the primary protagonist didn't even take part in the actual fight other than in a support capacity, which was quite original and refreshing.

"Thats it that there's the answer there: be gentle with yourself." (Poor bastard.) This ^ here is the most real take away ever. 😅

it was watchable at least. but i knew before i saw it that there was no way in hell it could live up to fury road. thats really the only way to go into a sequel though, and if it blows you away in an aliens/terminator 2/twok sort of way, good. but going in expecting miracles will just lead to disappointment.

Thanks for being late on this, much anticipated move for me, It took a while for it all to sink in, Mad max movie in epic form threw me off, lots of great points here, I still think it's a movie I'll be watching a few more times.

I had the worst day ever. My pet centipede got run over by a toddler on a tricycle, my wife informed me that we won't be having steak tonight, my husband told me that he's found out about my wife, and my other pet centipede lost all of it's legs of it's left side so just goes around in circles now. But this was all saved by getting to listen to this podcast and that Wes wasn't on it, thanks.

The Phantom Menace had more practical effects than the OT. A lot of fans arent as keen eyed as they pretend to be. And TPM had the VFX shots than The Force Awakens. Can we stop pretending that whether or not is practical matters and just ask what it does for the narrative. Crap films can be practical. Great films can be CGI

The transition leading into the beginning of Fury Road didn't work for me. Feel like that should have taken years to get to that point.

Come on, let's face it, you can say it: you fired Wes. That's good, It was high time you did! ;)
