Clancy Brown is large and intimidating for the whole film, but at the end when they haul him off, he's small and almost childlike with the fear on his face. Truly an amazing actor!
I adore you guys even harder for giving Clancy some love here. I have been a Clancy fan since 14 yr old me saw him in Buckaroo Banzai (in the theaters summer of '84). Thrilled to see Buckaroo make the Top 5 and gotta that Clancy was the best thing in the Spielberg series Earth2... okay, maybe the ONLY reason to remember Earth2...
28:19 Bob Gunton is so good in this. He’s also amazing in my favorite Star Trek TNG episode “The Wounded.” Btw if anyone is ever in the Mansfield, Ohio, area, ado yourself a favor and go to the Ohio State Reformatory. It’s where they filmed Shawshank and it is a great place to tour.
At the point of my life where I really needed to watch the Shawshank Redemption again, this episode helped me realize that... One of my favorite discussions between you two guys.
I always felt like the final sequence is a dream rather than an actual reunion of Red and Andy. Red is still on the bus when he gives the I hope speech and then he falls asleep. Andy has been down there for a couple of years but we don't see any signs of construction just him sanding an old boat.
Bob Gunton was the 2nd best Captain on Star Trek, after Ronny Cox of course! Bob told Picard that his ready room was stuffy, like a bureaucrat's office.
Hell yeah, love this movie. My father and I used to have the same reaction to it as Ty: if it's on, you have to watch it. We called each other over the phone, "hey, Shawshank is on in generic-channel!" put it on and commented on it untill the end. We had a bunch of movies like that. Fun times. Love your takes on the movie too, so spot on. I'm with Wes about the Warden, he got away easy by committing suicide before going through prison, he could still have done it after (karma!). Also didn't know about the original ending and I think it would've made a much better one. Too bad hearing about we losing Bill (the eighth fan), but I'm sure if you keep working hard we can recover in about a year time or so. :P
“I'll pull you out of that one-bunk Hilton and cast you down with the Sodomites. You'll think you've been f***ed by a train. And the library? Gone... sealed off, brick-by-brick. We'll have us a little book barbecue in the yard. They'll see the flames for miles. We'll dance around it like wild Injuns. You understand me? Catching my drift... or am I being obtuse?” This scene is so intense and the line delivery is incredible..
8:17 Ty is right on the money. They did the Governor arc and then they did it like 3 more times. Awful. There were whole episodes with very little zombies, I was like why am I warching this? Then I stopped.
@@am1507 Where I first saw him and how I see him whenever I think of him. Also liked him in Cowboys and Aliens. Like to think of the two characters as relatives, maybe grandfather and grandson.
I don’t know that THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION is a great work of art, but it certainly is one of *craft* that in its considerable length makes hardly a single misstep. Comparing it to the source material, about my only knock is that you sometimes miss King’s wicked interior voice, such as when Red informs us that he hopes a particularly obnoxious prison guard wound up dying of intestinal cancer in a place where morphine was unavailable.
This is how the modern prison system is. I appreciate you guys are just talking about pop culture, but the modern world is so much worse than this movie. Maybe say something about what's going on in this country, and let people know.
I agree with Ty - Shawshank is one of the great American movies. Can't tell you how much I enjoyed this episode. Thanks a million guys.

One of the best breakdowns of one of the best films!!! Outstanding work!!!!

Wes once again is why I tune in. Great intro guys! This is IMDB's number one movie on their top 250 list!
Can the YT analytics tell y'all if someone has scrolled back to hear Wes shout "Welcome Back!!" *multiple* times? Coz I've done that before... 😅
Evening! Bukaroo Banzai definitely.

Clancy Brown was Rawhide in Buckaroo Banzai. I love that movie! Thanks, folks.
His character in The Venture Brothers.

Great show. I also have always liked your end credit theme song. Does that mean there's something wrong with me? 😅😢
No, it's not just you! I also like it a lot. 😎

Just to spite you Wes I'm telling 7 of my closets friends to like and subscribe to the channel😁
Carnevale was great such a shame it got cancelled but when it comes to best Clancy Brown "There can be only one" ;)
Buckaroo Banzai FTW!
Clancy would have totally come on this podcast. What if Thrawn (and a certain stormtrooper that follows him) goes to Lothal?
i am here and NOT asleep
1:10:23 That's so funny because you know Wes would've played Casper Van Dien's role in a heartbeat.
excellent cast. the green mile is also full of interesting characters and stories.
Another guy who must watch Shawshank to the end, no matter where it is in the film.
Great episode! But Wes' torn T-shirt makes he fell like one of us.

Started this, had to watch the movie again and then finish
Shawshank and The Body. If he'd only written the two he'd still be an interesting author
“You assume the narrator is safe.” Joe Pesci: “Hold my - ulp!”
Clancy Brown would have made a good Jack Reacher twenty years ago
Very important movie for me. I'm very similar to Andy in many ways and trying to escape my own metaphorical prison. Hope is crucial to me.
Viewer Number 9, checking in.
I'm gonna bet that top 5 Clancy Brown overlooks his amazing rendition of Lex Luthor from Superman TAS and Justice League....
They better have Buckaroo Bonzai on the list😊

AAnnnd Ty never tells his Darabont story....
Nope I totally did but for some reason Joseph cut it.

Dope!
Frank Darabont also directed “The Myst,” so there’s yet another reason to have the highest expectations from this director.
It's not often I can say a movie is 10/10 and perfect, but I can't find anything to nitpick here. There's nothing.
55:57 Why did he say "cement" like that💀
Brooks was here
And Red
im too high to play kerbal so im watching this instead.
Ty is there any chance of you and Naren going to Disney and offering to save Star Wars for them?
