Here is my second rendition of storm chasing with a Phantom Flex 4K. The best shots from two years of storm chasing jammed into 3.5 minutes.
Stats: 35K miles traveled, 30 terabytes of hard drive space, 300 hours editing/coloring, 3 speeding tickets
Technical info: The Phantom Flex4K is a camera that must be post triggered while shooting high speed. This works out well for capturing lightning because the camera is always recording and rewriting to internal ram. As soon as a bolt appears in my view finder I trigger the camera to save what has been stored in the ram. Shooting at high frame rates requires a lot of light. Therefore, I mostly used my Zeiss Otus 28, 55, and 85mm lenses wide open at f1.4.

Its the best video of Lightnings in the whole world, my two year old baby simply loves it. When the rain starts i show her the video then she inmedietly goes to the window to watch the entire storm.

A must watch on a home theater. This is one of if not THE best I’ve seen.
What a fucking universe we live in. I couldn't stop thinking that as soon as I started watching. I absolutely love thunderstorms (I believe that's called an understatement), and then those time-lapses of storm clouds moving over a landscape.... There's something surreal and beautiful about part of nature (us) altering resources into more and more elaborate, precise and ordered forms to develop technologies that allow us to enhance our appreciation of other parts of nature. Seeing things either sped up or slowed down dramatically can show something familiar, and even trivial, in such a new light; yet I believe it allows us to actually truly see how amazing it is in the first place. That's art if anything is imo.

I hope that you once again release an extended version which showcases all of these flashes in detail. Seeing lightning footage at 1000fps in such a high resolution is a unique experience... one which has been hidden from humanity for thousands of years until these cameras were created and talented photographers like yourself brought them out on long journeys to capture it.

Wow, just wow. This kept on popping up on my recommendation feed and I’ve been ignoring it for the past 3 days. Finally decided on watching it at 2:51 in the morning and Jesus. This video is literally breathtaking. The different structures of supercells, the array of lighting, the downpours. All of it is just.... WOW! Definitely didn’t know what I was missing out on.
Most amazing choreographed video with perfect music accompaniment. This should be world wide famous already. Hats off to all associated with this production.

If only NASA would use this kind of high quality camera for their missions such as the Titan mission . I was all hyped up for the photographs that they promised would be great but was extremely disappointed in what they got especially considering the price of the cameras and how specialized they had to be for the mission . I was expecting sharp clear images but it was a joke . The fish eye lense idea was kinda cool for the descent to the surface but once it touched down we got only one static image of the surface and not a very good one .
yeh, space flight is kind of tough on hardware. I doubt a Phantom Flex4K price=US$108,600.00 would make it past the launch pad
Trust me when I say NASA has high uhd pictures of everything they just wont release them
Do you know how dificult it is to get a good camera to work at those temperatures and in this environment? If the pictures are too good they would use all the connection to send those pictures to earth and can't reakt on the other side
This is due to the image being uploaded several times and also having to do with bandwidth and compression of hihgh-resolution images that anyone but people with high-end CPUs could render to watch. If they were not using multi-million dollar specialized cameras, the footage would be ALOT worse. Keep that all in mind, your complaints are unfounded.
Do you know how hard that would be? He said he had terabytes worth of video, It'd take years for that to be able to be transmitted to Earth.
