- The Atacama desert is home to the darkest and cleanest skies in the world. A view to the nightsky rewards with uncountable numbers of stars and fantastic nebulas in one of the most quiet a empty places on earth. Not a single noise distracts from the grand show the nightsky has to offer.
The environment is harsh though. Filmed in freezing temperatures, altitudes up to 5000m/16000ft, salt lakes and icy slopes, the Atacama is not friendly to life and equipment. Though it provides without doubt for epic and vast vistas of one of the greatest landscapes on earth.

Thank you so much for using my music in this awesome video!

that music was heart and soul of this video
I'm watching this with emotion. I was born in Atacama, in a small mining town called Potrerillos, almost 3.000 meters over sea level and those are the skies I was able to watch at night, the sunsets and sunrises...the snow and ice in the Andes Mountains were my town was, the emptyness...the silence.. .... How many nights laying in my house's backyard looking at the stars... My child memories...

Why we don’t make a day to turn off all the electricity to appreciate the view of our amazing sky .
@@FabianVolf1 when is the day?
Yess!!, it would call the international day of the stars, just imagine to turn off the electricity in every city of the world, and everybody getting out from their houses to observe the sky and the wonderful stars in family. It would be great, probably it'd be my favorite day of all the year. Sorry for my bad english:(
I once was vacationing at Cape Hatteras, N.C. and there was a power outage on the Island at about two in the morning. I have never seen so many stars. Beauty beyond the imagination.

The combination of this imagery and Peter's music would truly be phenomenal!
That was one of the most beautiful ways to feel so small

Why is that a bad thing?

Light pollution ruins the night skies, unfortunately. As a kid, I lived in Northern Coastal California and I remember the night skies filled with brilliant stars. Decades later and removed from those nights, I still dream of those skies once in a while.
@@thudthud5423 yes it does but people work and do a lot of stuff at night so having no light would be impossible

Irónicamente en la aridez del desierto, logras apreciar la fertilidad del universo, de donde somos y donde iremos.............es algo mágico
Universo incrível, e o mais incrível é saber que nada nem ninguém criou ele, pois ele é auto existente. Nós somos a consciência do universo.
Nasci ateu e vou morrer ateu. Assim sou feliz de verdade.

A great video from the amazing San Pedro De Atacama skies... it brings me nostalgia from the time when I touch the sky with a girl that isn't by my side anymore...
The time when hope was the only thing we have...
Beautiful... someday I'll come back there, and spell her name in silence, with wet eyes maybe, but I will close the circle then...
And then and only then... I really reach the Victory...
For her

"Heck" of a video dude. I was in tears halfway through the video. All I could think of was whether any of this will remain by the time we grow old and if our children can see it. All I could think of was that I'd one day take my future kids to see wonders like these, wherever they may be. I've always loved videos like these, and the idea of other worlds or even just seeing the stars. Some of my favourite moments were when the sky started blue and slowly turned pink, or when the night sky, full of stars, seemed to be rotating. And 1:37 was just breathtaking. This is a 5-year-old video and my comment won't get many likes, but I hope someday in the future I will return to this video (and I'm sure I will!) and I'll see this comment.
Volte🎉

@Lookit Demskies to believe that this was intentional is an extremely basic conclusion. As you don't have the answer to that, the only thing that you come up with is that it was created by somebody? I think that humanity needs to be brave and accept that such thing like god doesn't exist. We are in 2020, how can people get to such childish conclusion
@Lookit Demskies I believed in god when I was a child, then I started to investigate and analise life by myself and came to the conclusion that the existance of god is just another myth created by humans. You like to believe with blindness, in my case I don't believe, I know
@Lookit Demskies I always try to talk about this matters with respect because we all have different ideas. I understand your point about society but I know that humanity can be good without a god, just like me. Most criminals, from small ones to presidents, believe in a god, that is a fact. For me, religion allows you to be a horrible person because in the end you will be forgiven. If you don't believe in god you do good just because you know that being good is the right way to live, not because a religion says so
