BB would be proud, brother!! THIS is what so many young "shredders" don't get. Music needs space to breathe. That's what separates the good from the great. The space between and knowing where to put it. Brilliant stuff.
Agree. Carlos Santana could tremolo pick as fast as any shredder in his prime, but he kept it classy. Great instrumentalists engage in dialog with other instrumentalists and vocalists. Shredders monolog. The electric guitars are like violins. They generally sound better with accompaniment. Sure - endless scale runs and legato are impressive. So is watching a dog can lick it's balls. It's not something I find pleasing. The dog on the other hand....🤩
It depends on the genre of music you wouldn't hear this played in Country, Metal, Rock, etc...just as you won't hear heavy shredding in blues with a whole bunch of distortion.
I don't think Bloomfield's underrated, he's simply not known like Hendrix, Clapton, BB King... which is a shame! But everyone who knows Bloomfield knows he's an all time great!
Not underrated. Maybe you meant not as popular among guitar players. Especially younger ones. Bloomfield stood out as a stylist. Check him out with The Paul Butterfield Blues Band and later Live at Fillmore West. Also Electric Flag. His slow blues are probably the best I’ve heard. He was one of those players that you recognized after one or two notes. When everyone was playing like Clapton or Page I wanted to sound like Bloomfield. But that’s his style and I learned also what not to play by listening to him. Phrasing is what makes a Blues player stand out for me. Miss him greatly.
Underrated means he is not recognized as one of the greats. And that’s absolutely not true. What you probably meant was “not enough players these days kind about him”
Hello Mr. Jack Ruch ! I`m in your lessons almost every day and I love it ! Your calm manner you give us your knowledge at the highest level is great ! Thank you very much ! I`m a fan from germany !
I seen prob the best shredders live but technically not a blues player in the purest form hearing David Gilmour live 8 years ago really open my eyes on spacing and phrasing what I love about your instruction Jack you mention the intervals that's so important for new players to understand , brilliant lesson thanks I learned so much from this lesson !!
Jack! You are a brilliant musician. Your knowledge of PRACTICAL music theory as applied to the guitar is astounding. Notwithstanding the fact that for I already know and practically apply many issues that You are speaking about I always come away from your lessons having attained a higher level of musicianship.
Thank you for this Bloomfield lesson. He seldom gets mentioned. But I knew you would get around to it. I’m sure you and him would have hit it off and played together.
Great lesson here! Bloomfield has been a huge influence on me since back in the day when he was playing. He's the foundation of my blues playing style. Thanks for breaking it down and explaining it in a way only you can.
So good brother. Sooo good. The blues is all about building and releasing tension, call and response, and smooth howling bends with ringing vibrato. It's ALL about feel, and feel is all about the goove and timing. Dancing with it. Your playing is sweet, and you break it down perfectly for punters like me can have a shot at the pocket. Nice....
Very nice. I appreciate that you explain the scale degrees like you do. I love BB and slow blues. I'll be working on this for sure. I need to listen to Mike more.
Thank you for mentioning the bridge pickup (8:50ish). Great point. This is the difference between who I am and who I want to be as a guitarist. Subscribing now. Always loved your videos, and your playing, but now will do something about it.
Thanks Jack! Usually your lessons are a bit over my head, but I have been trying to pick up some Bloomfield and BB tunes from RUclips and this breakdown explains better what to look for and how to finger some of these classic licks. You just got a new patreon…. Now I need to find a tip for how to vibrato a bent note. You guys make it look like nothing.
Ridiculously awesome as usual, sir! I appreciate your efforts to show us guitar players taste. I am dubious it can be actually taught, instead of being just a gift from God, but you do the most incredible job of anyone in that effort. Thank you for sharing, Jack
Great lesson Jack, as always. Thanks. I play a 335 and an LP too and I must say your tone is stunning. Could I ask what overdrive pedal are you using please ? Your tone is always perfect. Thanks.
Thank you, Jack. I have five of your courses with Truefire and Brett Papa, all of them are excellent. Also, is that a Les Paul Standard 60s with the knobs of the 50s? I’m asking because that’s what I did with mine. Regards, Gaetano
Thank you! This is pure Mike Bloomfield style like in The Live Adventures Of Mike Bloomfield & Al Kooper. ruclips.net/video/D2JuQqaa1IA/видео.html He was my hero back in 1969. Man, you kids are lucky today. We had to listen to records a thousand times.
Hey Jack, I am running into the same issue that I already complained about. After paying to join your Patreon page. The problem is simple...how can I find the tab on your page for this lesson?? I cant find it anywhere?? The last time this happened for a different lesson, someone ( I assuming one of your assistants) emailed me some tabs, but they emailed me the wrong tabs. I am really not a complainer normally, but I need some help to figure this out otherwise I will have to leave your page.
Open the patreon page, click on collections, go to ‘studying the greats.’ Scroll down and it’s there. About 14 post down. It’s tiled ‘slow blues solo.’ Right there with the video of the solo performance.
I'm not really a blues guy. That first major riff sounds really odd/off to me. Is this just a lack of familiarity? SRV would be my primary blues reference point.
BB would be proud, brother!! THIS is what so many young "shredders" don't get. Music needs space to breathe. That's what separates the good from the great. The space between and knowing where to put it. Brilliant stuff.
Yup, shredders are boring.

Thank you for mentioning Mike Bloomfield! He is so underrated

Very tasty Jack and soul full
Those Bloomfield signature Les Pauls are super rare and pricey these days. I kick myself for not getting one back when they were released.
Nice !
Simple & Tasty....thanks!

Hey Jack, tu as oublié de répondre à ma question, à savoir quel est le modèle de 335 avec lequel tu joue sur la vidéo et l'année s'il te plaît ?
Hi, thank you for sharing. I wanted to ask you about the ox box, are you satisfied with it❤
I hear 'I wonder Who' from the Al Kooper sessions here
more Bloomfield pls!
Thank you, Jack. I have five of your courses with Truefire and Brett Papa, all of them are excellent. Also, is that a Les Paul Standard 60s with the knobs of the 50s? I’m asking because that’s what I did with mine. Regards, Gaetano
Great lesson, do you keep the Burstbuckers or have moved to Custombuckers?
Jack I am curious to know what your string gauges are.
👏👏👏👏
Hi Jack, can't find the tabs and backing track for this solo un patreon? when will it be up?
Is ‘funny b’ not just the c shape?

Hey Jack how I can get only one of your tabs in this case this one, can I do that for now, will be $5.00 is that correct ?

Music theorists.. just like mathematicians and engineers.. they create a “formula” for something people already did that just worked.
Tasty Licks... 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
