Ahh, this probably means it has leaked an acid has got between the wall and the battery. If you can get the end screw cap off, use another battery and tap it out with a rubber mallet. Otherwise 'gently' squeeze the battery case in a vise on opposing axes to break the seal (a few times, but be gently so you don't deform the case, then twist the battery out. Failing that, spray some WD40 in the gap to loosen it up, then hold the battery hold in a vise and use a screw drive to tap the battery to rotate the battery in the case and slowly get it out.
