Salut,
Alex
It's alive! (wait, you cleaned it first right?)
bit of machine oil never hurt anybody, right?
This Old Tony i eat machine oil and chips on a daily basis lol and im still alive after 20 years. The way i figure the oil is good for the heart and liver , etc. And for the chips the way i see it is its like running a brillo pad through your kidneys and cleans every lil hard to reach area. So people live a lil and take a squirt or two of WD40 it will keep the insides running smooth.
Just wanted to say cheers Tony for introducing me to this channel a while back!
@carlyoung123 You sound like quite the character, lol. I love it. Wish I could say the same about the non-stick medical coating I sprayed for five years. Pretty damn sure it permanently dulled my sense of smell, definitely wouldn't recommend eating it. I shoulda been a machinist.
Sure. I regularly use WD-40 as salad dressing.
I subscribed here after TOT's recommendation and have not been disappointed. You display the same ideas that humour, knowledge and interest are key to making an engaging video.
Yes, too bad he’s French. Signed, le petit Belge. 😂
same here ... this my first cooking channel subscribtion and i am not dissapointed !
thank you Tony
yep, me too

Alex, when I worked in a pizza parlor that used a mechanical pizza roller, we used rice flour to keep the dough from sticking, as it doesn’t absorb the moisture. It works better than corn starch, and we just dusted the dough before putting it through the rollers. This may solve your problem, and the rice flour would better fit the flavor profile of ramen than corn starch.
So good!! 🎉🙏
Alec Steele 🙏
you guys should make a collab as well ! after the amazing chef's knife, what to do next ?
Marin grisard They have! Alec made a meat tenderizer and Alex made steak if I remember correctly.
Alec Steele congrats for 10^6 subs
@@maringrisard5124 make a damascus steel knife out of old knifes.
I recently got into Tony's work, it's hilarious and amazing to watch him work...! I've watched tens of his videos over the last few weeks. I recommend to everyone!😁👍
+1 Maybe my favorite channel right now. I found Tony a few months ago, this is how I found Alex.
definitely its an mazing channel i always enjoy watching his work
I'm a long time Tony fan now I found also a fan of Alex "Cool".
I have never been this interested in Pasta machines in my life.
How you dare
Easiest way to spot an engineer, show a blueprint and you'll see that little smile soon enough
Even I filled with glee at the exploded diagram and I'm a biologist.
As a mech engineering student I’ve been watching This Old Tony for a long time now. And as a culinary arts fan, Alex’s vídeos are the best, no doubt.
On a beautiful morning I was watching “that” old Tony’s latest video and he received a package from Alex; I went like: “THE BEST CROSSOVER E V E R!!!”
As another ME student, I also agree with this statement..
Please keep this collaboration alive. This pasta machine needs to be perfected.
Two masters of their fields coming together to create the ultimate noodle maker. Bravo gentlemen, bravo. 👊👊👊
The best Collab on RUclips. Love both of you guys ^_°
The reason I love this channel so much and why I think it is much different than most is you take the time to break things down, you pay attention to every little detail not just in what you cook or what you do but also in the production and editing in the videos themselves. One of the best channels on RUclips!
I am glad you sent it to This Old Tony because that is what got me watching You.
I enjoy youtube colabs like this, this one has been especially interesting having worked as a professional cook for 20 years along with voc school for welding/fabrication with 1 year in the field coupled with heavy interest in learning machining and being a diy junky. I also love making pasta! Me and my girl make raviolis for christmas presents. Our home kitchen becomes a ravioli factory for the better part of a week around xmas time! I gotta say, the old atlas 150 hand cranker has suited us well but that machine is a work of art! That ramen too. This series checks so many boxes. Well done!
Stumbled on OldTony's video a couple of days ago and was waiting for this! His video was a truly masterpiece!

This Old Tony.....Genius Stroke both of you!
This Old Tony's video on rebuilding your pasta machine is how I found your channel. Now I have more videos on a new fun channel to watch.
Glad to see you get it back. I've been waiting for this.
I've been sooo waiting for this video! Tony did such a great job on this!
I've been waiting for this video for quite a while. Came here from ToT, and the way you do things I'll probably be staying for quite a long time. The other week I made Lasagne with your recipe from the 10 chef skills video, and boy that was probably the best I've ever had. Adapting was by far the most useful, because I had a vegetarian at the table, so that obviously posed a difficulty, but it still came out amazing. Thanks for your videos, you're pretty much the only channel on RUclips which made me want to cook something, so keep up the good work!
I would love if you and ThisOldTony could mass produce this!
something so incredibly charming not just about the editing and everything, but also just alex as a person
Cue angelic voices and sun peeking through virgin white clouds. Behold the This Old Tony pasta machine of the gods!
Your ramen series is the whole reason I started following you. Mostly because I’m obsessed with ramen, but this is not the point. I have decided to start my own ramen journey! Thank you for inspiring me to continue to love food and see it from a scientific as well as creative perspective.
First ThisOldTony I saw was the one where he made springs and spirals. I coughed my screen full of coffee a few times before I got the hang of it. Then I had to watch it again to see if I had missed some jokes especially in the beginning. Then I had to watch it again to get the springs and spirals content down hahaha! Superb channel! :D
ThisOldTony's video rebuilding this is what directed me to your channel! Thanks, Tony!
Beeen waiting for THIS video for weeeks! FINALY! JUST AS GOOD AS I EXPECTED!
I have been waiting for this video for ages, came here for this old Tony’s channel, love the videos you make
Been waiting. To see if you liked it. This Old Tony gear is rare and expensive state side. He is a national treasure after all
Jim
Where has he been all my life? As an avid follower of various engineering & machining channels I'm surprised I was introduced to Tony through a cooking channel.
I thought he didn’t live in the US?
He lives in North America I assume... Unless you have any evidence to the contrary.
Err the evidence presented suggests he lives in a southern part of Europe. I will not be more specific due to courtesy. Although given his accent I suspect he may hail from the north american continent originally.
Ah OK. I did consider going through all his videos and looking at the electric outlets but you've saved me the effort. I did see a 230V appliance but one can't make an assumption based on a single appliance's voltage rating.
Been watching both of your channels since the start, this collaboration was just waiting to happen and I love it. Thank you guys.
I've been following Tony for years and found your wonderful channel through him. Saw the pasta machine build and couldn't wait to see your unboxing video! So much fun!
Would wax paper help? Maybe a second roller to feed the paper automatically between the layers. Just a thought. Keep up the good work!
It's appropriate that this is classified as entertainment. Your vids are educational, but they're also quite entertaining. It's taken me about 2 dozen vids to recognize your flavor of humor. It's been worth the wait. Nicely done, sir! I hunger for more content.
Genuinely a work of art...love the personalized engraving, so cool! Truly a skilled artisan. Also-hope you've balanced your vitamin B!
Another great video-merci!
So good. So glad I popped over to check out this channel (from This Old Tony). I've really been enjoying it immensely. Glad to see the pasta machine working away! Kudos!
This old Tony has a new subscriber
of all the RUclips content creators I follow I never would have guessed that you two would get together for a collaboration. It was brilliant, and some of my favorite RUclips content ever. Thank you!
Alex! How about a dusting feeder that's mounted across the feed ramp or above the roller and is shaken slightly with every movement of the cog teeth?😊
Michael Berthelsen Like those old flour sifters that scraped a wire across a mesh screen when the handle was turned, but horizontal and directly geared to the feed mechanism. 🤔 That just might work!
My suggestion exactly, only you said it better. :)
Michael Berthelsen that's kind of what I was thinking might make it a bit cumbersome though
That main toothed gear is large enough to slave to. It could provide the turn to a removable dusting attachment, perhaps with a oscillating plate that does the same as a wire on mesh. Kinda like the trimmer on the back of a electric shaver. The slaved gear could be made to snap back, disengaging the function when not needed, like during initial dough loading to start and at the finish.
Given the number of times he would be re-rolling the same lump of dough, adding corn starch to it every pass is probably not the best solution. I would add a second fork to the front side of the take-up roller mechanism, so that a roll of wax paper could be mounted. Then you just pull the first layer of dough over the wooden roller and pull wax paper over it, the rest of the wax paper would wind itself in between the layers of dough as you go. If you wanted to go wild, you could add a wax paper collection roll to the supply side roll mount, and wind up the paper for reuse as you pull the dough off the back roller. No waste, and no added ingredients to the pasta. Put on a motor and a couple of feed fingers, and you've got an industrial grade automated pasta machine :)
I'm sure T.O.T. could bang out the design easily, but if someone wants to email me the cad file I could redesign the plastic liners and feed chute for the new parts in about 20 minutes. Tony wanted to redo the liners anyway do to the material related errors he had in production.
Thisoldtony did a great job, love his channel
I was introduced to this channel by TOT, and I wasn't disappointed
Actually watched the video from this old Tony and was waiting for this video for a couple weeks now. So glad that it arrived safely!
same I was just sat waiting
This old Tony is a legend!!
Alex your videos are like a drug, I’ve binged through your backlog, and now I check my subs every day just waiting. Keep up the good work man, your humor and skills are on point.
i love you french man
great name
Been subscribed to both channels for a while but I never knew how badly I needed this collaboration.
I would love to buy one of those machines. You should do a fundraiser...
I´m happy that you found This Old Tony. He´s a god among men and RUclips, the best humor, camera excellence, editing beyond normal powers of mortals, vast knowledge of everything technical-mechanical and so on, machining master-skills. He should of course be given a +100 mill dollar\year contract with any TV station of his liking.
After making 2400 servings of pasta you will have spent on the machine the same time TOT did!
Alex thanks for getting me thru quarantine. I'm an American expat living in Paris now. I had to comment though, the most French thing about this video is you having this beautiful new amazing pasta machine, but still find something about it to complain about 😂😂😂 thanks and keep the videos coming.
that pasta machine is a thing of beauty!!!!!!!
I found you through his video... And I proceeded to binge you're entire catalogue. I'm so happy to finally see you use it.
I would just like to say that if you and This Old Tony collaborate on version #2 of a pasta machine, please sell it on Kickstarter or something! It'll sell like hot cakes.
(also please make a hot cakes cooking video, haha)
Yes please. I need this
I have been a follower of TOT for some time now. A very sharp machinist, also makes terrific videos! I subscribed here after TOT's recommendation and have not been disappointed. I have been binge watching FGC since TOT rebuilt the machine. Both you guys ROCK!!
What if you were to put some baking paper or foil on top of the pasta as you are winding it around the wooden rollers so that it doesn't stick to itself? You would probably be able to recycle them and only have to make a couple.
Ok, I must be getting in touch with some deep stuff here. I shed tears when you opened the box. This Old Tony and Alex are the life juice of RUclips! Love you!
you guys should sell a line of those things
Jenni Anchors Would buy/10
that's what I think - they should go into business together
Would buy.
I'm in for one of them too!
None of you would buy one. There would be way to much work going into one of those for them to have any reasonable price for a pasta machine.
I'm a big fan of both channels. I already saw the video on his channel but still, this is amazing.
Are you selling these? I need this in my life. Or does tony sell them?
You guys are both great at what you do, I have enjoyed both of you guy's channels and now a collaboration! Such a treat
I want one!!
Been waiting for this one, TOT did an amazing job.
The fact that you kept quiet about this makes me wonder if you make a knife with Alec Steele and didn't show us ...
Alec did just finish a series on a chef knife. Would not be surprised if it were meant for Alex
I loved the meat tenderizer they did together
ruclips.net/video/RN-SL7arvIU/видео.html
This Old Tony is how I found this channel... Glad I did, great collaboration guys!
I have a question. I can't use any type of alcohol in cooking for religious purposes. What can i replace wine for deglazing
pig gelatine
xhogan89x lol I'm guessing he's a Muslim so that also won't work 😄
A soft vinegar?
anything acid actually
Lemon juice or just water
Finally. Alex, I found you when I watched This Old Tony’s pasta build.
Big thanks to both of you.
NOTI SQUAD!!!
I can't believe I only recently found Tony's channel through Alex, as a long time subscriber to AvE. Anyway I've enjoyed going through his videos, he's got some pretty unorthodox methods of cutting metal stock. And I've learned a lot about making tools, even though it's going to be many years before I have my own machine shop.
Also I couldn't stop smiling watching this video.
didn't bother me at all but for the future mockup is pronounced mah cup not moe cup. I know you probably work on it a ton and it's really grating to have someone correct you but I thought if no one does then you never know.
Alan Ball that’s just how he pronounces his o’s
Alan Ball I think he was saying mock-up not mark-up
/ˈmɒk ʌp/ or /ˈmɑːk ʌp/ and even then the US has more than one way
I can't read IPA v_v. I thought there was only one way to pronounce it. I've never heard anyone pronounce it as "Moe cup". What region pronounces it as "moe cup"?
Seems a little strange of you to be correcting him on a word when you dont even know the word can be pronounced another way and cant read IPA
Yes. LOVE this video and found a great machining channel. I was salivating at the sight of that bowl of noodles.
I've been waiting for this since seeing TOT's video on how he made it!
i love this channel, its like youre a super saiyan with your progression, starting out with little and having come so far aswell as seeing how much your skills and your arsenal of tools and knowledge has grown
I found this channel via ToT's Pasta machine upgrade video, and I'm so pleased! You both share the same zany off the wall sense of humour that I really adore, and keeps me coming back time and time gain :P
Happy for you🙌 it's so cool what have you done in collab with Tony!
I just love how the RUclips creator community seems to come together in Alex's videos. It's just awesome to see.
I was waiting for this! Tony did an excellent job with the pasta machine. Kudos to both of you.
I've been waiting for this video for a long time. So happy to see the pasta maker come to life. Have a very tasty Ramen!!!
Just went to This Old Tony and subbed, incredible what he accomplished.
BTW watch Tony's vid on Alex Pasta Machine hilarious and informative!
I came to your channel from Tony's. Both your channels do a great job of blending learning and humor. You've made me want to try making my own ramen.
Finally! :-D I discovered you weeks ago when This Old Tony built that pasta machine and told us to check out your channel. I have been eager to see you use it ever since.
I was waiting so much for this video! The Old Tony did a GREAT job!
Fantastic collab. Tony's video was amazing too. You guys rock.
A thing of beauty is a joy for ever! Great collab, I really like the engineering behind it :)
Finally, I've been waiting for this video!! There is always room for improvement( the Pasta machine). Good Luck Alex.
I can't believe the ramen series is still going 😁 Also thats the coolest kitchen gadget anyone could ever own. Stay awesome. Cant wait for part 2
I saw the pasta machine video on ToT's channel (I just found his channel a couple weeks ago so I have been watching random videos). I came here and love your video style. Subbed.
Im a hobby machinist too but old Tony is the real master of ceremony... This guy is really good in metal and a good teacher as well he made me starting with the metal hobby and now i have a room full of machinery and equipment for a lot of euros 😎
Good guy...
Alex, pour the corn starch onto the dough in the bottom of the U shape after it leaves the metal rollers and before it goes up to the wooden roller. It'll tumble around in there and eventually pour out both ends, but you'll definitely get a good coating and will only have to refill it every now and then.
Watched a short video called "The Rolls Royce of Ramen Noodles". 7 seconds into the video you can see a device sprinkling flour or starch onto the rolling sheets of dough. Probably from a container with an internal roller. Always love your videos.
Longarm quilting frames may hold a answer to the gravity feed issues. Basically, they are designed to manage three separate rolls of wide material onto one roll as the layers are stitched together. I'm seeing a removable bracket holding a roll of parchment or wax paper mounted just forward of the front wooden roller. A small tensioning spring and knob wouldn't be amiss. When you want to store the pasta, pull a piece of parchment to the dough as it starts to feed onto the storage dowel. Once all the pasta has been fed, simply slice off the parchment with scissors, knife, or razor blade (a integrated cutter might also be possible). Viola! Let me know if this turns on any lights... Salut.
Also I love that it has come full circle, you new machine looks amazing!
One of the common ways to achieving the crinkle in the noodles that you see in Ramen is to dust/cover the noodles heavily after portioning to keep them from sticking then you just ball them up and squeeze in your hands (with a decent amount of force too). The noodles keep the bent shapes and cook just great. This was taught to me from a japanese noodle machine manufacturer. Don't forget to shake off the excess starch/flour afterwards.
Alex, immediately after your video, I hopped over to watch Tony making this amazing machine for you. Two great artisans!
I actually discovered your channel through that video! It’s a nice French-American pairing
Have to say, been looking forward to this video. Saw Tonys video first and it looked really nice, followed link to u, and learn how to make that killer lasagna for my wife. She loved it soo much we couldn’t walk for few hours afterwards. Looking forwards to see how u will modify the machine further for betterment. Tiny is great, u r great! Salut!
as always, great cooking, great editing, great soundtracks, and thank to introduce this great guy Tony
the out feed pickup roller on top an ideas I see is make the pegs that run in the rabbit ears off center so they wobble quite a bit, and a bag of corn starch or flour attached to the frame and as the wood roller processes it picks up either cornstarch or flour to prevent sticking. The bag would have to lightly touch at the high side of the roller to dispense its contents.
you both made nice videos on the new result, I see why you support each other's channels. I subbed intstantly after I saw the montage with those tapping feet! He's a fun host and so far I did learn how to construct a pasta maker myself. keep up the fun content bro, cheers.
Best cooking channel on youtube. hands down!
The taste test! I made my first ever batch of egg pasta lasta week... so good! Where have you been all my life?
Oh Alex, cheers! You are pretty cool too! And TOT? We go waaay back! We both played time machines with Stefan
But yeah. Love love LOVE the machine, even better seeing it working!
Been looking forward to this side of the collab for a few weeks now! Awesome job tony, I know you're lurking down here!
Love this channel, was a T.O.T subscriber and found Alex with the "Pasta Machine" episode.... both are amazing THANKS!
