Awesome! Definitely two of the best harmonizing voices to ever play music together in my opinion! This chick is so damn talented it’s insane! Thank y’all for all the great music Gillian! Touches deep in the soul for sure!!! GodBless!!!
Am I nuts or is Gillian the most under appreciated songwriter of her generation?
I agree Liz...but doesn’t David’s guitar accompaniment lend some much - the stuff he plays mid-song is just beautiful. The two of them are...wonde4ul!
well, you and i are here and appreciate her plenty...so she has that goin' for her! what more could girl ask for? and dave rawlings ain't chopped liver...he gots some serious chops and has found his genre
Always been a fan from the 1st time I heard her sing!
shes underrated, sadly, but: she s in the same liga like e. harris, nanci griffith and all the other big ladies of country and folk. for me: the queen of american folk/country, love her !!!!
I think the answers are; YES!!!! and Quite possibly.
These two are every bit as accomplished and extraordinary as the Beatles. Their covers are awesome and their originals, extraordinary.
the beatles are crap
Can’t believe I’ve only now found this team. Awesomeness !! Now one of my absolute favorites of of folk music. Working at making my Artists Books and Print Making. Wow wow wow. I’m in Heaven. 🌹🥰
yeah.............it's hard to find words for how this music warms my heart and lifts my spirit. I appreciate this duo more and more over time.

This is a national treasure.
I'm completely in love with this woman
simply wonderful
I must have listened to this about 15 times in the past 3 months since discovering it. It is truly amazing
1997 pelahatchie mississippi I miss you Laurie Erwin of Hattiesburg. I went off to fight for 13 years of my life thinking about you.
Can't Get more Americana ! than this, !!!
Was in love with Gillian after two chords!
I have worshipped these two for over 25 years. I have all the CD's and a poster autographed by Gillian...
oh, youre lucky. i have all their music, but sadly never saw them live, cos im from germany, and i wished i had something from gillian. love her
Quit braggin Owl🦉🐸
These musicians are “ top shelf”. Always a joy to see and hear them.
I first heard this duo in 1996 on "Progressive Torch and Twang", a weekly program on MSU student radio 89FM. The song was "Orphan Girl". That was all it took. I became a fan. I never tire of the purity of their harmony and the texture created by Gillian's strumming and David's creative melodic picking. Two voices; two instruments; pure music.
You described them perfectly. I 💯 agree.
Back in 1996 I wrote a letter to Gillian and said they should record a song a-capella. Glad to hear it 24 years later on this Bright Morning Stars. (She did respond back then, on type written page: "Maybe there is some a-capella in our future.")
they did a trio one as well, "wind and rain" with david something steele i think.
been said before.. But they are bringing the roots back again to music , reall music and they are not even trying... its just the way it should be ... and its what is missing in the music industry today , Just showes what two people can do, believing in what they do .. Its a powerfull thing that you just can`t fake ,, by being reall and feeling each others love in pure music... and we get the rewards ... WOW ! Thank you .. the fires not burnt out yet !!!!!!
31:46 It's so fun to hear their harmonies with such clarity. Intricate. Delicate. Perfect. I love these two.
Superb bless you all …. Brilliant voice 👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️
Voices! Harmony done so well you don't even notice it.
The night came undone like a party dress and fell at her feet in beautiful mess. It's visual and superb isn't it?
Yes Yes Yes
Magnificent ………
I don’t care that she’s 32 years older than me, I love her and would marry her.
no, i marry her !!! (joke). but: i love her and her beautiful voice and music !! have all her albums with d. rawlings
😁❤️
The queue,s a hundred miles long and your 'e at the rear pal. ha ha .My Irish buddy said that to me when I first clapped eyes on herself Kathryn Tickell. ....
I live in germany and i can't remember, when i heart the voice of Gillian for the first time. I guess, it happens couse of the movie of the coen brothers (oh brother,...).Thince than, she is in my mind like Bob. I brought all office records including this three records in a box. If they play in europe one time, I will go, don't matter where.
Little funny Story near by:
A couple of years ago, i played Gillian for breakfast music in our little place at bottle beach. I dutch girl came in and couldn't beleave, that someone here has know her. Of course, we were friends after talking about Gillian.
I think, you could here at RUclips.
Her artname Gitta van Ridden (not quote shure).
After that Meeting i startet to read her lyrics more intensiv. I love, how she and dave touches my heart and soul. They are best
blest😉
Great recording, true to the place and represents the artists well in that setting.
Wow. These musicians are some of the world's best. Gods! Because of their relative obscurity I got to hear them in Phoenix in the Orpheum last year. One of my best experiences in my life. PHX never gets good music. Except for them.
She is beyond all the rest
I love the way they participate in and contribute to the community of great musical tradition by playing other artists' work of the past as well as their own fine songs.
they are the masters of covers. i discovered radiohead (black star) through them, hilarious i know.
Not enough is said about Dave. The guy is a virtuoso.
i cry and feel
Hope you have cried since then.
Thanks for uploading
Saw them in Cheraw, SC, back in 1996. Still have my ticket.
One of the finest shows i ever attended
Amazing songwriter and singer!!!
They are brilliant 👏
How can we thank you for that? Perfection
well, thats REAL Music, for heart and soul. you can hear it a 1000 times and you say never "enough". a perfect duo, fitting perfectly together, like caleb klauder and reeb willms
best version of Tennessee Stud I have ever heard...
I have a crush on gillian welch.
Thanks for the song list Darth!
So much sincerity in her eyes
awesome! thank you!
So good.
As a songwriter she is on a frozen rope to the stature of Joni Mitchell.
more amazing songs if no "amelia or furry sings the blues". dave and gillian's catalog ='s hunter garcia and surpasses all but dylan and the beatles and perhaps neil young.

Is this on an album? I thought I had all her stuff...
David Moore Nope! It's a bootleg.
Yeah? Do you have a copy?
David Moore It can be downloaded in mp3 or FLAC here! spontaneouswednesday.blogspot.com/2010/12/acoustic-stage.html?m=1
I see Spontaneous Wednesday has slowed down...are there any groups of GW bootleg collectors?
@@DarthPraxus27 these downloads have apparently been disabled, probably by Gillian's lawyers? Ever hear the song Everything Is Free ? Maybe you can remove this address from your post here.
I do appreciate being able to listen to this on RUclips, but does Gillian & Dave approve? Anyone ask them? Hasn't anyone heard "Everything Is Free" ? Has the message of that song escaped you? Jesus Christ.
The other side of the coin is exposure. I discovered them on RUclips and have since bought three albums and plan to buy them all.
Perhaps they were asked permission. The Grateful Dead was the biggest grossing rock group in history, largely because they encouraged free sharing, and recording, of all their music.
i asked dave about this after hardly stricly bluegrass, he laughed and said do not worry. I was fretting over odds and ends as bootleg.
they are doing more than fine.
but your sensitivity would warm gil's heart no doubt.
Yet here you are listening along with the rest of us. If any RUclips rules are being broken it would be taken down at their request. Listen and enjoy.
