Enjoyed your video , two of us rode St James from homestead to homestead in a beautiful autumn day , wow it would have to be one of the most awesome trails I've riden . Probably should have stayed in one of the beaten up huts one night to slow the ride down, next time we will do the Fowlers Pass loop and stay a couple of nights. Thanks for sharing Dave love this part of the country.
I'll be riding it again in February for the 5th time with my sister & a friend. I think it's a highly underrated trail. I've ridden OGR, Heaphy etc, but I keep coming back to St James, year after year.
Definitely doable on a non ebike. I've done it 2 or 3 times in a non ebike. You just have to do more hikeabike. Friends have done the homestead loop in a day, I've done it as Dave & I did with the one night at Lake Gayon. Another time my wife Sue was with us so we stayed a night at Lake Guy on & a night at Pool hut. We had a shuttle to the start of the track & got picked up at the end. To do it on a non ebike from Hamner your looking at 120km, so for me at least 2 nights, but then, I'm old. It's one of the most underrated tracks. We've done the Old Ghost Rd on non ebikes, & I'd do the St James for the 4th or 5th time in preference. I just love that open high country. I'll do it again this summer for sure, taking 2 nights & doing more fishing. Enjoy.

@@backcountryridingfriends 100% agree
awesome footage, do you reckon that is doable in non E-bikes? and how long did it take you? Cheers!
