I've been eating this for over 30 years. this was a favorite of mine as a teenager from the China Palace a fantastic Chinese restaurant that overlooked the beach in Newport CA. I've made a couple versions over the years but this one seems to be the best flavor which is meant to be savory and sweet. That restaurant also had another version that was savory leaving out the condensed milk and honey.. that one was also fanrastic and served with snow peas. thanks for sharing..

I tried this and everyone loved it. I saved a lot of time by just roasting the walnuts then mixing them in with the dressing and shrimps. I just had to make a little more dressing to compensate the walnuts being included in the coating.

You can use less sugar and condensed milk. I have not tried a spicy version of this dish. Next time I'll add a drop of hot sauce to a piece to try it.
