Very happy with my Shockworks coilovers for my JZZ30 Soarer 1j.. Chris did a great job fitting and road tuning them around the hills in Melbourne. I was so pleasantly surprised, they ride so smoothly, but also handle when needed.
If you don't mind answering; what'd they run you? looking into a set but I can't find much info on pricing.
@@dyIanVII $1800. The dampers are 12-stage adjustable and offer a wide range of adjustment. On the back, I've got full hard selected, full soft on the front. Well worth it for the money.
@@jrbuch That's not bad at all, I was expecting more along the lines of 2K+ given the price of ohlins, higher end MCAs etc, will have to hit them up, appreciate it 🤙
Nice, I put silvers coilovers on my RZ34. Night and day difference.
56 seconds at Luddenham?
My 50kw D16 civic does 57sec with just coilovers 😂
Perfect stance with manners the car should have had from factory. But always fun to set it up the way you need to
Perfect direction to go, bringing coilovers to the Z to match the good engine. I think extra stiffness all round and stronger sway bars should make it more balanced on track.
106 oil temp is just called life in an LS.
I don't know where he was going with that. 130C is plenty safe for oil temp.
@@papatonys exactly!!
Mobil say their synthetic oil is happy at temperatures up to 260 degrees C.
Please Please PLEASE do a follow up video when the ECU traction control issues are sorted. I can't wait to see what's next for this car. Any plans to address the overheating issues, maybe upgraded heat exchanger and oil cooler?
Wow she's a handful for sure on the track.
Car sounds great! Hopefully you address cooling next. I remember you running extensive turbo tests, stock vs twin vs single. Would it be possible to review stock air to water vs upgraded air to water vs air to air.
What were the F&R spring rates they gave you? The Z needs a stiffer front end to reduce the body roll causing the push. MCA use a 14-17kg (cant remember exactly) up front stock sway bar. On my 370z i run 10kg swift spring and koni yellow with whiteline sway bar up front on soft setting (has 2). Shock set to 75% firm up front. Anything less and turn in not as sharp. Setup for street Targa. 0 understeer
While I can appreciate a good head camera it definitely tells us a different story. As you lean your head into a turn if imitates body lean or roll to the viewer. I would have loved to be chassis mounted so we can see exactly what the car is doing 🤙🏽
Factory suspension probably tailored towards better roads as well. Our roads aren't the greatest, even sandown raceway had lots of bumps that required better rebound and softer suspension. I have my Teins modified by shockworks to accomodate our roads.
Would a set of sway bars help the circuit problem without changing coilovers?
Potentially, yes
Nice to see the development of the Z coming along.
Epic laps on the track.
Maybe could have winded the car out a little bit more through the rev range.
Either way epic video
Power falls over. No need to rev harder and often better to short shift and use the torque
What’s the cost? I’m waiting for my preorder Z and now second guessing myself whether I should rather get something that might not need the work, like BMW m240i
First session cut short by an incident on track? But it looks like you were the only car out there. Oh... !! :)
Q50 with the same engine has a big issue with the rear differential after lowering the car. The differential is just cracking. Interesting about Z... let's see
Are you saying my OEM suspension isn't a DRAG PACK ? Cause it squats on launch and points to the moon.Supras have to buy aftermarket to get this kind of weight transfer.
How warm was the air temp on the day? With suspension handling didn't seem that good. Was there a proper alignment done? Is 106 oil temp bad? the hot hatches run up to 127 degrees.
My Z goes in to Chris on Tuesday. 😁
I have to be honest, I kind of expected better results.
Looks good!
too much jacking? causing front understeer / rear oversteer?
Looked like it was just understeering, too much tyre pressure? Missing every apex.💩
I can barely afford to eat! What’s a car ride like? What’s car?😅
Yesss
Squatting isn’t beneficial for drag racing. You want the rear suspension to extend on throttle to drive the tires down into the pavement.
The car has IRS. Weight transfer to the rear is exactly what you want.
@@MotiveVideo I think experienced drag racers would argue that.
@@SylasG You mean like CRD and us? It has IRS, not a 4-link drag set-up.
Yikes that's alot slower than the 86 with wheels.....
Is what it is. Zed is far from being a track car out of the box. More a GT cruiser
Lol people have way too high expectations.
Throw a stock s13, s14, s15 around the same circuit and it'll be way slower.. Point is this is or should be the new easy to mod street car for easy power.
@@Nick-sd7um they are selling for over $100,000 here in Perth I think sombody at Nissan headquarters is dreaming

It's like you live in a different world. I had never heard of Shockworks because I live in the States.
Understeer and screeching tyres, the sound of disappointment.
You sure you want squat when drag racing?
Weight transfer to rear wheels.
It is a RWD
@@MotiveVideo I get the weight transfer part, you can achieve that with 90/10 valving on the front. If you are trying to squat, you are wasting energy. The wheels are not pressing down, they are more trying to move away from the road.
@@MotiveVideo Properly set up drag cars have rear suspension geometry that extends on throttle to drive the tires down into the ground. Nobody wants squat anymore.
@@yourmotherlovesit back in the day people thought weight transfer and squat was good, but now they’ve realized that a rear suspension extension is even better.
@@SylasG Yeah I get it, back in the actual day 60s/70s etc they knew squat was bad.
