Hey David … It’s been a year …. Curious to know how it sounds now…. I could hear a bit of a bite on two notes, but for that price, overall, it sounded darn good. But we both also know that any company is going to send one of their most “in tune pans” they can find because they know it’s going to be reviewed and heard by many. The proven problem with a lot of the mass produced China (or like) pans, is the stability issue….. they just don’t stay in tune and tuners don’t particularly want to retune them. Because of how they’re built, they can’t guarantee the retune will last. But dude …. Gotta say …you made this one sound good!! Nice playing! How about an update now? 🤗🛸🎶🦋
Yes, that's different and difficult, as a handpan in 432Hz is not in tune with the majority of music. And, you can't play handpan with someone else, nor in a music group. Only, if that type of Hz is asked for, maybe. But very rare. Be it classical, modern, jazz, pop, etc., alas, that's most of times in 440Hz. Which is not natural at all, nor as soothing as other type of Hz's. But, the worldwide music lobbies chose for 440Hz!! I suppose gouvernements are behind that... Long story... You can use yours for relaxation, meditation, and yoga, and even hypnosis. It's perfectly suited for all that. Which a 440Hz isn't. Tutorials are around now, for 432Hz pans. I hope that's made things clearer. Take care.
I've had mine for a long time and I always thought it was my striking technique.... I'm starting to wonder if it's the pan itself. I've been practicing for a long time.
@@victorspaw2k Over time most handpans will detune some with either excessively hard strikes or playing style or hard playing over time. If it gets bumped by accident where besides China can you get it retuned. I would love to try one of their pans for the price.
The Gu hole is really tiny. So retuning might be almost impossible as the tuner can't reach on the inside. And the sound.. Hmm. This might be okay for 600 bucks but it's not a high quality handpan, sorry.
was thinking about getting one. im not musically inclined but love the sound. i was looking at the AS TEMAN Handpan Stars 10 Notes D but made in china? but its like, everything is made in china. i want good one but not go broke getting one.
Hello @DavidUrbanHandpan! On your recommendation, I have purchased one of their handpans. I'm super excited! But I've received no response from them other than the order confirmation. Do you have suggestions for how to get hold of them to find out a status? Thank you!
Sorry folks, I totally missed your replies!! YES! I did ultimately receive the handpan; just not a timely response by email! And I LOVE the handpan. Thank you, David, for the video - it did help me make my decision. I'm glad I did. Everyone else; I hope you folks had the same results!
Question, did your online purchase go OK from as teman? I've ordered a AS TEMAN Handpan Performer 17 Notes D Minor Scale Hangdrum with gift set. Paid immediately and completed the order, got an order number, but no confirmation email! The next day got a very unprofessional email asking if I wanted my item as theyll not send it until i responded? Even though I had paid and they received the money!! I replied to their email, but it bounced back as no email existed? Bad start to my handpan experience 😪 its left me worried sick
@jimmlygoodness yes I bought a D Kurd 17 note from asthman Direct and received zero receipt from them as proof of purchase or order confirmation. Raised an online dispute via PayPal who were fast to act, As Teman then communicated and confirmed the item was on its way, I will give them 100% on effort as it arrived 7 days after considering china and that area were suffering horrendous flooding from a hurricane at the time. All the notes on top are OK, one note underneath is a bit off, but im super happy. 700£ is a bargain for a 17 note D Kurd and it's solid. I play 2 hours daily average and I've made 2 of my own tunes already 🙃. Thanks for asking. I've advised AsTeman to improve their communication and their service would be perfect if fixed.
@@MarkDerbyshiremoses I'm glad it turned out well! Wow, 17 notes...didn't even know they made those! Post a video sometime if you feel comfortable. Cheers and happy panning!

My opinion is my opinion. But you can hear it yourself and make your own conclusions if you like it or not. Thats the best i can do. I dont get cash, just instruments usually.
Hello David, I just ordered Low F Pygmy from Asteman and paid 1400 for it, I wonder how you bought the same $600. Actually, I ordered it 4 days ago before watching this video. I can see you posted yoir video 2 months ago and I feel as if I've been scammed by asteman.
You definitely were not scammed. I see where the confusion comes from. This scale is more expensive (1400) vs. the D-minor, which is 600 dollars. But the emphasis is on the build quality that this company provides. I will add an annotation to the video to make sure this is more obvious.
@David Urban thank you for your reply David but honestly you playing an F2 PYgmy and advertising the video that Asteman handpans are 600 is confusing to viewers. You should have played a D Minor so viewers would hear what they can expect what to get paying $600. Thank you though for your fast reply
@@DavidUrbanHandpan Must have been a sale, I guess then. I was tempted, but the timing isn't right for me financially. I really should be more responsible, lol.
To be honest it's a different instrument altogether. As a 'tongue drum" the volume is incredibly low compared to handpans. just keep that in mind. Plus it's a cheaper manufacturing process since they just need to cut holes in the steel, versus meticulous hammering of a handpan.
@LostCause36 … I have both … two completely different instruments … RAV Vast definitely “sturdier” but not necessarily made better. Both beautiful instruments … each having their own vibe, and their own time and place to be played…. 🛸🎶🦋
I ordered one , the iceage ,the thing was dead sounding , had nothing , all the notes were dull , unresponsive, no sustain , sent it back. Bad experience.
My friend had exactly same problem and no response from asteman. The material quality is very cheap and poor customer service. 🤔 I guess for those who want to get into the handpan world and can't afford a decent quality pan of $1500 plus it's a cheaper alternative to jump into.
Is there anyone else having issues with the response from them after you order? I have not received any notifications from them. When I tried to track by order it says that there is none but i took a screenshot right after I paid and it shows that the order was made. Plus I got charged on my debit card!
@@DavidUrbanHandpan Hey David! Thanks for responding! I have received the email confirmation that my order is being worked on, but still no luck trying to put the order code in the as teman website to show results, still showing as delivery status not available
