Love that groove. Winger is now way more progressive and very heavy and all members are more known for their talent and songwriting skills. The 80s was the 80s. As for the dancing and posing. It sold records.

Start to finish, one of the best. Where do you find musicians this day and age that could carry Winger's jock strap?

You guys look past the dancing, moves, etc but that's part of the draw. And that's 1988. People back then did not have a problem with it because the listeners were in their teens, too. All relative to the era and age at the time you lived it. Nobody had a problem with lyrics. We are too touchy on subjects these days, that's why you two step lightly on a gem of a tune.

I saw Winger in concert back in the day. My daughter and my niece won a contest for designing the best banner with art from one of their album covers. They got front row tickets and back stage passes. They also got several pictures with the band, which we still have. The guys were very nice to them , however they were invited on their bus which they did not do luckily , since my daughter was 13 and my niece was 17. We enjoyed the concert . They sounded great live. I agree that Reb was a fantastic guitar player. The other band playing with them was MR. Big who I was not familiar with, but I really thought they were good too. I know Kip Winger is still doing music, but it is much different now, he seems to have evolved since then.

Times were different back then, I'm not codoning it but there were a lot of songs back then about 17 year old girls, Ringo Starr even wrote a song about a 16 year old and no one batted an eye. Also, these guys knew that 16 and 17 year old girls bought the most records, I'm 62 now and I remember being that age and spending at least half of my babysitting money on music...lol. BTW, I went to see Kiss, Slaughter and Winger in 1990 just to get a close up of Kip Winger.

Semi-new to your channel, there's a very early song by ZZ Top called Francene (just 13)..(also anpther illegal taboo that's taken for granted is the that when marijuana still wasn't legal at either a federal or state level, it has been dropped and praised in pop music going back to the 1930's.) Ok, back to the song. Music-wise this holds up rather well for trend cliche. Two other 80s hair/glam metal pop-centric tunes that hold up rather well are "Midnite Maniac" by Krokus and "Shake Me" by Cinderella. If you haven't already dived into those, you'll both hopefully enjoy them.

Reb Beach is sometimes excluded or forgotten for a second when listing great rock players, but he's never underrated. It's always like, "Oh yeah Reb Beach, awesome."

Born in 1980, a lot of these bands were unfamiliar to me but as an avid listener and I guess fanatic, I listened to all these albums by all these bands. Winger was pretty talented. Lost amongst the crappy hair bands, they have a lot of good songs. Vocally, he's very good. The band is super talented.

Believe it or not, age of consent is under 18 for the majority of states in the US. Most states are 16 or 17.

"Reb" is an abbreviation of his full name, Robert Earl Beach.
Some more facts: Kip Winger and rhythm guitarist/keyboardist Paul Taylor were members of Alice Cooper's band prior to forming Winger. Drummer Rod Morgenstein was, and still is, the drummer for the jazz-fusion group, Dixie Dregs, featuring guitarist Steve Morse, who has been in Deep Purple since '94. Reb was a session guitarist prior to Winger, playing on albums by Chaka Khan, The Bee Gees, and Twisted Sister.

I always believed they all had real talent, and Kip's voice was second to none, without auto-tune. One of their songs that they wrote a few years ago, "better days coming" was used last year for a covid video, that people all around the world loved. and Reb Beach played for whitesnake too.

Winger is the most underrated band of all time . What a lot of people don't know is Kip Winger , Reb Beach & the drummer all played for Alice Cooper . They did at least 2 albums with Cooper & you have to be musically inclined to play with Cooper . He don't let just anyone play with him & Reb Beach also played for Dokken .

The 80s were a MUCH different time. It was no big deal back then for a 17 year old girl to be with an older guy. In the 80s I was 17 dating a 25 year old. Keep in mind at 17 I had already graduated high school, worked 2 jobs, had my own apartment and paid all my own bills. Seventeen in the 80s is probably equal (maturity wise) to 30 in 2023. 😂

We used to play this at school dances. No one batted an eye. I think teens had to grow up a lot faster back then, as compared to today, and 17 then wasn't really equivalent to 17 these days. It certainly hits different now.... but no one cared back then. A girl in my grade 11 high school class had a 31 yr old fiancee... and that was the only situation that I thought as 'kind of weird' back then.

I got to see Winger when they were on tour with Bullet Boys and Cinderella, around 1988-89, and my sister's boyfriend got us backstage passes to meet Winger. My sister met Kip, who wanted to give her a hug, but she declined as he was all sweaty after their set, lol, but I got to talk with him for a bit, and he signed my backstage pass. Yeah, he was quite attractive, hehe, but he was cool.

Agree. Reb Beach is one of those guys that doesn't get the love he deserved. At the time, the content didn't really phase me, because I was probably 17 or 18 at the time this came out. Now, its sort of cringy.

I wonder what Prince thought of Kip Winger? I mean Kip is basically doing Prince stuff, but it didn’t fly with a lot rock/metal peeps. I thought and still think it’s genius. This video is well shot. The lyrics are simple, but it’s got such a catchy groove, and the guitar playing is phenomenal by Reb Beach.
