So stoked for you both, I've been lucky enough to have that magic feeling of "it's actually working" when you get to sail a boat you've put together for the first time.

I just noticed something you guys are missing. Fishing gear! Ya gotta upgrade your menu of fresh fish. Also maybe a spear and fins and weights. Enjoy the stuff under the surface. Ya all are great. Keep it all coming

From a long time Seawind owner and knowing the boat when Russell owned it here in Australia, I can give you two pointers that will make your boat sail better with the correct sail set up.
1/. You need a strop at the rear of the boom to hold the clew down close to the boom.
The outhaul should be used to pull the foot of the sail parallel to the boom.
2/. If the Spinaker is asymmetric, then it uses both blocks at bow for the tack line to be used as a bridle, with the sheet running aft from the clew through those stand up blocks at the rear.
A lot of new boat owners inherit previously incorrectly setup sail setups.
Catch up with other Seawind owners who can help

You got a very good deal on that boat and are now living the dream that I want to live. I'm still saving up for that dream and think that I will be able to start my dream in about a year if silver goes up up and away like I think it will. By the way, I have a 1964 Toyota FJ40 that is all original and I love it. I've heard that most catamarans use mostly one engine at a time while in a sea way unless they are in a marina or need the extra power. They do this so that each engine gets equal time and switch from one engine to the other. It would be good to keep a log book on all of this and information about your travels and expenses each day. How many sails do you have and what are they? Is this the same type of boat that Tula's Endless Summer has? You need two life jackets and a through cushion in your tender as well as a few other items in order to not get a ticket. You also need that same stuff aboard Goose.

Clew of the mainsail still rigged incorrectly. There should be a synthetic loop that goes around the boom and attaches to the clew, that holds it near the boom. Then that other line you have attached to the boom - the outhaul - will function correctly. I'm really surprised the load on the outhaul as you have it hasn't stripped the line out of the outhaul clutch.
And is the spin symmetric or asymmetric? Either way, there should be a sheet that runs back to the winch. You can tack it to one bow or the other, but it shouldn't be attached to both bows.

Thank you. We sorted the Asym on our sail North, but we didn't know about the clew. We had to assemble the sails when we bought it and didn't realize there was a missing strap.
We're planning to use a soft shackle to hold it down to the boom as we're making a few to have around.
      Cheers!
