Uli Jon Roth really deserves much more recognition. He also always seems like such a gentleman in these jam type settings.
It's crazy how Uli pulls off some perfect shreds while not even lookin at the guitar, just looking his fans in the eyes with that grin on his face! He is easily the most under rated guitar player yet!
Only guitarists playing with feeling don't need to look at the guitar.
WOW!!! I'VE NEVER SEEN MICHAEL WITH BLACK HAIR!!!! How could you not love these musicians!!! I've met Michael and Uli and you couldn't meet two of the most humble gentlemen in the world!!
Its when his father died :-(
Bill Potter Wow, never knew that
irene centille I, too, had the pleasure of meeting both Uli Jon Roth and Michael Schenker at a meet-and-greet they each did after their respective sets on a concert bill together at the Trocadero in Philadelphia in September 2003; indeed they were both very warm and gracious! It was an honor to be able to meet them.
This is awesome. Joe is great!! I love Uli! My heart is with Michael! What an amazing show
I love those German guitar players! Satriani's contribution is cool too.
Joe just went classical on some voodoo chile!
Michael won.
@@chrisspeir675 sorry as much i like Michael... but Uli is the master
Uli being the best for this performance is not surprising since he was the most influenced by Jimi Hendrix of these 3. Uli plays Hendrix songs at most of his shows. I saw him play 7 Hendrix songs for an encore(and Speedys Coming)a few years ago. Schenker is in my Top 5 but, I love Uli & Joe as well.
Agreed saw Schenker the other night and he is playing on fire
Saw Uli in Canada and was also very awesome (after a John 5 the night before)
Uli, don't you ever hit a wrong note man ? Excellent ! So nice meeting you in Ventura in 2004.
This was during Michael's dark days - Uli helped get him out of his doldrums - a real friend
idk their story but im sure about the truth of ur saying.. i noted MS needed a friend and Uli has always have this dimension mmm ty Lord ♥
from what i understand michael's father had just passed away, hence the dyed black hair, and black clothing.
I love Uli I'm glad he didn't sing but his playing is so fluid, best scorpion days with him. I love Joe, no one plays the locrian mode like he does, he brings that dark element to the blues and I love Michael the most, can't wait for March 6 show in Maryland, taking my daughter.
i think Uli is one of THE BEST EVER! never appreciated him enough when i was younger in late 70's. Always assumed the flying V and MS was the sound. Wow! Go UJR!!!
I love all these three guys, i caught Uli in Toronto a couple years ago doing a night of scorpions, he was on fire then and now!
If that is Michael Schenker, then I must be tuned into an alternative universe.
Dude just seems unwell here lol
All four of these players (including Jimi) are among my top ten favorite guitarists! Wow, so cool!
these 3 holy trinity of living guitarists!!!!
Uli jon roth, MADE IT CLEAR......HE IS THE MOST GIFTED GUITARIST AMONG THE THREE.....IT IS CLEAR AND VERY OBVIOUS!!!
yes guys that is michael with "the black hair"!! saw this show, then saw michael play in new jersey in the u.s. 3 months later!! vinnie moore opened for him at that show and it was a fantastic show!! funny how years later, vinnie joined ufo, my all-time favorite band!! satriani + schenker my top 2 guitarists ever, and have been my biggest influences playn guitar!! thanks for the post!!
Uli plays some complicated classical compositions. He is the most accomplished here. He wrote the scorpions early stuff when they were a dangerous rock band. Check out early scorpions , they don't dissapoint
Very true, but don't forget to credit Michael Schenker for his contributions to the Scorpions. At 17, he wrote and played on "Lonesome Crow", went with UFO, and back to Scorpions for "Love Drive". I've seen very interesting interviews with Michael explaining how Michael never received the credit due for his writing and playing with the Scorpions. It's so bad, the brothers don't have a relationship.
@@irenecentille5156 I love the "Lonesome Crow" album.
Early Scorpions are fantastic!!
I haven't heard all material from all guitarists here to refute you fairly, but Satch played the best here.
Uli was a bit over cooked to start.
That’s very trues and after Uli Jon Roth the Scorpions turned to bubblegum music. In the early days they’ were a band to be reckoned with. Beside Klaus Maine the rest of the Scorpions litarrly suck.
Three of my influences feeding off each other on the same stage, wow, all I can say....
SIMPLESMENTE DEMAIS ..MUITO SHOW , EXCELENTES MÚSICOS....( BRASIL-RIO DE JANEIRO)
Saw this G3 tour in Cardiff UK, took my son, it was his first rock concert. Awesome. It was Satch's Crystal Planet tour I believe.
I could tell that was Stuart Hamm, excellent bassist!!
Uli is such a fair Guitarist
No hate
Plays on any band
Legendary playing style
Classical style
Love Uli Jon Roth !! True maestro...And talk about a Signature Custom guitar !!! WoW !!!
I couldn't imagine anyone else using that. Back then I don't know Uli, I said to myself who is this strange old man with a strange guitar. I thought he was a classical guitar player.. but lo and behold he is a master.. a living legend.. whether rock, ballad or classical. I like his note choices.. probably my favorite guitar player/musician .. Great balance of feel and skills.. today.. more and more young guitar players are getting to know this great guitar player..
:) thank you Mr. Roth
goosebumps and no words
The Maestro, the Master and the Rocker! Satch, Shenk and Roth!
18 yrs ago hey, DAMN.
3 greats no ego= Awesome!!!!!
ThePRS22 Indeed. All three are very gracious and humble gentlemen with a great deal of depth as human beings.
ULI JON ROTH IS THE BEST!!!!!!
Thanks Uli! Love all these guys, but Uli nails the Hendrix vibe that night🎶🎸
love these guys all 3! really like how satch took it out of the standard key to a different mode (harmonic minor?) for that out of box sound too.
dunno, at times it sounds like phryigian.but yes it was strange in a pleasant way :)
dunnodunnodunnodunno
Makes me think of 1983… A Merman I Should Turn to Be. .
Mr. Roth , i knee in front of you. (at a certain distance)
Christian Pucciarelli i
ye :)
LoL ! Right !
🤣at a certain distance...😍🤣
@@MahlonEdwards you never know 😂 or you know too well 😂
Wow. Guitar heaven!
Watching Uli Jon Roth solo with the sound turned off is peak!
When the spotlight first hit Uli, I didn't think he was wearing pants
Perhaps because you can clearly see the "junk in his trunk".
When does he smash watermelons?
Was exactly what I thought!! lololooooooooo
@@chungasrevenge9222 he def looks like Gallagher!
I understand your fustration.
Two of the GREATEST axeman of the CENTURY (ULI n MIKE)
Really Good !!!
Uli Jon Roth! ❤️ 💛 💚 💙 💜
Amazing uli john roth 👍
Lol, first time I see Uli without the bandana
Ha ! Gotta say same thing...and that his headwrap was so much a part of his CooL getup ! Master nonetheless...
Hiếu Tô and the first time, not seeing a fan blow Uli's hair around. Lol
That simultaneous jamming leading up to the 6 minute point gave me motion sickness!
Holy god!! I love all of these guys, but ... Uli is fucking special man. These guys are in his area on this one, and he dominates.
Uli Jon Roth is beyond spectacular or incredible or amazing he is extraordinary
Yah he plays the song better the other 2 guys have zero interest in copying someone else's song Michael you can clearly see wants to just play his own things...lol Same with Joe.
Impersionantes!!!
MS makes his Gibson sound like he wants to play Rock Bottom, lol
All Scorpions lead Guitarist are of high caliber guitar players.. Joe is amazing as well choosing the Egyptian scale.. MS used the Rock scale.. and Uli used the psychedelic magic scale.
I think they meant Voodoo Child, because Voodoo Chile is a slow blues song by Jimi
They are all great. Uli is the best by far. I prefer Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn by far over all these guitarist personally!
I just want to know how Roth makes it look like he, s not even touching the guitar. AMAZING! !!
Uli reminding all that they're playing a Hendrix Song with the Dolly Dagger riff towards the end
A few riffs of “sails” in there! Way cool set!
I was there !
Guitar, Masters!
satriani played a blackmore solo on a hendrix tune
theres an idea
Michael has black hair and Uli has - hair!
Satch slagged off Michael's playing on that G3 tour, but Michael sounds great here. Amusing when Joe came in and immediately went into Lydian mode, at first I thought oh FFS but actually it did work. Roth is magical, as always.
He didn’t slag his playing they just didn’t get along. But remember that Michael was in a dark place here because his dad had just past away.
@@peteyoung7665 He did, pal. I read the quotes the other day, was surprised, for sure. That's assuming they were accurate of course.
@@Hologhoul michael denner from mercyful fate had a story about seeing that tour and even said schenker was in pretty rough shape when he saw him. Schenker has had a lot of real rough patches in his career to the point where there have been performances that were less than stellar, i recently read a fans account of a gig from the mid 2000s that got worse as it went on because mike was drinking
@@knightfall9394 That sounds feasible, another known one was EVH who had a dreadful phase as well, there are some painful videos in existence on here. Glad MS sorted himself out over the years, even if he is still a bit mad!
@@Hologhoul yep ed had some rough patches too, these guys are human after all aside from being genuses
stu hamm still wearing the Hawaiian shorts...where is UJR bandanna and hat? MS hair?
Haha..never seen so many silly comments ever"whos the best?"Michael Schenker is of course easily the best player here but not because of this perfomance which is great here to of course and his sound is way better then both Uli and Joe but its what he has recorded in the past and present is way beyond the other guys and anyone that knows anything about music history and guitar will know that.Nothing beats UFO,S Obssesion album nothing!
Amen to that!
Uli is better than Schenker
"Haha..never seen so many silly comments ever"whos the best?""
Then you proceed with your own silly comment. Good job. lol
Obviously you've never picked up a guitar in your life. Listen to Metamorphosis. Uli is in a league of his own!
dude, Uli is miles a head of everyone in that band.
WHAT SHIT ARE YOU SMOKN, CAUSE I DON'T WANT IT
By far cause he is the Master....
Uli is a living legend.. I know how good Joe is and how inspiring MS is.. but I think Uli is a legend.. a true maestro.
With the whammy bar yes but he can’t really play rock licks. His fakin it but his great with classical scales.
Uli is Clearly cheating. He has that socketed Guitar with a blue gem that enhances the wielder's skills by 20yrs..
What the title failed to mention: Napoleon Dynamite on Bass...
Satch get the soul of this song.
I think satriani has the best hair, followed by Michael, then Uli.
Uli all the way, i know its not a race but ,man, whata difference
I didn't notice anything just Uli Uli Uli
Satch broke the mood
Seen ufo around this time was shocked when I saw Michael with black hair didn't recognize him lol
i thought i saw hendrix doing a standiing ovation at the end great job on that song
When did Gallagher start playing guitar?
Hello 👋 Anna
How're you doing,
it's been a long journey, and I'm nothing without amazing fans like you who appreciate my musical craftiness,
All love to you and yours ❤️
I reckon that I'm going to flame someone, just because their favourite guitarist is not the same as mine. This seems to be what most other people are doing in their comments.
ULI JON ROTH & JOE SATRIANI & MICHAEL SCHENKER - VOODOO CHILD
All are great. I thought in this performance uli was the best then joe then michael.
is that a custom guitar?
35-fret 7-stringer
Its his sky guitar.... yes its custom with 7 strings and an extended fret board
Is that Stu Hamm on bass?
Hey kids just picking up the guitar now a days, start here. Stay here. Don't pass go, don't sweep pick, don't get a pink guitar, put the hair spray down, break the mirror, don't do meth or drugs, watch the alcohol and respect your dick. Now go get em. Holy trinity on stage here kids, come to the church of guitar. We will leave a light on for you.....
WHERE WAS MICHAEL SCHENKER ??? YAHOOOOS LOL , AND STUART HAMM WAS THERE !!! NO MENTION !!!
I've already thought satriani was a generic player
Why the fuck wasn't I there........
When they come together....all they can make is only NOISE.That's why Ritche Blackmore never wants to play with other noise makers. The reason:He's no match for other guitar players. He's one hell of a guitar genius.
Lol.... you really compared your hero to Uli? he is so much better than all the rest. And if you gave an answer than tell me any guitar work that is better than Ulis.
@@alexanderruppert1705 Uli and Blackmore are both guitar genius' . When it comes to completely mastering an instrument at EVERY level it becomes completely subjective...and Uli is subjectively MY favorite! and SRV!
From which year this concert, is maybe DVD ??
Zico Bonafonte it's from 98
no dvd live gig saw it in coperhagen 98
thank's, but I wish there was a dvd :(
Satch's tone is the best.
Uli
How come the Blonde bomber has black hair and beard
Now I know why Uli wears a bandana jajajajaja
Just wait dickhead
Eh. None had that crucial missing ingredient that Hendrix had in spades and that is feel/soul. This all sounds rushed and contrived, but that 's ok, it's a jam session and was fun to hear.
Go away... Listen to your Bieber... Pissant
Sky guitar talking
Sorry? Where is Michael Schenker?
alessandro vanzan In the middle with the Flying V of course.
Schenker is easily the best here he has his own style the other two just doing a hendrix rip of basically.
Eric Zwicker Sure looks like Schenker. Plays like him too. Hell, this guy even plays the same guitar. Sure would be an odd thing to troll about though so I guess it must not be him.
Eric Zwicker So who do you think it is?..ha.Steva Vai..ha.You need to read and learn something about guitar history but i forgive you.You cant be much older then 12 but i will tell you who these guy are so listen and learn.Uli jon Roth,Michael Schenker(Yes with black hair)Joe Satriani(with no hair)and Stu Hamm on bass anything else?...
You forgot to credit the drummer...
sue quick who is it the dummy.its michael schenker
Michael... Schenker??? really??? Well if everyone else says it's him then I'll take there word for it...but id have never had said so otherwise. Still...regardless.. it was a great watch...and Uli is awesome... as usual.
+Mark Cottey Yup, there was a time in the 90's he had black hair. You can still tell the 3 finger lea playing and the way he holds the pick. Cool to see him and Uli jam.
Mark Cottey it's him alright. I met him on the "walk on water tour" he did look strange with black eye liner too lol.
the black hair was a mourning thing, his father had recently passed.
Did Michael played with a Gibson?
He played Gibson V´s for many years before he switched to Dean, he has been with Dean for many years now as well.
Uli owned it ,,Mike obviously needed a chiropractor and who's the bald guy?
Michael with black hair😂
Crazy dude....
But he s the best!!!🤘
Not sure why JS was even doing this its all about the Germans Uli awesome Michael even more so considering this period in his life
When Michel Dyed his hair black and looked like a 90's porn star haha
That guy playing my V is not me !!!!
Hello 👋
How're you doing,
it's been a long journey, and I'm nothing without amazing fans like you who appreciate my musical craftiness,
All love to you and yours ❤️
Sorry. I think the Strat sounds better. That's the tone I remember from the 70s
I stand by this firmly MFs!
Good day!
Wot?
Oh, rather!
Cats and Dogs !
Really terrific but I miss the wah effects. Just not the same somehow.
WHO'S on bass?
Is Sammy Hagar on the base there?))))
Love the people involved here, but the tempo is way too fast.
Uli Jhon roth es el padre de Scorpions
