Was a huge Goldie fan. That cricket game that he won in 93 was the first game of cricket I ever watched, was an instant fan and then started watching rugby and haven’t stopped since. Thrilled to watch this as it’s great memories for me too.
I remember that debut against Scotland. He was sensational. He did everything right, his attack, defense, kicking etc. And two superb tries, You knew you were watching something special.
I remember when he was on tvnz1 sports item being interviewed as a school kid as he had rugby , cricket and I think it was athletics as a 100m sprinter, national and provincial sides chasing him.
as a North Harbour man I loved to hate Jeff Wilson as he always beat my team by himself . But what a career, love his commentary and sporting knowledge is second to none
I remember being at the Basin Reserve in 93 watching Jeff Wilson play cricket for NZ. When he got out and was walking off the field, I just remember seeing his face under the helmet, and he was swearing his @ss off. LOL
Rugby was just a lot more enjoyable in the 90's... backlines had space and formations, set moves were regular, rucks were quick. Now it's just beefcakes standing in midfield getting in the way.
Outstanding athlete, and a great guy. Thanks JW!

There will never be another Jeff Wilson
Graceful is the word that comes to mind, the way he finished tries was just so smooth. Probably one of the best 'dives' ever.

My favourite player as a kid. Lucky to see Otago v Wellington lions 1997 at athletic park and he signed his book for me after the game.
Crazy to think AB de Villiers playing Springbok rugby or Morne Steyn playing for the proteas what a talent

It free flowing back then and players could showcase their talents. Todays game pales in comparison
Generational athlete 🔥
Where's the George Gregan tackle jersey 🤭🔥
He probably gave it to George as a souvenir
The only surviving winger from the 95 World Cup final
Had no idea he played cricket too👏
Wow, cool
