A really disarming and charismatic guy. Not the side you would see when supporting the teams he was playing against, an extremely tough competitor and always haranguing the referee. One-on-one, he sounds absolutely fantastic.
Man...we lack leadership in the current AB squad..even the senior players need to look up to one player that can keep the team focused and calm ....we had Umaga-Reid-Mcaw ....yet no one has stepped up to this level of leadership..changing captains every years does not help out at all
I mean for starters our current captain isn't even the best 7 in NZ. Umaga, McCaw and Reid all were the best players in the position in NZ at that time. Dont really know how will be skip post 2023, Blackadder is a potential
Even though he won two world cups and was world rugby player of the year and all the other Championships I STILL can't put Read in my Greatest ABs 15 ahead of Zinzane Brooke🤷♂️ maybe ahead of Buck Shelford 🤔 but Read was all good though...
Not a big fan of crusaders but I'm a fan of Counties Manukau and Blues. My wish for him to be in the Chiefs way back but oh well. But definitely the good players as an All Blacks and Counties Manukau 👍🏾👍🏾

Read was better than any captain we have had since McCaw...Cane Whitelock ...Smith don't come close to Read in terms of leadership.
